This was undeniably the worst experience I have ever had at any blood lab whatsoever, and especially at this specific Quest Diagnostics location (314 West 14th Street, New York, NY 10014). In advance, I scheduled an appointment online through the MyQuest app for Saturday, December 7, 2024 at 8:10am. I arrived at approximately 8:00am for the appointment, and was "greeted" by the security guard at the front desk in the building lobby. As I entered the lobby, the security guard said to me "You are not going upstairs, Quest is not open yet. He (meaning the lab technician) is running late." When I asked the security guard if he had any specific details as to when the technician might be arriving, he responded back "I already told you he's running late. It could be 10 minutes, it could be 20 minutes, I have no idea. You can look for another appointment at a different location if you want, or go walk around outside." Evidently, the lab technician and the security guard were in contact with each other that morning. Since it was very cold out on the morning of Saturday, December 7th, I decided to wait in the lobby. The lab technician arrived at approximately 8:30am, 20 minutes after my scheduled appointment. The security guard said "Hey brother" to the lab technician as the technician arrived. The security guard accompanied the lab technician in the elevator to the 3rd floor (location of the Quest lab), and then the security guard returned down to the lobby and said to me and two other women patients waiting, "You all can go upstairs now." I have had my blood drawn in the past by this specific lab technician at this Quest location at 314 West 14th Street, New York, NY 10014 (I do not know his name) several times in the past, as I go for routine bloodwork every 3 months. While I find that this technician is never warm or friendly, and typically exudes little to no bedside manner, I have not had any specific issues with him drawing my blood in the past, other than the fact that he barely interacts with the patients and he does not demonstrate a warm, welcoming, or friendly demeanor. When me and the 2 other female patients arrived at the Quest lab on the 3rd floor, the lab technician was in the kitchen making what appeared to be coffee or tea for himself. He offered no apology or explanation to me or the two other female patients for being 20 minutes late to the lab. He did not greet us or say "Good Morning." Conversely, as he exited the kitchen area, he blurted out in a loud and rude tone "Absolutely no walk-ins today, it's Saturday!" As previously mentioned, I had a scheduled appointment for 8:10am, but one of the female patients was a walk-in patient, and she politely asked the lab technician if there was any chance she could be seen by him if he had some available time. He cut her off and said in a loud tone "No, absolutely not!" At that point, he proceeded to walk down the corridor to his lab station, and he yelled down the hallway for me by saying "David, come to Room #4." The rest of the session proceeded normally, the technician drew my blood in accordance with my doctor's prescription, and I exited the lab and the building. read more

Horrible. Employee couldn't figure out how to enter my information on the computer- took almost an hour walking in and walking out - lost my information and didn't inform my dr of the results- if the government wants reduce healthcare cost- start here. read more

I went to the Quest Lab location at 88-31 55th Avenue in Elmhurst this morning. It's located in a newer building on the ground floor. Walk toward the elevators and turn left. My experience was very positive. I arrived at 9:10 for a 9:40 appt. Check in at the kiosk was simple, but you could also check in on the link they confirm your appointment with, within 10 minutes of your appointment time. It is a very clean and modern lab. Cami was polite, quick and friendly and she expertly drew blood. I was back in the car before my actual appointment time. read more

I scheduled an appointment there for 8:10 and when I got there, no-one was there and there was a sign on the door saying "Train is late, will not be in office until 8:45". It was completely unprofessional that I had an appointment and they just didn't open. When I tried to go back, I had to leave because they were taking so long. The nurse who drew my blood is extremely rude. I've never treated this way in any lab before. She kept shaming me about machine didn't take clear picture of my insurance card. So I said the machine took picture when I was not ready, she just said "look at this, why do I need to see your shoes?!" "What's is this?" Even I provided her my physical card, she still kept going on said " I know it's your fault". She is making patients uncomfortable, and really treat me like shit. read more

I wasn't sure what to expect based on the reviews. But my check in was fast and I was called into a room exactly 2 mins after my appointment time so quite timely. My phlebotomist was Suzette and she was super sweet and efficient and chatted with me so I wasn't nervous, and I was in and out in 10 mins. My experience was super positive!!! read more

Had an appointment scheduled for 11:10 and it's now 12:10. There are 4 people still ahead of me. If you schedule an appointment here, I would allow for at least 1.5 hours of waiting time before you're seen. Check in and go walk around so you don't have to wait in this waiting room for 1+ hour. read more

