About two months ago, I stumbled upon this store in the Short North. Quinci Emporium really caught my interest. The owner has curated really high quality products for the kitchen, dining, and home entertaining. They also sell specialty food products. There are beautiful salad servers, gold cocktail pitchers, wood muddlers, milk glass tumblers, and many other beautiful items inside. Since this is a small business, I'd expect prices to be higher compared to chains like Crate & Barrel, Williams Sonoma, etc. Prices are pretty fair, however, and some items are actually priced lower than where I've seen similar products. There is a small kitchen in the back, and I was told by the owner that she was going to start having cooking classes. Looking at the website, it looks like that's finally taken shape and there are a few classes up for February. At $65 a piece, this is comparable (and even cheaper) in price to other cooking classes in the area. The Italian owner really seems to have a passion for cooking and bringing people together to eat and learn. Fairly new to the block, I really hope this business succeeds. They sell some items on their website and even do registries. Check them out online or when you're in the area. This is a great place to find a hostess gift or something new for your home!

Molto Buono! I can't believe I didn't know this place existed and I'll be back to eat & perhaps take class to brush up on my pasta skills. They have unfiltered olio di olive, brava bella, summer truffles (a special) and a proper sized slice of parmigiano reggiano! I'll be back! Grazie!

It definitely broke up the usual Columbus activities. We did paella night and it was a blast. They are BYOB so you can bring drinks/wine and they have all the glassware and openers needed! The staff were so kind and knowledgeable and easy to work with. The food was delicious. We had an array of tapas, salad, main course, and dessert! We were there for about 3 hours. The building itself and their garden is stunning. Go!!

Baking macarons is a tricky thing and Damaris did such a good job breaking down all the steps. She gave us lots of tips and tricks for our home baking, and you can see her passion for what she does. That said, I have been to several of the cooking schools in Columbus and this was my least favorite overall attendee experience. It was more expensive, yet very "basic" for lack of a better word. All of the cooking classes I have attended come with some kind of amenities - a welcome cocktail, wine bar, cheese and crackers, hot coffee/tea, etc. Something. This class was three hours long and there was nothing offered but water and iced tea (on a 20 degree day). We also did not receive any kind of information prior to the class, so parking was like solving a mystery (hint: the parking lot is behind the house down a side alleyway)

Unfortunately, you're…read moreunable to enjoy your meal there so instead they instruct you on how to reheat or finish what ever you've made at home. I took the class by myself and had enough food to make a meal for 4 and have left overs. Everything was measured out for us when we go there. Only thing I really had to do to prep was chop the veggies. The teacher was informative. I think this class was really great for people who maybe don't have a lot of experience cooking. Or good for someone who cooks a lot but maybe wants to try and master a recipe. I've made pasta before but it didn't come out near as good as when I made it here. It gave me the opportunity to try out a pasta rolling machine with out having to buy one. Definitely worth buying one by the way if you're wondering. With our pasta we made a flavorful Bolognese sauce and a side salad. The teacher packaged up all of our stuff for us once we were done and sadly my vinaigrette didn't make it into the bag and I didn't notice until I was getting ready to set the table. I luckily had most of the ingredients at home or some variation of the sort so I whipped up a new batch but was not as good as the original. So highly suggest you check your bag to make sure it's all there. Also, you do get a 10% discount that you can use the day of class in store. Aprons were provided. I suggest wearing comfy shoes since you'll be standing for approx 2 hours give or take some time.

A "date" can be almost anything. So, don't feel like you have to have a special date, but it is a great way to spend the evening together, learn something new and share in a meal. You can bring your own bottle of wine along, if you wish. The cooking class lasted two and a half hours. The chef leading the event was quite knowledgeable, kept us on time, checked-in with each team regularly answering questions and sharing suggestions, while sharing personal stories to make the event interesting. It was fun! Met some new folks and swapped travel stories. Class size tonight was 13 people. Learned about some of the different kitchen tools as well as techniques. (I can poach an egg now!) They provide copies of the recipes so you can make the meal again later. The staff here at Sur La Table were wonderful. Made us feel right at home! You do get a 10% off discount for purchasing any merchandise in the store after the class. Plus, they will give you a $10 discount for each individual, if you sign up for another class that day. I signed up for another class as there are so many more fun classes to choose from. It's a great way to get out of the house and spend time with friends, family or a special some one.
