We are in the process of selling my car, so we needed a quick smog check. Most other places were closed by the time I got off work, so we found and called here 20 minutes before closing. They encouraged us to come in even at that hour, so we drove over and got there 6 minutes before closing. They were extremely professional and friendly, said performing a smog check was no problem, 10 minutes they said. They also honored our $20 Yelp coupon so the check plus certificate came out to be $50. Exactly 10 minutes later, keys and smog certificate were in my hand, 3 minutes past their closing time. I don't write reviews but this place don't get enough credit where its due. I got ripped off from 4 less smog in palo alto. That place charged me $100 +$8 cert for a regular smog check.not STAR my truck didn't pass and told me to drive around and come back and he will only charge me half off +$8 cert. What a joke. I found quick smog and saw they were open until 7. I called at 6:30 and asked if I can come now. He said yes and I asked how much he said $75 but they have a $20 off so $55 including cert. Told him I'll be there 10 min. Got there almost 6:45 pm and was out in 10 min. The guy is super chill. I came here before in my other truck and was definitely pleased with their service. The technician Steven was very nice to talk to and really knew what he was doing, and even let me watch the test. I would have appreciated if they actually had fair pricing and let customers know about potential discounts, instead of gouging customers for 61.75 + 8.25 for certification. How wrong could a smog place be? Its usually very straight forward and quick. This one is not. Anselmo Salazar is dishonest and does not honor his word. Be sure to have him write down his usual $35 coupon discount before you sign the work order. No matter what agreement you have face to face with him for price, including paying him in cash - when its time to pay at the end of the smog, if the price after coupon is not written, you will have a really unpleasant surprise. if you bring your previous smog receipts with the discount coupon written, he will deny it was true, even when you show the credit card receipt to him :-) read more

I went in in a Saturday afternoon. They gave a quote of $60 + 8.75 cert fee initially. I show them the coupon on line then they cut the price to 40 + 8.75. Then I show them other people paid 28.75 on Yelp then they cut down to 28.75. People were nice here. But I don't think this is an honest way to do business. read more

I visited Quiksmog for my standard smog check, based upon locality, and overall rating. Anselmo assisted me, wrapping up the test just short of his Tuesday 7pm closing time. The smog check was flawless. No claimed need of repairs. My only regret was the price. Smog Test: $61.75, Certificate $8.25, less $20.00 online coupon. Total Cost: $50.00 I went to an Alameda County smog test location two years ago, and this is my only vehicle. Therefore, I do not have enough personal data points to determine how this pricing compares to that of other test stations. So I paid my $70, thinking it was standard, until my dad told me that I was ripped off like none other. I guess it's partially my fault for not being smarter about it, but why do we have to know the secret password to get in? Sadness. I did have to wait awhile since there was another car in front of me. The guy who did the test was nice. Once my car got in, it took about 10 minutes or so to run the whole thing. I just talked with my roommate and he said he paid $65 for the exact same service (same sized car, request, etc.) at the exact same location just a few weeks after me. Is the cost arbitrary? Firstly the technician and his assistant were courteous and have a smiling face. Not the typical rude people i have seen at other similar shops. Secondly, I paid $38 as I called them before going there and that was the quote given over the phone. Of course when I reached the place, I was given another quote for $70. I got there early right when they opened at 8am on a Saturday. There was no wait. I had tried to get smogged elsewhere a week ago but was told I had aftermarket parts (even though everything was OEM) and wouldn't pass. I let Steve the tech, know what the other shop said and because Steve is expertly trained (and knows what he's looking at) he started the process, explained to me what was being looked at and done. BEAWARE!!!! They are running a scam! We took my husband's car there to get a smog test. They failed him saying he had the wrong catalytic converter. We took it to a mechanic in Los Altos and they confirmed that the correct catalytic converter is int he car and cross referenced it with the DMV list. I went back and showed the manager (apparently he said said he was the manager, but I don't think he was) and he said the mechanic is wrong and that he would send us to his friend downt he block to have it fixed. I said "No way, that is a total scam!" and he got angry and told me "Then go elsewhere then." I may be blond, but I'm not an idiot. I can smell a rat when I see one. And this place is full of them. We have no had to get the DMV involved and they are looking into this place. DO NOT GO HERE for a smog test!!!! read more

My husband and I took our cars together for smog tests. Because I brought the $20 off coupon from their website and had 2 vehicles, he did both tests for $80 total ($40 each). Personally, I find this price high because in my home state, where my car is registered, emissions testing is free, but I digress. Because my car is registered out of state, I have had to have my results sent to the DMV out of state, which has not been a problem in the past. I asked the employee multiple times if this was an option they provided and he told me yes. Afterwards I repeated, 'so it is sent to my DMV out of state and I don't have to mail anything?' a few more times he said "you're all set. You do not need to do anything" Now, two months later when I am trying to get my registration sticker, I am being told that my emissions test is not in the system. I called Quik Smog and am being told that they do not do out of state emissions. I have to mail it in myself--that's why I went 2 months ago to have time to get it through the system! Personally, I believe they lied to me to get my business. I told them that I only wanted an emissions test if they could send it out of state for me, like other businesses have done in the past. Because they did not want to lose a customer, they lied to me about their services multiple times. I rate this company unethical for their actions and would not recommend them to others. read more

I discovered this smog place not too long ago as my car needed to be smogged by a Star certified location. I have gotten two of my old cars smogged here with ANSELMO and both times it has been a positive experience. Both cars passed easily. Anselmo is a really nice guy, and does not appear to be crooked like the typical auto mechanic or smog technician. He was very careful not to scratch my car. He checked the tire pressure on all 4 tires and even pumped air in my front tires as they were a little flat. No smog technician has ever done that for me in the past. That was extremely kind of him. Some of these other guys that do smog at the gas station like 76, Shell, Valero don't appear to be trustworthy. They look like they fidget the tests so they can say there is something wrong with your car. They will either make some extra money by pretending to fix it at their shop or send you to their friend's shop and then they can split the profit. These places initially advertise a lower smog check price and then get you in the end. As long as Anselmo is still working this Quiksmog, I will bring my cars to get smogged here.
