Quest is the most amazing martial arts school around! This was my son's first experience. My son attended here for a year and went through the basic program while he was 7 and 8. We just finished our first year in February 2015. The teachers were awesome - 1. They know how to work with kids (patient and encouraging) and are high energy. 2. They make it interesting while still teaching great karate (because karate has a lot of repetition). 3. They know each child by name and they get to know your child over the course of being there. 4. They are extremely consistent in everything they do and teach. 5. The kids just love them and look up to them. 6. The teachers show the kids so much respect and vice versa. Master Lawrence (the owner) and Mr. Gunther (the manager) are also amazing. They are so personable and warm. They welcome you each and every time. They are always available if you have any questions or need anything. They also have fun and free activities throughout the year for friends and family to participate in. If you are looking for a karate studio for your children...this is the place to be. I think it's quite a feat to participate twice per week for over a year and only have AMAZING things to say. This Karate studio is incredible. They're so great with kids. My 4 year-old was apprehensive the first few weeks, but the Quest teachers were gentle and patient, and their persistence paid off. It's been 6 months now that my twins have been going and their confidence is through the roof! I'm so impressed with their teaching style, and the work ethic... I can't say enough about them. They teach more than just the skills, but life skills, and character building. My girls are really enjoying themselves! Every instructor there is professional yet makes it really fun. I've watched Quest work with different age groups and they really know how to reach the students. Great energy, great studio... and as a parent... one of my twins got a handwritten postcard in the mail from a teacher. She commended her on her hard work and let her know she recognized her efforts. So I took my 3 year old son to this martial arts place I thought everything was going to be fine I already even pre paid for everything it was going to be too private lessons to see what my son is able to do my son was really excited got his own uniform and was ready to start the instructor even asked what is the main goal for this and I said to build up my son's attention span Focus more and energy Outlet the instructor said great that is what most parents come here for my son being 3 years old was very excited and was doing everything the instructor was asking I was impressed myself on how good he was paying attention and my son is not that well at talking yet he was even talking better too cuz I know how excited he was to start this he did his jumping jacks he stood still he did everything he was supposed to but when the instructor told him to bow and my son would not bow the instructor turned and looked at me and said he is not ready I saw the look at my son's face whenever I take my son to the bathroom to take off the uniform that we paid for but said we needed to get a refund he was crying and Bowing in the bathroom saying that he still wanted to do this I didn't know what to tell my son because these guys said they would not train him this gentleman didn't even spend 15 minutes with my son and told us to get a refund sorry for the bad review i never do these but you deserve it my son was more than ready fuck you guys!!! read more

The first thing that caught my attention was how awesome the instructors were. In addition to having a healthy activity to share with my kids that helps them grow physically, mentally and emotionally, I have experienced tangible positive change in my own life and health. In the 1 year since I've been at Quest, I have lost 40 lbs and am in the best shape I've been in since high school. Shortly before signing up, I was diagnosed with an arthritic condition in my spine that was causing shortness in breath and chronic pain. We've only been coming here for a few months but I've been very impressed. The teachers are amazing, and my 7 year old son's confidence grows with every class. Our three boys all went here. Two for year, and our oldest one for two years. The instructors here are amazing! They are passionate not only about martial arts, but also about bring the best out of every student that participates in their program. I can literally list all the instructors and what makes them awesome, but that would take too long. Needless to say we highly recommend this place for your kids. I will share this one story: A friend of mine took his kid to another martial arts studio in the greater Los Angeles area that shall remain unnamed (simply because I don't know the name of it.) After just one class his kid was petrified and scare to attempt martial arts at all. Well they went to a birthday party we had at Quest, and initially the kid was anxious, and tearful, but after about 2 minutes of interacting with the cool instructors, he was into it and having a blast! We would still be going to this studio, however due to a new position in a different city we moved too far away... Bonus, the instructors helped us find a new studio for our kids to join. Mr. Gunther was in the city we moved to in order to visit family/friends, and he went out of his way to check, out a few studios and see if they were a good fit for my son. I was visiting from out of town and a friend recommended I try the "cage fitness" class offered at Quest. What a great class! It was a 30 minute full body workout. I loved the fact that I could get a complete full body workout done in 30 minutes. The class covered everything...upper body, lower body, cardio, and taking out my aggressions pounding on a body bag! Lots of fun! Instructor was great! He was very energetic and very encouraging, and gave us ways to modify the workout, if we needed to. It's been a while since I had placed a review on yelp but what I can say is my 9 year old son Leander has improved so much other than learning skills, he's more confident than ever! To begin with I enrolled both my son and daughter here in July 2015. After 4 mos, my daughter decided she wanted to get involve with dance instead, which I did support her decision. Getting back to the story, as my son continues the Intermmediate program, he just keeps on progressing. Now that he's part of their Black Belt Club for the last 6 mos, he's totally loving it! I even recalled sometime last year questioning him about what he wants to be when he gets older and his response: "I want to be a Karate Teacher so I can help the little kids stay away from bullies" I was like, Wow Leander that's a real big deal! As far as reviews, I'd have to say the instructors have such great qualities as individuals with professionalism, patience, and uses lots of positive approach when a student is struggling, needing help. I just found recently they opened a second new location in West Hills. Good to know and happy to hear this studio deserves another location! read more
