Where do I begin? My husband and I were in need of a vehicle. We were on our way to the Honda…read moredealership but we stopped by John Johnson Select Used Cars. Tony Moretti greeted us in the parking lot as we were looking at a Jeep Cherokee. We decided to buy it and were informed the vehicle had an oil change and was maintenanced. When we test drove the car, I noticed only one key. I inquired about the second and Tony said that it was probably available but they wouldn't have it until the plates came in. He told us if they didn't, they would cut us a new one. Ok, no problem! Tony completed the lease agreement at their used lot and fortunately gave me a signed copy. He informed us of the Powertrain Warranty which was to be included. I'm glad he wrote it down on the lease! They did not have the ability to process the paperwork at their location so he drove us up to Johnson Dodge. At JD, they told us they couldn't get us in our price range so we increased our down payment as much as we could but it still wasn't enough to get us within budget. Strange, but it wasn't too bad, so be it. They had us sign off on the lease through a digital pad so the numbers weren't visible for us to see but the only change made from point A to point B was the increase in the down payment. When we left the lot, I noticed the maintenance message said the car needed an oil change. Maybe they forgot to reset the message? Fast forward two weeks. We received our first statement. I noticed the principal balance seemed rather high considering our down payment was a third of the cost. This prompted me to pull the paperwork from the dealership. To our surprise, they tacked on $3000 for the Powertrain Warranty!! What the...?! I immediately call them to find out the story. I spoke to Tom, who told me that the lender required us to purchase the warranty in order to approve us for the loan. He also claimed they wanted to charge an 8% interest rate, and in order to get a better rate, we had to purchase the warranty. That didn't make any sense so of course I confirm that information with the lender, which to no surprise, ended up being a total lie. If it was valid, why would they not have said something sooner? We called them out on it and faught tooth and nail to get them to fix the issue. They finally agreed to cut a check and pay down the balance but it would take a few weeks. Now I'm paying interest on the $3000! Finally, when the plates came in, we inquired about the key again. They told us there wasn't a second key and that we would have to pay $300 for it! Seriously??!! Not to mention, during the battle we kept addressing the oil change situation and they wouldn't even acknowledge it. Of course this was the least of my concerns. Since they were unwilling to help, I made a call to John Johnson himself to fill him in on our experience. Fortunately, he made it right. I went back in and they drew up a new loan, putting us back into our initial price range, and cut me the second key I was promised. At this point, I asked the girl in the service department if an oil change had ever been done to the car. She looked it up in the system and confirmed it did NOT. So I asked her if they did oil changes to the used cars. Her response was yes. So I asked if mine would be done too. She told me they have a coupon for a $20 oil change!! Seriously?!?! I'll go down the road and spend $40 for an oil change out of principle. So my advice to anyone reading this, go to the Honda dealership. PS I should mention they bribe people for reviews... hence all the "good" ratings. Don't be fooled. I was offered $50 to write a favorable review. Glad I waited.

I was like whhaaat.....The owner did not honor my booking for a pickup instead. Reminder...I had taken the train to this place. Left me stranded told they would honor the price but not the unlimited mileage. Was told 49 cents a mile??? that would have been a 100 dollars more. Did not offer to send me to another place had to walk to the library. Not that far but I am disabled and really can't walk that far. Anyways...From the library I went online and booked on enterprise. Same website and for a pickup(same basic price)and the miles were 150 free. perfect so I would go just a little bit over. Did I mention enterprise picked me up from where I was and they said they get a laugh from people they actually pick up from avis and take their business. Next time I'll fork over the extra 2 or 3 dollars and go with enterprise.

Communication was lacking. I got one email in that entire time. I had to physically drive to service department to get updates only to be told truck was not ready. It's been six days since since I picked up the truck. On that day, I drove by the dealership and discovered my truck was "fixed". I told the service manager Matt that I would pick up my truck in 2 hours and he said he need to finish the paperwork anyway. I went to the dealership and was told my repair sheet would be emailed to me. It's been 6 days and still nothing, nada, zilch on the repair sheet. After I picked the truck up I noticed that there was 99 additional miles on the vehicle. To make matters worse, the "repair" disconnected the use of OnStar and I cannot use Google Maps or any application that requires the use of OnStar. I also cannot use wireless updates on my own driveway. Contacted the 800 number for OnStar and they told me to bring it back to the dealer for the fix. Needless to say, because of this incompetence, I will never go to Motion Chevrolet for anything, including service, buying or leasing a new or used car.

I have never been more disgusted with a dealership experience than I have been with Johnson Dodge…read more I brought my 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer in for a suspension issue and what followed was months of frustration, excuses, and wasted time. My vehicle spent over three months at the dealership, and despite multiple repair attempts, it was returned to me with the exact same issue it was originally brought in for. Even worse, it now has additional warning messages and problems that were not present before. As a customer, I was repeatedly assured that the problem had been diagnosed and repaired, only to find out that nothing had actually been resolved. After being without my vehicle for months, rearranging family plans, and dealing with constant inconvenience, I expected accountability and a genuine effort to make things right. Instead, I was met with poor communication and what felt like complete indifference to the hardship this situation caused. I am a father of four. Reliable transportation is not a luxury for my family--it is a necessity. The amount of stress and disruption this experience created was completely unacceptable. To add insult to injury, after all of this time and inconvenience, the dealership's offer to resolve the situation showed little regard for what my family and I had endured. What disgusts me most is that after months in their possession and countless opportunities to correct the problem, I was handed back a vehicle with the same unresolved issue and expected to accept it. That is not customer service. That is not standing behind your work. I trusted Johnson Dodge to do the right thing. Unfortunately, they completely failed to meet even the most basic expectations. Based on my experience, I would strongly caution anyone considering doing business with this dealership.

