We arrived as soon as they opened, and the Chef was very friendly and offered some samples of cheese including his burrata, which was incredible! Everything we sampled was delicious! We felt so special because we were the only ones there when it opened and it felt like we had a personal chef! The blueberry risotto and pasta were worth the walk over here! Loved this place! The ambiance was incredible!

Tucked away in a small, quaint setting that feels more like a family gathering than a restaurant, Masto exceeded every expectation. We arrived as a group of 12--without a reservation--and were welcomed with such kindness and ease that it felt like coming home. I had chosen Masto after reading glowing reviews online, hoping for delicious, authentic Italian food. Not only did it live up to the hype, it surpassed it. The food was phenomenal. We started with a beautiful charcuterie board and tastings of cheese paired with a divine truffle sauce. Every bite was a testament to the love and care they put into their food. The lasagna, ravioli, eggplant Parmesan, and gnocchi carbonara were all absolutely delicious--rich, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. To top it off, we enjoyed a wonderful selection of wine, decadent chocolate, tiramisu, and a smooth pour of limoncello. It was the kind of meal that lingers in your memory long after the plates are cleared. Emiliano and his staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed and cared for. Their hospitality was genuine, thoughtful, and deeply appreciated. After such a fantastic meal, we left with full stomachs and happy hearts--ready to explore the Spanish Steps with smiles on our faces. I was so impressed that I recommended Masto to other guests at my hotel before we even left. Masto is more than a restaurant--it's an experience. One that I would return to again and again. Grazie mille to Emiliano and the entire team for such a memorable start to our Roman adventure!

I just moved to the neighborhood and this was the first restaurant I tried. I arrived just before…read more8pm and there was no one around. There were plenty of awards listed on the door and the prices seemed reasonable so I felt like I was avoiding a tourist trap. However, given that I look Asian, I stood out like a sore thumb as I was surrounded by Italians, some speaking English but most speaking Italian. My waiter was great; however the other waiters seemed to be laughing that I was sitting alone for dinner, which maybe is a faux puax in Italy, and does not account for business persons traveling alone. When asked for recommendations on dessert, they stated the tiramisu, which was very good. Next time, I will try something else. They did try to push some alcohol on me as "authentic" so I don't think they realized that I was not looking for tourist stuff, but just good stuff. They didn't speak English that well so when I asked for leftovers to be packed up, they did not. My waiter promptly took care of that and asked packed up the delicious bread. I don't think having the boss around helped their nerves. But as for the actual food, it was quite food and reasonably priced. The octopus salad was quite good, with the fresh octopus cooked nicely--not chewy at all. I could have just eaten that because the portion sizes were so large but had already ordered the fish pasta so that was really good--pasta al dente with fresh fish, tomatoeS and olives!
