Upon entering this establishment the door slams behind you creating a jarring welcome which startles each person who enters. There are no human staff to assist clients. The waiting room has an automated check-in kiosk and TV with a Quest video on constant repeat. Cleanliness is not what one would expect for a medical testing business. My first human experience was a dreadful encounter with the caustic and impatient Tiffany G. This employee wins the honor of being the most unhelpful and dismissive person, in a customer-facing position, I've ever encountered globally. That says a lot given that I've spent a lifetime traveling the world. Tiffany has no interest in assisting a first time visitor. Instead of being welcoming and helpful, one feels the immediate verbal abuse and shaming. "You people need to come here prepared." followed by "You needed to be prepared." At the end of the procedure, instead of answering a simple question regarding the verification of both vial ID numbers a question is hurled back "Didn't you hear me to check the number on the vial?" Be warned: if you arrive without already knowing exactly where to find your Q number, you may be sidelined and made to feel like a burden rather than a patient. Questions are met with irritation, not answers, and the entire process is handled in a way that is unnecessarily stressful and demeaning. It's remarkable--and unacceptable--that the routine procedure of peeing into a cup, for a pre-employment drug test, could be turned into such an unpleasant ordeal. Don't expect customer service at the Herndon Quest location. After this experience, if I am ever required to patronize Quest Diagnostics I will travel to another location. read more

They are unbelievably slow to get patients in the door. I showed up as a walk in and waited 2 and 1/2 hours before calling it quits. Whatever, I knew the risks of choosing to walk in, but they should really just not allow walk in's. After scheduling an appointment and returning later, I still waited in the lobby for an entire hour past my scheduled appointment time. People have jobs, lives, things to do. It is incredibly unprofessional to keep accepting appointments when they are incapable of accommodating them. I would avoid this location if at all possible. read more

This is the first time I have made a review in like 10yrs but after being so poorly treated I wanted to prevent Tiffany from mistreating another client. I had a 12:10appt but was 20min early and since waiting room was pretty empty, I logged in to be seen as walk-in. About 30min passed and not called. Eventually I asked why 12:20 are being seen when I have an appt sooner. Tiffany said you will have to be seen likely by end of the day (3pm) I informed her I am on the schedule for 12:10. She said she will be fired for seeing me bc I am now in the book as walk-in. I hear lots of chit chat as I am waiting as Tiffany is taking her time with each person. I had to hold my bladder for drug screen so it was painful and inconvenient experience. I finally asked to talk to manager who was kind and said you should be seen since you are on the schedule. I was finally seen but treated with a lot of mean attitude. This was one of the worst if not the worst experiences I have ever had in a medical facility. I get the stress of a busy day. They are supposed to take walk ins how ever between scheduled patients even if they have a break they won't take the stand by patients...they take their sweet time until the next patient with a time scheduled show up that way they don't have to see the "standby" patients. I wasn't sure what to expect with the negative reviews. To my surprise, this location is great! Yes, the waiting room was full upon my arrival but the wait wasn't bad (I had an appt). Christine was my phlebotomist and she was so sweet, kind, and did a wonderful job. I'd highly recommend this location. I believe there are only two staff members there and they work non-stop. I chose this location since it was close by. There was plenty of parking as well . Medical facilities should appear clean , sanitary , well lit and organized. The check-in monitor in the small waiting room did not seem to work, however, Paris (lab tech/nurse) confirmed that my paperwork was already in their system when I went in back to the lab intake room. Paris was very organized and professional so I appreciate her dedication. The waiting room was filled with chairs and gave a dark appearance ? The space also did not seem clean and sanitized for a Monday morning. I feel the atmosphere could greatly be improved for cleanliness in the waiting room to the small intake rooms for the welfare of patients & the employees. I am not sure if all techs are phlebotomist, as I did have some bruising afterwards that I don't normally have. Incompetent staffing. Poor operation. Went to the Herndon Quest, Elden st. location just to drop off lab specimens with complete paperwork by physician and was told I needed an appointment to simply do a drop off. When I called the quest main number, I was put on hold for 25 minute to speak to a representative. It was confirmed that Quest logistics expects an appointment for drop off, including going from office to office to find a timely appointment. There are no exceptions for drop off rendering specimens to become outdated for admission. Look for another lab or return the specimens to your doctor's office. read more

I have NEVER left a negative review for a medical provider but in this case I feel I must given just awful my experience was. You can see what my arm looks like 4 days post simple blood test. Mind you, I have never ever experienced any bruising with blood draws. The technician who helped was curt and had an all around bad attitude. As she was pulling out the needle, she manipulated it to inflict even more pain. I know medical professional job is hard and even harder nowadays - but if you hate what you do this much, maybe you should consider a change of occupation. read more

I have used this Quest Diagnostics location twice. Both of my experiences were positive. Staff was lovely and were able to draw my blood in one prick - a task many nurses struggle with. One of the tests required me to stay for hours. It was a particularly hot day (over 100) and instead of waiting in my car or the waiting room the nurses offered me a private room in the back for my comfort. As long as I live locally I will use this Quest location! read more

I'm not too sure about others experiences here, because I do see the negative reviews (and saw them prior to visiting quest). I had lab orders by my doctor for bloodwork that I originally took to INOVA. They informed me they didn't have the equipment for such and said to try Labcorp or Quest. Quest was the only place I could find to do the labs for the tick-borne illnesses. I came on a Friday afternoon, the place was clean (not filthy as others mentioned). I waited for maybe 5-10 minutes before being called back. The phlebotomist (Maggie I believe) was very friendly. Made very polite conversation as she updated my information patiently and did my labs. She also told me how I can see any results online. I had a good experience here overall! read more

