The woman in the framing section helped me…read morepick out an affordable frame, framed the poster, and even secured D-ring hangers on the sides (the place where I'm hanging it requires them). She did this all for the price of the frame and was very kind and pleasant. This saved me so much trouble and I really appreciate it. In the past, this Michaels seemed to have a staff shortage, and the checkout was a drag. I know the self-checkout isn't new here, but it has changed everything; it's fast and efficient, leaving the staff able to focus on helping the customers. Anyway, I really like this location and the staff is really helpful.

This store can be hit or miss in their customer service department. I have been here many times in…read morethe past and never really got a warm greeting from anyone in the store. Sad but true. As those of us are familiar with arts & crafts, then we should know what to expect and what to buy. They have many selections of many things in their inventory. Prices change/varies every now and then; but, do have affordable discounted prices on a lot of their stuff. For instance I got 2 frames today for a great deal. One frame 9X12 & the the other one 16X20 & 8X10. The 1st one was $12.99 & the big one was $19.99. W/out tax. I needed some beads for decorative reasons and couldn't find any that I liked. In color and in style. During their Holiday Seasons they are fully stocked and all aisles are bursting with cheerful, happy colors, flowers, brands and more.. if you are not quick to grab what you need, it will be too late. Overall, not a bad experience, but they can for sure step up to the plate and help out their customers when we need help. I have had 2 pictures framed at their framing department in the past; and, they did an excellent job. So thank you for that! Clean store, restrooms in the far back, also clean, and plenty of parking spaces shared with number of businesses. Located on the 2nd level right above Marshalls. Take the elevator or the escalator up/down. What goes up, must come down!:-)

Very disappointing experience. I placed my canvas order only yesterday afternoon , and by this…read moremorning it was already "finished." When I saw the work, I was shocked by how sloppy, rushed, and low quality it looked. This was not professional work and not something any business should hand to a customer. I explained that I was unhappy with the quality and asked for my money back because I could not use this canvas for my client. Instead of trying to fix the problem, they refused and kept saying, "This is how we do it," and that they already spent time, labor, and materials on it. They acted like there was nothing wrong with the work at all. What made the experience even worse was the attitude and disrespect. Instead of helping or apologizing, I was told to leave the store. I also took photos of the canvas so people can judge the quality for themselves. I would not recommend this place if you expect professionalism, quality workmanship, or respectful customer service.

Carter Sexton Artist Materials is located in Los Angeles' San Fernando Valley within the Valley Village/Studio City area and resides on Laurel Canyon Boulevard/just a beat down from Chandler Blvd and the Laurel Canyon Metro Station for the Orange (aka G) line. It's got lots of fun nooks and crannies with great materials, supplies, service and sales (including 40% off, clearance items and more). It was easy for me to follow a lot of their played out pricing for canvas (10 years in retail, though it's been almost 10 years since I walked away from it and yet still retain so much lol). I ventured into the "Come (On) In" area and discovered some complimentary artist guides, incredible artwork and extra items I was seeking for a sketching event I hosted over the weekend. Love coming in on Saturdays, though it's been several months since I was last in, hoping to change that, check out more of their events, including some great some shows this holiday season like their Medley. I don't have much to submit by their deadline, but highly recommend you do if you're an artist, aspiring artist or creative. They definitely are neighborhood feel with some cool regulars. Caught some warming interactions and references to Cheers (the 80s to early 90s series) between the staff and a really nice returning customer. I'm not sure if Kelli was there when I stopped in, but I've had some greatest response with her in the past online when inquire about things. Everyone is super knowledgeable, mindful and respectful. Ready to assist, but also let you take your time exploring and feeling out all they have to offer. Street parking primarily with a 1hour limit from 8am to 6pm. Some limited spaces in their back alley parking, that I'm sure is super great for their staff/ the Carter Sexton family. Its first come first serve, but you might get lucky. Open from 10am to 6pm Monday through Saturday weekly with some variations for holidays. A must whether a local, passing through or seeking out a small biz to support that does great things for the area, and showcasing a spotlights artists of all walks of lives and ages. Even Bob Ross on display wants you to check out this great supportive Art spot. "We don't make mistakes, just happy little accidents."

It was in the early afternoon. I rang the doorbell and the woman working buzzed the door open but I didn't catch the handle in time. After attempting again to get in to the store by ringing again and pulling the door but she walked to the back and never came back. I waited a few minutes and then left. I found it rude and am so disappointed. I have spent money at this store in the past because they have a nice selection. I did not expect to be treated as though I was not welcome. We made eye contact so it's not as though she didn't see me or hear the bell ring. I came here in lieu of going to my normal wholesaler because I felt it would be good to support a smaller business. I regret that choice.

After numerous scarfs and blankets it was time to reach out to a store where i could purchase my supplies, but also get support as I take on more challenging projects. Vanessa was kind enough to help me pick out a hat pattern online and she suggested yarns in the store that would be easier for my first hat. After purchasing my materials, she suggested that i sit down and start my project. One of the kind ladies working on their projects not only helped me start my project, but she put in a lifeline (learned something new). I sat and chatted with the group as I worked on my project. I choose this store even though it is further away from my home because it is open W-F until 7 pm so I can go over after work for help. They are open on the weekend. And lastly, as I expected there is a community of knitters willing to help. I'm overjoyed to have found a place to learn and challenge myself after working solo for so long. Lastly, the yarns in the shop are beautiful and I found the prices in line for the quality. I'm willing to pay a bit more for quality and for support. Vanessa has created more than a store, she has created a community. I will be back very soon to work on the next stage of my hat.

The colors are beautiful and there are plenty of weights to choose from. Many of the yarns come with variegated colors, but I opted for a straightforward uniform color as I'm learning how to knit. The person behind the counter was super helpful, too. She got me set up with the right knitting needles and helped me pick out a rich, earthy orange to work with. My understanding is that the shop offers lessons for folks looking to learn as well. So it's a one-stop shop for folks who might like to pick up a new hobby and learn how to implement it all in one.
