Wendy was absolutely phenomenal at this location!!! I'd gone to Urgent Care the day prior and they determined I needed blood work to identify any issues. Two of their 'techs' attempted to draw blood, with the first tech poking me and then saying my vein rolled so she unsuccessful. It hurt so badly that it actually caused me to grab onto my Mom in distress. They then sent a second tech in, she poked me, and said she could "not find your veins, so go home and hydrate." They provided a lab slip and referred me to any Quest location. The following day my Mom took me to this Quest location after booking an appointment online. I was under the weather, so my Mom had to take me, just as she had to Urgent Care the day prior. We walked in and checked in on their iPad with ease. Wendy came out very quickly after check-in and took us back to room two very swiftly. We briefly explained my previous Urgent Care situation to her and I shared with her that I've unfortunately always been fearful of needles. Wendy said to not worry because she's phlebotomist who does this every day, to include babies and toddlers. We told Wendy about the whole "rolling veins" and she took one look at my arm and said I had great veins. She pointed to the vein, wrapped something around my upper arm, and cleaned my joint. She began telling my Mom and I about her son and husband and the next thing I knew my Mom said she had already completed three tubes of blood withdrawal and was done. My mom and I cannot stop praising her and we were in and out within less than 10 to 15 minutes. She distracted me with ease and did a phenomenal job with great customer care. If you do visit this location, please request Wendy because not only is she really nice, but she also has great customer service skills! Today I went to my first appointment with Quest Diagnostics and it went very well! Making an appointment was very easy. I made an appointment through their website and they tell you what you can expect the day of your appointment. There is also plenty of parking inside the facility (you will have to pay) and outside of the facility (street parking). A neat thing they do is you can check in through your phone, so by the time I walked into the office I was called in to a room. The office itself is very clean and well staffed. I also like the convenience of the screen they have in the waiting room to see who's next. The nurse who helped me (I think her name was Itzel or Itzzy?) was very friendly, professional, and super quick! I was literally in and out of the office within 10-15mins! I had a specimen drop off appointment at 8.40 am but came in early at 8 am to drop off, checked in their system and waited. It was not that busy so I asked staff if they can take my sample so I can get to work but they refused. I have to pay for the parking 0-60 mins 2$, and they don't provide validation. St Mary medical center hope you consider validating for patients and family visitors. There are other quest locations where parking is free and friendly staff who takes you in when there are less people. Will not come to this location. read more

I had great service today by Stephanie. She really took her time to go above and beyond. My lab orders were not all in the computer and she took her time to go on my health portal to locate the labs and then she put a call out to my doctor. Typically that is not done. If you don't have a lab order, that's it, they do not go around trying to get the order, but she did. She was also very mindful where she put the tourniquet instead of putting it the skin which most people do, she pulled my sleeve down and put the tourniquet on top of that. Confused by the bad reviews. My appointment was at 8:10, checked in via the text message (I received the previous night) at 8:03, was called back at 8:08, left the facility at 8:15. The office is in a building that is part of the Saint Mary hospital campus. I walked so not sure current parking rates. After checking in, make sure to check the monitor on the wall to see that your name is listed. Some people were having issues using the tablet to check in but, if you use the link they send then no need. They will verify your DOB, doctors name and that's it. You may have to provide your insurance information if you didn't provide when making the appointment. They'll have you confirm your name is accurate on the samples, sign electronically then you're on your way. They do have a sign on the door stating masks required but I did not have any with me and had no issues. read more

The nurses were doing their best but got in after my scheduled appointment which was out of their control. Quest Diagnostics on 1043 Elm Ave in Long Beach, CA is the very best ever. I went there this morning as a walk-in and within less than 15 minutes I was called in by Stephanie. We verified all my information and I handed her my paperwork. I explained that my veins were small and she would need to use the baby needle. I was teasing her by asking if she was a sure shot. And she said she hopes so. We laughed about that. I told her I was putting pressure on her and we laughed about that too. And with my veins I told her it was obvious that I was not a drug addict because my veins were small. So again we laughed about that. She strapped me up and felt for the largest vein. She wiped me with that alcohol and gave me a poke. ONE POKE DID THE TRICK, SHE GOT IT ON THE VERY FIRST TRY and it didn't even hurt like how others have done. They she started filling the viles. The needle did not move, adjust nor anything, just filled up with the required amounts of blood. So I say if anyone goes into the Quest Diagnostics Lab at the address listed above. Besure to ask for STEPHANIE. SHE IS AMAZING! Now let me also say that 3 weeks ago I went to the Imagining center right across the street for an MRI and the girl Danielle poked and poked my right arm and I had to tell her STOP! and go to the left arm. After Danielle finished with me. There was a lot of blood on the cotton. With Stephanie there was no blood whatsoever on the cotton because she knew what she was doing. And today there is just a small pin dot where the needle was inserted. Stephanie is the very best with her little short cute self. I'm short too, so this comment is of respect for us short ladies. Again I am so pleased with the work by Stephanie. I also told one lady who was also waiting that if she gets Stephanie, she will be lucky. Very easy to get an appointment, I made mine less than a day ahead of time. Showed up, checked in on the iPad (it would be great if this was not at the reception desk, because it's hard to get to when someone else is with the receptionist), and was seen in about 5 minutes. The walk-in wait time seemed to be at least an hour, so make an appointment if you can! My phlebotomist was Javier and he was friendly, skilled, and patient. He listened to me about what has worked best in the past and was gentle in his blood draws. More like 3.5/5. Check in process was smooth. People were nice. Scheduling the appt, easy. The only downside was my phlebotomist used a blunt needle instead of a butterfly with an attachment (which I will request for in the future). I've been bruised way worse in the past. I was uncomfortable during the blood draw, every time the vacutainer was changed, felt like the needle digged deeper into my arm. I even held pressure to the site for about 20 minutes post lab draw, and now left recovering with a quarter-size bruise. read more

