I absolutely love this quilt shop. It's clean, spacious, and colorful! You'll never walk in here and not be greeted with the biggest smile. Beth and Ann are so sweet and always willing to help you! They have everything you need in this store from machines, to fabric, to accessories. If you buy a machine here, you can even become a sweet time quilting member and get 10% for the rest of the year. After reading other reviews about the staff not interested in talking with customers if they weren't interested in purchasing a machine, I was hesitant to stop by. But a friend was surprised to hear that and highly recommended the shop. Yes, they do have a large space for their machines, but as a fabric shop, I was amazed. They had a big selection of high quality fabrics. I was even able to locate a specific batik fabric we needed for a big project! The other poster must have come in on a bad day for a staff member. Everyone that works here is very helpful. Great supply of fabric and thread. Many classes to pick from. They sell Brother and Babylock sewing, quilting and embroidery machines. The owner, Beth, is the best. She does a live Facebook every night on some topic. They have a service department onsite which is extremely helpful. Love coming here. read more

This is a very interesting shop - but more of a sewing machine distributor - their main business seems to be selling machines and providing support. Their "stash" of fabrics is minimal . The people were very nice, but I really was looking for fabric choices other than what my local stores carry. read more

The staff is kind, patient and knowledgeable. I have options to shop for fabric close to my home but prefer to drive over 30 minutes because I get great customer service. This is an open letter to Allan Reid of Quilts and Lace in Melboune, FL. On Saturday, September 3, 2016, I called your shop as my daughter and I were experiencing some difficulty with my Brother Scan n Cut machine. I had been dealing with Brother Customer Service and based on their findings, I believed the machine to be faulty. Your wife answered and said if we got in the car now, we would have time to arrive before the shop closed. (As a side note, we have absolutely no issue with your wife, she is a very gracious, classy lady. ) My daughter and I barely had an opportunity to get the machine in the car and leave; however, we made it before the shop closed. When we walked in you greeted us, asked how we were and I answered , "frustrated, but your wife said she could help us." You took the machine from my daughter and then said, "This is black! Where did you buy it?" I said I bought it online some time back and then tried to explain the problem. I was interrupted by you saying, "I have no sympathy for you. People like you buy machines online or somewhere besides here and then come in and expect us to help you." Understand we did not come there for your sympathy. We came there as you are advertised as an authorized Brother dealer. To me that means you are trained/qualified to work on Brother machines and I am pretty sure in Brother International's definition, an authorized dealer is one that is trained/authorized to work on Brother products no matter where the machine is purchased. As far a asking for help: it never entered my mind we would be getting free help. We came in prepared to pay for your wife's consultation as well as your time if the machine could be fixed. We found ourselves explaining my health is why I purchased online, but then stopped. Where the machine is purchased should have nothing to do with it; I do not have to explain myself as to where/why I purchased the machine to have it repaired. It is clear to me in your case, "authorized Brother dealer" means only if the machine is purchased at Quilts and Lace. You might very well have repaired the machine, but not without the rude, inappropriate tongue lashing we received from you. As for the tears you witnessed, do not think for one moment those were due to you "hurting my feelings" or because you created a scene in front of your wife and the customers in the shop. Those were tears of anger - when I get extremely angry, I cry which, in turn, makes me even angrier. I chose not to engage in an unpleasant conversation with you in front of your wife or customers. It was determined by your wife the machine could not be repaired. We paid her and left. This open letter is to let you know my daughter and I will not be subjected to this kind of behavior from anyone, but especially someone who professes to be in a business of dealing with the public. You will not get that opportunity again. read more

My husband and I stopped in the other day to check out this store. I found the store through Yelp (which I love). I read the reviews and they are very accurate. Allan, one of the owners, talked with my husband while I was looking around. I did buy some things, and Allan was very helpful. Their customer service is excellent. I am a quilter, and even though they don't have hundreds of bolts of fabric, what they have is very good. Naturally, I did some some fabric, and a pattern, and a template. Their main business I believe, are the sewing machines, long arms and sergers, plus all the classes they give. If I lived in this area, I would definitely be taking classes. They were great, and I will stop in there every time I come to visit my brother. read more

I was looking for a sewing machine for my daughter for Christmas. She lives in Minneapolis, so while she was here, we were actually just scouting out what machine would suit her needs. We planned on her actually buying it up there because she did not trust it with the airline, and we weren't sure how to ship it safely. Her friend had a Viking Emerald that she liked and she was set on that but I told her we needed to look at other brands. We found this shop, and are so happy we did. They had several Bablylock floor modesl on sale for an unbelievable price, and Allan was so helpful. He set my daughter up at the one she liked, gave her some quick instructions, and let her fly. Then when she asked to try another machine, he said "Well,fire her up!". When we said we were going to think about it and look at other Vikings, he told us the important things to look for in a machine. The other customers in there were buying very high end machines, and he called them by their first names, so we knew it was a shop with happy, repeat customers. One lady even gave us some advice on shipping options. My daughter LOVED the floor model machine, and we got as far as the parking lot, looked at each other and went back in and bought it. They offer free classes, and she was able to fit in 3 of them before she leaves, and can take 2 more when she comes home for the summer. They also have a great selection of notions and threads. I know when my old Singer dies, I will be up there for my next machine! I am so happy I found this shop. read more

I did not have the same experience as the other reviewers . I bought a lower priced Brother sewing machine that broke and I was sent to Quilts and Lace by Brother company as it was under warranty which should have covered parts and labor etc. The store owner from the time I got there until I left laughed and said I had a Throw away Brother machine and said do yourself a favor and look around my store and see what a REAL sewing machine looks like . He was going to charge me $85 a hour to fix it whether that was suppose to be a joke I'm not sure I don't drive do to my health and he told me who ever I bought with me to not bring her into his store again and that he had sewing machines that were worth more then her tattoos what the heck did that have anything to do with honoring brother and fixing my machine ?All she was doing was looking out for me and she ? him a few times if he could at least give us a rough idea HOW MUCH IT WOULD COST AND HE LOSES IT On numerous times he remarked about my cheap machine . I cant work due to health issues and have just really started sewing in the last year so I didn't want to buy a expensive machine . He deals in Brothers sells Brother yet cut mine down because I bought it at Walmart . The man was one of the strangest I have ever dealt with he on 2 occasions offered me a loaner after making a remark about mine Why would I bother with your loaned when you've been so harsh I wouldn't buy a hot dog from this guy guess my hair wasn't permed just right and I didn't have manicured nails like his other clients I was just a waste of his time is how I felt .