After not having much luck selling it on my own, I decided to contact a few different used car companies. After meeting with a few establishments that really did not impress or appeal to me at all, I finally found Cash for Cars Incorporated (also known as E Mecca Auto Sales). When I first called them they were very honest with me and told me exactly what I needed to do to sell my car. They didn't try to force me into anything and I didn't feel like I was being rushed or pressured at all. I was given a reasonable quote over the phone and when I finally came down to their lot, they came right out to my car and went over all the details with me step by step. They took their time with me and made me feel like I was their most important customer. The cash offer they made me on my truck was very reasonable and they gave me cash right on the spot! The whole process could not have been easier, and the majority of the time I spent there was spent just chatting with the guys on the lot. Everyone I dealt with was extremely friendly and they all made me feel very welcome and appreciated. I know that selling a car can be a difficult and stressful thing to take care of, but the guys here make it simple and fun. I never thought I'd be able to sell my truck for cash on the same day, and I never thought it would have been as easy as it was. I will definitely do business with them again in the future, and I w ill be sure to tell my friends about it. I highly suggest Cash for Cars, and I am proud to be writing this review. If you need to sell your car, truck, van, or SUV and you want cash on the SAME day, this is the only place to go. Going anywhere else is just a waste of time and money. Rick M.

Don't believe the 5 star ratings. Towne Hyundai of Hackettstown is by far the worst dealership I…read morehave ever dealt with. Clown show dealership. Complete hot mess all day. Purchased a 2023 Hyundai Elantra on 2/16/26. After buying the car, the Sales Manager tells me that their is an issue with the car, an issue that was never mentioned until the paperwork was completed. Sales manager, Rafael Arismendi, tells me there are sensors that need to be replaced because the maintenance light won't turn off. The Sales person, Leslie, tells me I have a confirmed appointment to come back. When I get home I reset the maintenance service interval without issue. Service department is so totally clueless that they cannot reset the maintenance interval?! Inexperienced and incompetent. No way these guys are ASE certified. I did keep the appointment because there was a lot of noise coming from the passenger front window. I show up for my appointment and the Service Manager tells me I don't have an appointment. Tells the guy after me the same thing. That guy is like, I literally have a text confirmation. As for the passenger door window, turns out the Towne Hyundai in Denville performed undisclosed work on the vehicle and forgot to put some bolts back in, as per the Service Manager. Who knows what they were doing in that door, as no one will tell me. The next day I smell antifreeze. I open the hood to find the coolant reservoir at the Low mark with coolant all over the engine. The coolant reservoir cap was found to be not fully closed. Filled it up myself, as I wasn't going to return to the dealership for that. Drive the vehicle for about a week and the brakes started having issues. Brake pads were not releasing, seized. I took the wheels off and took pictures and video of everything. Brake pads were fused to all rotors, front and back. Turns out the mechanic at Denville never greased the caliper slide pins, brake tabs or hardware. Talked to the service manager about it and he said Denville would be the best option because performed all the work on the car. Towne Hyundai of Denville will be receiving a 1 star review for the terrible experience I had with them. I made them resurface the rotors and replace the pads. Car was on the lift in the service bay at Denville, and had to explain to the mechanic what the issues were and why they happened. Both the Service manager and advisor fought tooth and nail with me but I wasn't having any of it. Exactly why I disassembled and took pictures and video. Denville mechanics can't be ASE certified either. The best part, a week later it's exactly the same, brakes grabbing/dragging. Complete waste of 4 hours driving. It took Towne Hyundai of Hackettstown 3 weeks to pay my trade in off. They blamed the bank for not cashing the check, but never provided any proof of delivery. Every time I called the bank I was told they haven't received the payment. Sales Manager was supposed to call me back but never did. Plates and registration. Yet another fiasco. Called several times and was always given a run around. Beatrice was the one I spoke to every time. Always the same experience. A lot of I don't knows, should be any day. Today, March 12th, 2026, I called and spoke to Beatrice once again. Same old I dunno. I tell her that my temporary is expiring on March 15th, 2026. She tells me oh you have a grace period of up to 10 days. Incompetence graduated to lies. Obviously Towne Hyundai of Hackettstown never submitted the information to the DMV, almost 1 month after purchasing the car. They charge that ridiculous DOC fee and sit on your paperwork until the last minute. If customers were allowed to take the paperwork to DMV they could have the registration and plates same day. Private party sales can be done same day. Don't let the dealership fool you into believing it's the DMVs fault. It's their fault all day for not following through in a timely manner. That DOC fee is bogus fee, just a moneymaker for the dealership. To matters worse, they sit on your paperwork till the last minute. Never again!
