My AC stopped working and I came to Sunnyvale Auto Care. I did call ahead (at like 3:30pm and they closed at 5pm) to make sure they could see me today. Due to other delays I wasn't able to show up until 4:30pm. Took a while to check in as the staff were busy on the phone and assisting others, but was finally able to check in after some time. They weren't too happy about how late I came but still took my car in ASAP without a fight. They explained the potential costs to me. First my car needed a diagnosis before we could pinpoint the problem. And the "fix" they had for me, was usually only 80-90% successful so it was up to me whether I wanted to do it / pay for it. They also encouraged me to check the price with Honda. I researched (very quickly, like less than 2 mins) and Sunnyvale Auto Care was cheaper and I was on a time crunch so I told them to go ahead. But all these things they did, made me very comfortable as a customer. It seems like they actually care and want the best for me and my car. It has been a hot summer, especially when your AC goes out and your commute is 2 hours round trip from your house. My dad gave me a recommendation as his car's AC needed more Freon. I called up on a Monday, spoke to Arnell, and dropped in my car at around 1 pm and my car was finished at 3:30 pm. Total cost was $159 without tax. They take all major credit cards as well. I could have watch YouTube and probably added more Freon myself. I could have saved prob $100 but why hassle with it. The time and energy to do it would have taken me longer. However when I got my car back there were black fingerprints all over my interior door (handle, armrest, etc) along with several super dirty footprints on my driver side floor mat. Even after I showed him his own website, he refused to honor the website pricing. He wanted to charge me $150 to do the inspection. I told him that was not appropriate. I left and drove down the street and was immediately able to get a smog check for the SAME PRICE as his website in less than 15 minutes! So what was this rare, unusual vehicle that required all this "special" handling and "difficult" inspection? An ordinary old 2003 Ford E250 van. I've been getting this van smogged for over ten years and am not new to the experience. It's really unfortunate that a few "bad actors" should give the whole business a bad name. There was one check-in code after their maintenance they return the car with multiple codes.  Literally, it took them over 3 weeks to give back the car without any repair. I have to tell them to give it back as they are incapable to do anything with the car with this long. It was mentally and financially stressful to deal with them. I have to take the car to the dealership to fix all problems they have created. I have videos recording the mechanic leaving the covers open and left inside the engine and then taking it out from the engine belt when I noticed and mentioned that it was wrong. They left and return the car with many problems and loose parts. They could kill someone on the highway if they left things loose and might be an accident or something. Failed to the deceptive advertising from the owner and made appointment for the simple smog test. Arrived in time. Was told, that for my old car needed a special employee, who will come in 10 minutes. Then, I was told that for my car, 15 minutes advertised turnaround is impossible, and I should wait for at least an hour. After 20 minutes, the special employee still has not returned from Safeway. When I complained to the owner that the advertising was improper, got very rude response, that he is not able to take in account all conditions. Sure enough, did a smog check less than 1 mile at a different shop, which took me exactly 15 minutes. The screaming owner assuring me that no one can do that in less than an hour was dead wrong! Smog check was done right away, and they advised that the brake pads were cheap and rotors should have been resurfaced (?) at same time. I drove from San Diego to San Jose on a Friday to help move my daughter into her dorm - a good 8 hour drive.  I needed to drive back Sunday to be at work by Monday. Of all the horrors I woke up Saturday morning only to find my car wouldn't start.  As a woman traveling alone far from home it was the worst feeling.  I tried calling Ford and then about any service I could think of and nobody would help until Monday or maybe Tuesday.  I found these folks by luck and they agreed to at least look at it that day. Not only did they repair the electrical issue I was having, but they solved a brake problem that Ford failed to fix.  This came in really handy for the 8 hour drive I managed to do on time the next day.  They had the car back to me that day and the prices were much better than I would have got elsewhere. I couldn't be happier and more appreciative.  They really helped out in a scary and busy situation.  On top of that, they explained all the repairs clearly to me and were very courteous and friendly.  Definitely give them an A++. Excellent customer service! The staff here are very patient and understanding. The nearby Shell had a defective air unit that removed all the air in our car without any warning. We were left with around 10 psi in all of our tires. When we called Sunnyvale Auto Care, he immediately said that he will assist us, which is amazing given that the BMW dealership that we had bought our car from did not help us. Within seconds of us showing up, we were helped and this issue was resolved. He also refused to accept any money for his service. Called them up, asked them if there was anyone in the queue, showed up and 15 minutes later done. The moral of the story, you really get for what you pay. I had a check engine light on and needed a Star smog test. When I called, I asked if there was a fee for the check engine diagnosis. They said $120 but that it would be applied to any work that needed to be done. They did the diagnosis and said I needed a battery, but they wouldn't reduce the cost of replacing the battery ($215) by the diagnosis fee. I thought the price for the battery was high and was unhappy that they wouldn't reduce the price by any portion of the diagnosis fee. So I paid $120 for the Dx fee & $58.20 for the smog check and will get my battery elsewhere. read more
