My experience at Hotel Suites Quinta Magna was extremely disappointing and frustrating.
I arrived at the hotel to check in, only to be told that there was no reservation under my name. When I pulled up my reservation confirmation, I noticed that it had been changed to "canceled." While standing at the front desk, I checked my email and found a cancellation email that had been sent the previous day, which I had not seen before arriving.
The employee at the front desk claimed that the hotel had attempted to contact me and that I never responded. However, this was not true. I explained that I had spoken with someone from the hotel previously. During our conversation, the only question I was asked was whether I would personally be the one checking in, and I confirmed that I would be since I was the person who made the reservation.
As the discussion continued, the front desk employee mentioned that he believed he knew who I had spoken with and even told his coworkers that he had an idea which employee may have made a mistake. Despite acknowledging that there may have been an error on the hotel's side, he repeatedly told me there was nothing he could do because there were no rooms available.
I then showed him proof on my phone of the calls I had made to the hotel. Even after providing evidence that I had communicated with the hotel as requested, I was still left without a room and without any meaningful assistance or solution.
The entire situation left me feeling that my reservation was canceled without proper justification and that the hotel made no effort to honor the booking or take responsibility for what appeared to be an internal mistake. It is difficult not to wonder whether reservations made at lower rates are being canceled when the hotel believes it can rebook the room at a higher price.
I would strongly caution future guests to monitor their reservations closely and confirm them repeatedly before arrival. No traveler should arrive at a hotel with a confirmed reservation only to be told that it has been canceled and that they are simply out of luck.
