Figuring out insurance, appointments, etc can be really cumbersome and I'm grateful organizations like this exist to make STD testing accessible, free and destigmatizing. They offer the services Monday, Wednesday, and Friday between 11am and 7pm. It's walk in and all you need to bring are your ID and cell phone. The cell phone is so that you can complete sign up for the web portal to get results. Wait times vary, but you should probably plan at least an hour depending on when you go to be in/out. The test includes an instant result HIV/AIDs sample, a blood test and a throat swab to check out for other diseases (ask specifically what you'll get tested for). The nurses and staff are kind, efficient, and good at what they do. If you test positive for anything, they will treat you for free as well. Some of the results (like from the instant result test) are immediately available while others take 2-14 days. You get notified via phone and email to look at the lab results web site. If only all medical care was so simple and easy.

However, enough is enough. This review is about Open Access Medical Care, which is run by Dr. Mehtab Bhambra Dhamija and the Instagram ladies at her practice. So, what happens when an 84-year-old goes to this practice and is notified that her lab reports, which have abnormalities, do? According to Ruby (we don't know if this is her real name) - it is the patient's job to review the results, note the abnormalities, and then schedule an appointment with the doctor. That is the office protocol. OK!!! So, when is the first available appointment for an 84-year-old who has an infection and abnormal reports? Five weeks after the test results came back. "May I speak to the Practice Administrator? " - I request. "Please wait!" 14 minutes later. "She is busy with another patient!" says Ruby. "I will wait" After 44 minutes of waiting, the phone goes quiet. No call back. Could it be possible that the ladies are busy making videos for Instagram? Apparently, there are tons of videos with the doctor and ladies on social media selling cosmetic procedures online. An 84-year-old's life is more precious than making dancing videos. Next stop - medical board of California and the insurance company. Sorry, Dr. Dhamija. 30 years of patronage hold little value at your clinics in Long Beach and at Walk In Medical Clinic in Artesia. Joseph at the front desk was incredibly helpful and helped guide me through some options. I was able to get an appointment quickly and the pre-check in link was easy and concise. The facility is easy to get to with plenty of parking. The waiting area is well designed, clean and nice. Jasmine handled my intake stats and was friendly and fast. Shortly thereafter I met Dr. Nair. What a fantastic person. Great bedside manner, friendly, and upbeat. It was very easy to discuss my symptoms and concerns, and he addressed everything like a true professional. Dr. Nair provided the next steps and I was on my way. One of the best doctors I have been in contact with in a long while. The entire experience with Nair Urgent Care was superb from beginning to end.