This location needs an overhaul. The Phlebotomist is now in charge of billing. I was told I needed to pay a bill or she wouldn't take my blood. The bill was never mailed or emails as it was only issued 3 days before my service. They couldn't pull up the actual bill from when the service was done either. The phlebotomist was also happy to pick up the phone while I was in the room. She should be focused only on the patient not on a phone call. This is a terrible location and they need to change their ways if they want to be respected in the medical field. read more

Dingy basement space. Snarky, gruff phlebotomist ladies. Scattered boxes of equipment and medical products. With all the above, you'd expect this to be a one-star rating, right? I dig it. Even with only two apparent techs on duty, there was no line, I didn't have an appointment, and I was in and out in under fifteen minutes. The lady who drew my blood held a completely dry, sarcastic conversation, bantering with me the whole time. She scored my vein on the first try with no apparent effort (admittedly, I have veins that paramedics would -love- to stick). No fuss, no muss, and virtually no pain. The phlebotomists are always great but this is truly one of the worst medical offices a sick person can experience. The TV is atrociously, punitively loud and the office staff say they're not allowed to lower it -- company policy. I don't need to be loudly advertised at for the very establishment I'm patronizing. This location is very convenient and helpful but not a nice place to be; the hand sanitizer in this building is also usually empty all over, only the phlebotomists wear masks, and the waiting room is pretty dingy -- even when I come first thing in the morning some of the chairs are really dirty. I realize this might sound pedantic and overly critical but I spend a lot of time in medical waiting rooms and they're usually places meant to evoke peace and safety -- not so at Quest, no matter the location. read more

14th St is the worst. I went as a walk in Sat morning -only one LPN was there to take blood and labs. Only one woman was waiting as another was being escorted in for labs. Good I thought. Before taking the one in, she told the seated woman something about full appointments every ten minutes and sent her on her way. I logged in for a walk in. I waited 2 minutes and when she finished the woman with an appointment and the next people arrived, she helped them sign in and acknowledged thier appointment. They were early. She then comes and tells me the same- that she has full appointments all day (every ten minutes) and isn't taking walk ins...."REALLY?" I say as I scan the entirely empty waiting area. The people she's taking in even try to offer to wait and let me go next but she was having none of that. WTF? These labs don't even take 10 minutes to do labs but this woman wasn't going to work any harder than necessary. Unbelievable. I've waited as a walk in at Quest labs before, with near full waiting rooms, but never have I been given this sort of treatment. What a terrible facility and waste of my time. read more

I'd give them 0 stars if I could. I was sent to them for a standard blood test by the clinic on the 5th floor, right above them. I hadn't made an appointment because nobody told me I should have done it in the first place, and my physician at the clinic said they regularly sent patients for blood tests without appointments. There was no staff at the entrance managing the space, so I sat at a chair along with other patients. After some time, somebody from the staff came in. When I asked about the process, she told me I'm a 'walk-in' and will have to wait. I waited for a while, and then asked again how long I would need to wait, approximately, as I was on a break from my job and needed to manage my time. She became rude and said I was a 'walk-in' so she can't assess the wait time - though she should, given her every-day experience with 'walk-in' cases. It's not rocket science anyway. More time passed and I asked again as I wanted to know if it'd take them 20 minutes or 5 hours. She became very rude and started speaking to another nurse, saying I was being a difficult patient - only because I wanted to know how long I'd have to approximately wait in order to manage my time during a workday. And they made it sound like it's my fault I hadn't make an appointment - even though I didn't know I had to make one in the first place. I asked if I could make an appointment for a different day and they told me I should go to the website. I left, infuriated, with no intention to go back. Somebody should train these nurses and medical staff on how to act professionally and with respect towards patients, clients, and people in general. read more

