My first trip to Quilt Country was a total success! I was immediately impressed with how the store is laid out. I went with a friend who is an experienced quilter. She not only pointed out the different fabric selections but some very highly rated fabric brands. They have an impressive selection of tools and patterns related to quilting. They don't carry traditional apparel fabric or a range of fabrics like jersey and fleece, their focus is strictly quilting as the name says. I found staff to be kind and helpful and really enjoyed my first visit. I look forward to getting more stamps on my card! read more

I visit this store probably two to three times a year. They have fantastic fabric and the staff has always been friendly even if I don't really stop to talk. For me, I like to spend a little less on fabric but they have wonderful sales and I have purchased fabric lines that were sold out elsewhere (ex: Kaffe). Most of the fabric here is $11 to $12 a yard as mentioned by someone else. As for the Longarm comment, I go here to rent time on a Longarm. I would highly question anyone's service at a penny per sq foot. The going rate is 2... I choose to rent though because I enjoy doing it myself. For that portion, search APQS Texas as they are two separate companies sharing the same building. I don't think of myself as an expert by any means. I've been quilting about five years (also how long I've been sewing) and learned how to Longarm about 2 years ago. read more

Had to come up to Dallas from Austin and decided to do a quick quilt shop hop since there are so many more out here than Austin. This was my first shop on my list and it will probably be my last because this store has it ALL! I have been obsessed with Bargello quilts lately. To my wonderful surprise, they had every bargello pattern book in stocks! And their Batik selection! Wow! The variety and ease of choosing 10 blues, 6 pinks and 7 purple batiks in one store was AWESOME! The fabrics, the pre-cut selection, there was nothing this store didn't seem to have! I have to go back before I leave Dallas, but with everything this shop offers, I may just start making the three hour drive each way one a month to supply my stash! I dont know what other fabulous things I can say, other than I am truly impressed and can't wait to blow another weeks pay there when I go back! read more

She needed shades of purples, blues, green, grays, and white. They had a huge section arranged this way. She has so much fun picking her colors. I walked in and my jaw literally dropped. Such a wide selection of fabrics! So many beautiful fabrics to pick from. And, even better, the sale section was one of the best I've seen. I was approached a few times to see if I needed anything but not in an overbearing, annoying way. Michelle helped me once I made my selections and when I told her I was new to quilting she was extremely helpful. So nice. So I know that I am an unlikely candidate to be rating quilt store, but I enjoy taking my wife around to visit quilt stores and shops so I have visited many of them in my time and have become quite involved in picking out fabrics. We recently moved into the area and decided to do a little quilt shop hopping and made this one of our first stops. We were very excited to find such a fine store so quickly. Quilt Country is a "warehouse" of great fabric and patterns. I only use the work warehouse to describe the quantity of the selection. The store is wonderfully designed, clean and well organized. There are so many fabric choices, I spent more than an hour just walking the bolts and being amazed by the options. As any many quilt stores, there are some great examples on the walls and the patterns are available if you see one that you like. There are a large number of kits available as well for your selection. The store is well staffed and you can get assistance in a heartbeat. Everyone I have ever worked with has been extremely friendly and helpful. Quilt Country also offers classes and has long arm machines that you can rent to finish those quilt tops that you have pieced together. I enjoy visiting Quilt Country and think that you will too. read more

I am fairly new to quilting and found this shop while trying to find better quality fabrics. It is fabulous! They have the best selection of high quality fabrics arranged beautifully. The staff is the best. They have taken time with me to help find fabrics, consult on what to do about a fading problem, and even help calculate the amounts I would need for a specific quilt. As I said, I am learning quilting as I go and have been sadly disappointed after spending a great deal of time on a quilt, only to have the fabric fade badly. They explained to me about the difference in quality of material from stores like JoAnn's and their store. I recently made a quilt using their black fabric that I didn't prewash, and it has never faded. It's a little far from my home, but is definitely worth the trip. read more

I went back to this Quilt shop in Lewisville TX because of the verity of fabric and the staff is always willing to answer questions. I am from Colorado, and yes we do have quilt stores here, but they don't display the fabric in the same manner, nor have I found one the verity of fabric that this store in Lewisville has. My daughter and husband were with my this time and even they were surprised. They even got involved in helping me match up the fabric's that I needed and if we couldn't find what we were looking for the staff new just where to find it. I will be back! read more

I really enjoyed this shop. The store was brightly lit, well organized, and had such beautiful quilts all over the place. The selection is pretty large compared to most quilt shops I've visited, though probably not the biggest I've seen yet. What I particularly like about it (which slightly annoyed me at first) was that the fabrics are all grouped by color rather than manufacturer/collection like all the other quilt shops I've been to. On the one hand, when I found a great print I liked and wanted to find a coordinating fabric, I had to search through all the aisles to find something in the same collection. However, in my search, I wound up finding a couple of other fabrics from other manufacturers that worked better than if I had stuck only to what was in the same collection. So it forced me to stop being lazy with my fabric choices and I think I like it a lot better that way. I really can't emphasize enough how friendly the staff were, though. I've been to a few places where I was treated more as an annoyance by the employees, but not here. The employees seemed happy and took the time to chit chat with me a bit and made me feel valued as a customer. They even have a frequent shopper card. So while this place is kind of far out of my way, I'll definitely be back. It's worth the drive. read more

My husband and I went into the shop recently. Apparently we didn't appear to be in the correct tax or age bracket because no one asked if they could be of assistance. When my husband approached the desk inquiring for me, he was qiven the quick answer of "no, we don't have that". They were not busy, no other patrons standing there. The two women were actually discussing having windows installed. So we left and got into my brand new car and took our business elsewhwhere. The shop is absolutely beautiful. Well set out, and color coordinated. A large selection of batiks. It brough an immediate smile to my face, I almost giggled with excitement. Too bad the service was such a dissapointment. read more

There is a huge selection of fabric, BUT it's much more expensive than other shops in the metroplex. Their long arm quilters charge 2 cents a square inch but a couple of other stores in the area charge a penny. I didn't like the way they treated new quilters- it was very much a clique-like atmosphere. The particular staff member I conversed with was extremely condescending to me. I was in the process of making my first quilt and she essentially said that "I would never be proud of it because it would turn out saggy and lopsided. " One: I would be proud regardless because I made it and put my time and effort into it. Two: I got a second opinion and the quilt turned out beautifully from the penny long arm specialist I mentioned before. The fabric selection is five star quality, price is 3 stars, and service was one start. Even though I have to drive half an hour longer to reach another store, it is a drive I would happily make. read more