Every single time I have seen at least one person politely ask for assistance with what they needs to do and 100% of the time they are met with rude, condescending, apathetic employees. It's frustrating to watch an elderly person who clearly doesn't understand the sign in process be insulted and talked down to. I have yet to get someone who can find a fin on the first or even 5th time and inevitably end leaving feeling like a pin cushion. None of their employees seem particularly competent and it's clear being civil and polite is a chore far beyond their pay grade. The lab is very clean and the staff members are friendly and skillful. My problem is not with them. Unfortunately, I've been waiting for weeks for routine lab work. There's been no communication whatsoever to me on the portal, and other appointments depend upon these lab results. I've called several number and wasted a lot of time listening to automated messages that lead to no resolution. It is impossible to get through to a human being. Equally frustrating, none of my labs over the last two months have posted to the portal. When I sent a message to the technical services, instead of helping me with my actual problem, they repeated the instructions for requesting labs. Worst customer service ever. read more

Came first time today 01/04/2022 to this location, appointment at 7:40 am, was 5 min late (icy roads), checked in and waited 5 min. A Lab tech (male, probably middle eastern) with a blue/green lab coat comes out and asks if there is "anyone for lab test" and another client and me raised hands almost at the same time and the guy looks at me and warns: "I can only talk to one person at a time!!", continues talking to the other client and leaves asking me to wait a minute more. Three minutes later a lab tech (female, African American) opens the door and calls my name (wrong pronunciation) and asks, "do you have an order?" (No "Good morning" for me) and I tried to explain it's my first time using Cigna and I made an online procedure for my first annual check up, but she interrupts me in the middle of my sentence and raising her voice says (while turning back and walking away), "This is no Cigna sir, this is Quest!". I clarified "I know, I can clearly read". Than inside she asks me again for the order and while I'm explaining she interrupts me again looking at the computer "You didn't put your date of birth!" (Which I did but for some reason she could not see)...In other words: Don't come here. This people are rude, unprofessional, and the place is old, ugly, not so clean. That is why my blood pressure went so high (160/95 !!!! ). I am a retired physician (neurophysiologist) with 43 years of medical practice in Switzerland, this was a medical emergency and she didn't even suggested a visit to the ER. I've been going to Quest Herndon for over 10 years several times a year and in the past they were okay, not great, but okay. Lately they have been staffed by poorly trained and/or unprofessional staff. Six months ago two different techs couldn't draw my blood despite multiple sticks and the sample they got couldn't be used because it had been drawn incorrectly so I had to go elsewhere. Today, I stepped out to collect a sample from my car after my blood was drawn and returned two minutes later and knocked on the door as instructed. No one came so I kept knocking and calling out to them for over a minute. No other patients were in the office and I could hear them just just chitchatting with each other. So I started knocking harder and finally they all marched up to the door, verbally berated me and when I asked them what was wrong with them for not answering the door, they accused of being a racist, grabbed the sample out of my hand and slammed the door in my face. I'm also filing a complaint with the corporate office. Their behavior was inexcusable. read more

Rule #1 of Quest Diagnostics: Make an appointment. Rule #2 of Quest Diagnostics: MAKE AN APPOINTMENT. If you're a walk-in, prepare for a long, long wait (could be upwards of an hour or more). Quest is insanely busy, with people coming in and out, and it can be a little chaotic. The staff are nice, but also very blunt. As one of the clinicians told me, they deal with over 100+ patients a day. So that's about 12.5 patients an hour. With paperwork, documentation and more, they need to get people in and out. If you don't like waiting for a long time make an appointment ahead of time. I didn't (and I regret!). Though I'm not to too frustrated at Quest. They handled what they could as best as they could. read more

We went twice within a month for blood draws for my kid. Shaleem was amazing. We had such an easy experience the first time, I wanted Shaleem to do it the second time too. My mom did a TB test here for her immigration application and the doctor's skill to draw brood was horrible. One day after draw, the doctor told me my mom had to come back because the sample was contaminated. And she did the second draw. After a couple of days, the lab gave a positive result to my mom. So she had to do a x-ray test after she received the lab result to prove she is qualified for the application. X Ray result is negative. But the delay made her miss the deadline for the application. My experience tells you if you have another choice, do not use them. They have to be legally responsible for wrong practice. They need to be sued to become professional. read more

I made an appointment (because of the reviews here) and I was seen within 5 minutes of signing in. The woman who took my blood was super nice and friendly and I was in and out in 10 minutes. My appointment was at 10:30 AM and there were only 2 others in the waiting room, so you may have more luck as a walk-in if you go earlier in the day. read more

I arrived at 8:35 for a 8:30 appointment. Around 8:40, a lady sitting next to me stated she accidentally had coffee and she was supposed to fast. She said she was cancelling and left. At 8:48 they finally called me and looked at the sheet with the arrival time and said, "OH... you arrived LATE. We cant take you now, you have to wait like a walk-in." Even though a lady before me JUST cancelled her appointment, I had to wait. So I sit down, and a man walks in at 8:50 and says, "My appointment is at 9, can you take me now?" "Yes sir!" They say. And take him right away. So they made ME wait 13 minutes before even calling me up to the window, then berate me for being 5 minutes late, then force me to wait until 9:10 before taking me. It really seemed like they were just punishing me instead of going by "policy". The phlebotomist that took my blood, Amanda, was very good. She was the only redeeming quality of this place. read more