The woman (Flor) who did my blood test today literally made my cry as I was leaving. She was so completely nasty to me I'm still trying to make heads or tales of it. She called me in and then went to tend to another patient about something. I put the paper that my doc gave me down on the counter and signed the bottom line where it said to sign. As I was finished signing, she came back in the room and said "WHAT ARE YOU DOING? WHAT DO YOU THINK YOURE DOING? YOU DONT EVER DO THAT. DONT EVER DO THAT AGAIN." I was so taken aback, I just sat down and said I was sorry and that I thought I had to sign the paper. She then said "I DONT EVEN NEED YOUR PAPER" and then grabbed the paper and threw it in the trash. She then started to speak to me like nothing happened and asked "How are you today?" I then said that I was fine until she spoke to me like that. She said she was sorry and said for me not to be mad at her. I said nothing. I'm sorry, but it's very difficult to switch gears that fast after someone is so nasty to you. As I was leaving she said "You don't have to be mad at me." I then heard her spraying everything down and wiping literally everywhere in the room. I then broke down in the elevator. I was so upset and scared and sad. I don't know if she was mad that I used her pen to sign my paper and put the paper on "her" counter, or if she was just having a bad day, but the way she treated me was completely unnecessary. I work in a hospital and I'm afraid of COVID as well. But this type of behavior is SO mean and unnecessary. I understand if she is concerned about germs during this time and maybe I should've asked her first before signing the paper with her pen, but there is absolutely NO excuse to treat someone like a piece of garbage. I will NOT be going to to this location again. Unfortunately I'll have to go out of my way to get bloodwork done because of this. This location was two floors down from my Drs office. I really hope someone speaks to Flor about the way she treats people. I just hope she doesn't screw with my blood samples. It's sad that I have to worry about that on top of being treated terribly. I had Jenny take my blood. I ran to the appt, five minutes late, right before they were closing. They let me sign in (warning that the system may not take me bc I missed my appt time), but the system took me. Jenny sat me down right away, was quick, professional, and found my veins right away--which is NOT an easy task, I've heard from others taking my blood. I was in and out in 10 mins. I'd been to this location before with a longer wait and during a crowded time, and remember them being efficient and systematic about seeing patients. Thank you! read more

The nurse who took my blood hurt my arm and stuck the needle in without drawing any blood, she went too deep and it was almost like it was her first day. She didn't even apologize at first. I was so mad but, was forced to continue to stay there while she switched with someone else to draw blood. SINAI was not set up in their system as a health institution and could not process my blood work. There is no way Quest Diagnostics doesn't work with Mt. Sinai in NYC that is absolutely idiotic. They are rude, unhelpful and cold. I would not want the staff touching me with a ten foot pole even if they would do my blood work. I cannot believe how bad my experience was. This is a provisional review. I don't know what the experience of actually having a blood draw/blood test done is like, but I can tell you that trying to call to get information--like do you accept my husband's insurance, and are any special preparations needed for the test his doctor requested--is totally impossible. The one phone number listed is never answered by a human being. And I have left message....after message....after message.... And no one has ever bothered calling me back. Whenever I see instructions to call the lab for such and such information, I griti my teeth. Yeah. Sure. In your dreams. I wish this could be done at another lab! read more

Unlike other reviewers of this location, I prefer the 14th Street Quest to other Manhattan locations. Okay, by now, hopefully we have all learned that making an appointment is not the way to go with Quest. You better just show up the second they open the doors if you want to be in and out of there. This is one of the cleaner locations in the city as well. Yeah, it's in a basement and is kind of dingy, yeah, they run behind on their appointments...but they are quick about drawing your blood and getting you out of there. The online reservation system is cool, but pointless. I am a tough draw. My veins are tiny and I'm the pass-out type...meaning that I'll faint if I even see the needle. The phlebotomist drew my blood on the first try. When she saw that I was getting faint, she allowed me to sit down in the back until I came to, even though the waiting room was full of people. After a fiasco yesterday at a different Quest location, I decided to give this one a try since it's only 20 minutes from my office and it had some positive Yelp reviews. There is no one to check you in but that's okay! There is a sign-in chart. One of the ladies (there are two of them) checks the chart after they finish with a patient. They then sit you down and go over your insurance, paperwork, etc. Once that's done, you either give your urine sample or just go straight to the bloodwork. My phlebotomist was Roseanne and was amazing! She's a huge Yankee fan so we had a lot to talk about as she drew my blood. She also found a vein in 5 seconds (yes, I counted since I have tiny veins that most people can never find). The facility is clean and the walls are bright green, which is strangely welcoming. The elevator rocks the entire way up so if you're scared of them like I am, opt for the stairs (they're only on the third floor). Great place to get labwork done! read more

The process of getting blood drawn was totally fine other than somewhat of a wait, but my lab results were lost.... nobody has any record of my tests and nobody answers the phone here. I've been unable to reach any human being at Quest at any location. I'll now have to get my blood drawn a second time, obviously not coming back here to do so. read more