Today, 11/18/24.Terrible customer service. I had an appointment. Doctors order confirmed electronically. Checked in 744 am for my 8 am appointment.Stephanie could not confirm my lab order was in. I asked her to double check, cause it had been cofirmed by doctors office twice. She seemed overwhelmed, inneficient and unhelpful. I ended up stepping outside to call my doctor, and asked stephanie to hold my appt confirmation. She didnt! when i came back in 5 mins. she was busy with other customers. After 40 mins of waiting I asked Isell or Isell (or Lisset, manager) to help and explained situation. By this time I had signed up since my appointment was deleted and invalid, evven though it was 8:05. I then asked lisset for help, she was worst. No appreciation of people's time and respect for their decency. They talk to you like a five year old, and dismiss you quickly. They are incompetent and unprofessional. Made an appointment at 8am for 10:45am. When I came in at 10:45 I signed in and got a seat in the crowded waiting room. Usually its a 5-10 min wait (w/appt) but due to high levels of disorganization at 11:15 I had to ask about the wait and was met with confused stares. They had skipped and forgotten me :( my paperwork was waiting in the fax machine waiting to be entered. To add a cherry on top, they also keep the office door locked so nobody is able to go in to ask any questions or wonder what is going on with their appointment. If you're doing a blood draw you do not let go of the butterfly needle while it is still in the clients arm and walk away to grab something from a drawer. First off, u have an invasive device in a patients vein, whether it's a butterfly needle or not, you do NOT leave it dangling from the patients arm ... secondly, the tourniquet was still on as well.. this is called negligence. The reception staff and the phlebotomist were all very kind. There was a long wait to be seen, they were a little backed up, so some elderly patients were having temper tantrums but the reception staff dealt with those people very professionally. A completely painless, easy process. Came in here without an appointment needing a blood test. I was worried I'd be waiting forever, given the packed waiting room. I signed in on an iPad and then waited...probably 7 minutes, tops, to get called back. I was shocked, in a good way. The lady who took my blood (I think her name was Wendy? I can't remember. I'm horrible with names) was SO nice. I told her I was a little nervous and she was totally cool about it. She found my vein in one try, a quick poke and it was done. The facility was clean, all the employees were friendly and helpful, extremely quick process. Test results came back about a week later. I can't complain. Mayra N. is the meanest and roughest phlebotomist that I have ever met. Halfway through my blood labs, I said "ouch" when she sharply wiggled the needle when changing vials. She then ripped out the needle with no pressure on the cotton ball and my blood started squirting. She then said she was going to switch to the other arm, but I just had labs on my other arm. Very poor service. Staff seems rushed and unwilling to deal with anything that might slow them down, i.e. customer needs. They had to contact my doctors office, but then provided the wrong info to staff there. So they told me that my doctor's office had no records on me and immediately started helping others and then pulled major attitude on me, like somehow they were doing me a favor. Employee refused to wear her name tag and claimed that she would put it on later, even admitting that this was against company policy. I usually have no problem but today there were computer problems and the front desk secretary kept insisting we sign in at the kiosk. By the time I got to the kiosk it was more than 10 min past my appointment and it rescheduled me at a later time. No really a problem since it was soon but the person at the front desk continued to be rude insisting I had an appointment at 7:50AM not originally at 7:30AM. If she can't use her customer service skills then she should get another job. I am almost a weekly patient. they probably have gallons of my blood already. This place get packed(especially this morning!) but BE SURE TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT as you will have a minimal wait time. There was not even room for me to sit down this morning as i walked in (i have never seen it this crowded) and i was assuming a long long wait but i since i had an appointment i was taken back almost immediately. The staff is always really friendly and pay attention to detail on labeling the vials of blood so as make sure things are correct, blood draw is quick and painless. This location has gained by loyalty so i wont go anywhere else. Id say i have been to this location somewhere between 12 to 15 times within the past 2 years and have not had a bad experience yet. i would recommend them but GO ONLINE AND MAKE AN APPOINTMENT because it can get crowded with walkins. Every time I come in for routine blood work, 1 vial drawn, I always leave with an awful bruise & am bleeding. When I questioned her, she said that what happen when they draw blood from your arm. You have to pay $2 for parking, and it's hard to find where to park or where to go (the entrance to the building has reserved parking that's not for Quest, and you can only enter from the back).
