During the Pandemic, they were a lifesaver. I did once per week online training, and when I returned to in-person, they were respectful of wearing masks (and still will if you ask them to). They installed ceiling fans to keep the air circulation moving. They have one on one training as well as a great class called Strong Balance. They also offer workshops to inspire and motivate people to step out of their comfort zone and try something new. Each week, I refer several people to KOA Fit. We have very complimentary practices. Fortunately, I have been taking Koa Fit exercise classes and doing personal training with Brenna Backe for 9 years. Despite having severe spinal stenosis which causes sciatic pain in my legs, my training with Brenna has helped me maintain strength and flexibility as I age. I live in a townhouse with 3 flights of stairs, so I climb about 100 steps a day, with no pain or problem. My core is strong and I can do planks, squats, bridges and other exercises that help me keep doing daily activities easily. The personal home exercise program that Brenna has created for me and which she continuously updates with videos that I use at home is an invaluable part of my daily routine. Over the years I have dealt various injuries, sometimes with the help of physiatrists and physical therapists. They have all told me that the years of work I have done with Brenna have clearly made a significant difference in my maintaining a good level of functional fitness. Jason worked patiently with me on all-over fitness and it didn't take long before I hit that goal. I've stayed with Jason, sometimes doing training session time with him and lots of work on my own at the gym. He's also amazing when I'm hurt, helping to figure out what I need to do to get back (I just turned 52) and how to avoid that happening again. I rarely have fitness goals, but this year I set another: breaking the pull-up record at my gym (29). While most of the studios in town emphasize cardio OR strength - or risk injury through high-impact exercises - PeaksFit integrates BOTH in a low-impact and approachable way (that said, be forewarned that you WILL be sore afterwards!). Because their workouts get your heart pumping through strength training, it's essentially like getting two workouts in one. Better yet, each day is a different style of evidenced-based focus - HIIT, plyo, resistance, strength, circuit, arms/abs, legs/glutes - you'll find it all here throughout the week rather than the same old style day after day. Because the owners are your trainers, they are invested in the quality of each person's workout, with an emphasis not on maintenance but on gains (whatever that might mean for YOU). I am always so impressed and grateful for the fact that they are aware of any limitations I may have - such as injuries, or injury-prone areas. I really enjoy Lagree as a workout compliment to the rest of my training, I like that it's low impact and really works all those little muscles you probably wouldn't hit otherwise. I like all the music the instructors play here, it makes the class go a little faster/easier etc., but don't get me wrong - this is HARD! I've been going for a week and a half and while my understanding of what to do when has gotten a little better, actually doing it is still really hard, and I often leave wobbling.