This is more directed at the company than the location, but it was a horrible experience. They had no phone line for me to call and ask questions so I had to direct my questions to my insurance provider. I followed the instructions they gave me, but I guess they weren't sufficient to do the test at Quest. The employees couldn't help me either - I offered to pay out of pocket if they could give me a price. They have no receptionist so no one knew how much it would be. Eventually I was completely turned away with no direction on how to actually obtain the test. This is after I agreed for them to take a photo of my license, so I presume they will be selling my information and I couldn't even get the test I needed. read more

I've never had to wait longer than five minutes. The first time was a walk-in and the second time I was late for an appointment I made. But I was taken right away and was out of there super fast. The waiting room is nice and clean if you do have to wait. Water is available if needed, such as when you have a fasting blood test. Both times have been completely painless as well, I'm happy to say. I'm one of those people with veins that like to hide and roll away. So I've had people prick me multiple times and even resort to taking blood from my hand. The woman that works at this location, however, is a pro in every sense of the word. She finds one vein and gets it in a single shot. Much appreciated! read more

I normally don't write reviews about blood labs, but after being rejected by two Brooklyn quest locations because they did not offer the TB-Gold test, I made the appointment online at the quest website. I didn't have high hopes coming here, but was surprised that this location did a great job. I made the appointment for 10:45 am, and was seen in 5 minutes. This quest location is on the 3rd floor of the Chelsea Village Medical Building. The waiting room was clean. They had cold water! The lab tech told me to write my insurance info on the requisition form and follow him to the lab cubicles down the hall. The bathroom was clean and the techs are very professional. Arrived at 9:45am on a Friday as a walk in, checked my self in on the tablet and was called in for my blood work 15 min later, the lady who took care of me was super nice, logged in all my insurance and test info and painlessly drew my blood. No bruise or discomfort. Was out by 10:25am and on my way to work. Location is pretty bare but that's your usual lab vibe, nothing out of the ordinary. Just thought I'd leave a review because I think that current rating is a little harsh! read more

Yesterday, i walked into the West 14 Street location of Quest Diagnostics just before the posted closing time of 4pm. An unscheduled- drop in for blood work needed for a medical appointment in 2 days, Apart from the one client in her lab, I would obviously be the last person for the day. The phlebotomist, Flor, graciously said she would see me and within 20 minutes, the blood was drawn -painlessly- insurance info recorded and I was out the door. The combination of professionalism and courtesy that I experienced makes me think that Quest in lucky to have Flor working for them. read more

I read what other yelpers advised about just showing up right when they open the doors and arrived at 8:00am on the dot. I had schlepped through the rain after waking up an hour early to get this in before work. Oh, I had already waited at another location for a half hour before giving up. And I had to make an appointment a DAYS in advance. For routine blood work that takes 5 minutes at other labs. But as I stood in Quest dripping with rain the technician smugly told me that he couldn't accept my form because it wasn't properly filled out. Like the DMV. F you. I asked him if I could complete the parts my doctor's office didn't complete and he smugly told me I could have 2 minutes ago before he saw it was incomplete. I get it. You deal with tough cliental all day. But I was here to get blood work as part of a serious medical condition. I'm not trying to scam pills off a pharmacist. I can't really think of any scam around sending information about my health to my doctor. read more

They were rude and then when I tried making an apptment, there were none available. The test must be submitted today. Avoid this lab and pay attention to all the bad reviews. read more

Had a AAA+++ experience. Saw Maria who drew lots of blood. 14 vials! She got the vein first try and I didn't even feel a prick when she inserted the needle. Simply amazing. She was also extremely sweet and helpful. I had phoned early, before they opened, and made a phone appointment for the only one available. In the afternoon. Then read a review from someone who was a walk-in and was seen within 10 minutes, recommending to get there early in the day. So I decided to take my chances, went there arriving a few minutes after 8am, when they open, and was seen within about 20 minutes. Great experience!!!! read more

Quest drew blood on September 11. Staff spent 30 minutes on computer and was very rude. They called later to report they broke a vial of blood and came to my home to draw more blood. The test results were never sent to my physician, as of September 19 or posted on Myquest record. read more

This place really stinks. Aside from the often rude staff, they are incompetent. They just lost a 24 hour urine test that I brought in almost a month ago, and the results are critical to my health. And this is not the first time they've lost a test. But really, how does a lab lose a gallon container of urine in a bright red plastic bottle. They should have their license revoked. read more
