I have tried at least a half dozen times in the past 4 months to update my insurance info in the customer portal and it is never updated. I've called at least that many times to talk with a representative over the phone to change it and never get an answer, just voice mail. I leave my info and never get a call back. NOT GOOD! The couple employees I spoke to seemed nice enough....once you got them on the phone. But getting someone on the phone or to return your call in a timely manner was not an easy task. The overall execution and follow through left a lot to be desired. It seems they need better systems in place. I may not end up getting my necessary post op equipment by surgery time....an order process that was started on Monday and still not completed on Friday. Learn from my mistake and vet your DME before signing up with them. I've been calling in for different concerns since 08/2025 and being told someone will call me back. No one calls back. Outreach attempts for this latest issue began on 10/06. I get no one calls. Finally one day I get a voicemail and email from Brittany H. I'm thinking I am finally going to close this out. The call and email was a request to confirm details in order to schedule a pickup of my equipment. 3 same day return call attempts (1st attempt 1min after voicemail), multiple outreach attempts in the following days and 2 emails replies, still no answer as of today. I was sent to Medical West by my cardiologist and endocrinologist. After not being able to find the prescription information, I was told that since I have Medicare Advantage, they wanted me to know that they didn't take Medicare and that I'd have to pay cash. I said, okay, and they measured me for compression stockings. They said there were two kinds, expensive and really expensive. The problem is that they needed to sell me two pairs to fit my legs. My left leg is larger than my right leg, because of swelling, so it would cost me over $120 to get a pair. Or they could order the less expensive pair but it would take a long delivery time. I said, no, and asked for my measurements. They refused to give me my own medical data. I will not do business with them. They are a ripoff. read more

Every month when ordering new C-pap supplies, I ask to speak to billing, to pay anything that may be due. The only time I ever receive a bill, is when it comes from a collection agency. Month after month, I sit on the phone for hours trying to straighten up their billing issues. just today, after paying $334 last month, I received 2 collection notices from 2 collection agencies. One from Medical West, and one from Lincare. They are the same company. I would rather pay completely out of pocket to a different DME company, than to deal with Medical West/ Lincare ever again! read more

I'm visiting St. Louis and was having trouble with urostomy bags leaking. They were a new kind for me but were lasting less than 8 hours, sometimes as little as 3 hours. I needed something else and called Medical West. The staff were knowledgeable and helpful and found 3 different kinds that might work. I chose the one that seemed most likely to work. The staff were wonderful and pleasant and I was panicked. They put my mind at ease and also have an ostomy nurse on staff. It looks as though they have a wide range of inventory of all kinds of durable medical equipment. I wish there were a place like this in Columbus. read more

Getting CPAP supplies is next to impossible. My order was placed in September. I call weekly and each week it's a different reason for the delay in my order. My order has been lost, systems have been changed, they didn't have my insurance information when I've been a customer for 3 years, my information was entered incorrectly due to poor training of employees. The only way to check on an order is to call. When getting fitted for the CPAP mask they have you sit in a chair. If you sleep in a chair this is great but most sleep lying down. So it took multiple visits to get a mask that fit while lying down. If you can get your supplies elsewhere, please do so. read more

John clearly explained different equipment to assist with bathing and toilet use, as well as for getting out of bed. Everything we bought worked out just as he had said. I have been purchasing my supplies for incontinance from Midwest Medical for 8 years. The service has gotten worse in the last 2 years. I use to have next day delivery but now I have to argue to convince them I do have next day delivery. It takes 3-5 days for my supplies to arrive and I'm tired of doing business with a bunch of rude, crude and uncaring bunch of people. They used to fill my orders in a timely fashion. I ordered CPAP supplies at the end of August, and I've still received nothing. The latest story is that they need the SD card from my machine. The last time they needed that (a year ago?), they sent a cardboard mailer and I sent them the card. It worked smoothly and easily. I honestly have not dealt with a worse business. No joke, a lot of people say that as an exaggeration, I mean it 100%. They are still charging me rent on the CPAP machine they misrepresented my insurance coverage to sell, saying "it was covered, so why not get a new one". When I started getting rental fees for it, they said that the insurance company weasels out of paying by covering it as a monthly fee until it is paid for so in January, I was on the hook for it when my deductible reset. I was told that the payments would go through July. I made what I thought was my last payment in August, relieved that this would be the last time I would be filled with hatred while making this payment. What did I get today? ANOTHER RENTAL FEE AND A BILL FOR SUPPLIES I ALREADY PAID FOR!!!!!!!!! I don't see how a company can mess this up so bad unless they are trying. I even opted NOT to have them deliver supplies on a schedule for the sole reason that I didn't trust them after the way they lied about the machine. Now, I go and pick up supplies, pay for them there and get a bill for the equipment I paid for in person!!!! I honestly don't understand. The funny/sad thing is that the same woman that I spoke to on the phone when I complained about the misrepresentation of the machine coverage, emailed me 5 months after my first review asking what they could do for me. I am assuming the goal was to get me to remove it. What you could have done was listened the first time and even acted like you gave a hint of a D. This machine could have been purchased outright for the money they have taken for it, I can't tell you how crooked this is. Why is our healthcare system out of whack? Companies like this may not be the main cause, but they play a large role for sure. When they open up tomorrow, my relationship with them will be over. My advice to anyone who does business with this criminal organization is to make a record of calls, read everything they give you no mater how long it takes (record the face to face conversations) because they will misrepresent your coverage to sell their price inflated equipment and by all means, save all of your receipts. Next time I come across my paperwork, I will take a picture and post the one sentence in my paperwork that they used to say that I was aware of the possible charges to come. When the person in front of you tells you that your deductible is met, the machine is covered, so why not get a new one, what impression does that give you? I even told them my old one works just fine to which they lied and said that it was old and they couldn't set it up even though Lincare did it just months earlier. Update 11/12/15 Called today to resolve billing issues, was told the computer was locked up, that it was too late in the day and that they would have to call me tomorrow. I had an appointment today for a replacement CPAP Machine. I had an appointment but arrived early and was almost taken in immediately. The CPAP Technician was extremely helpful, knowledgeable and friendly, walking me thru every aspect of the new machine. She then worked with me on a new type of mask I wanted to start using. We tried the mask for several minutes to make sure it was what I wanted and that it fit good. Compared to previous providers I've used over the years, Med-West is head and sholders over their competition. I would highly recommend them to friends and family. read more

Terrible customer service. My insurance will pay 100% for replacement supplies for my CPAP which are supposed to be automatically sent out. I never get them unless I call repeatedly asking where they are. When I call, I almost always get voicemail, leave my message and phone number and NEVER get a call back. The few times I have actually gotten a person, I was told that A) they didn't send the supplies because they didn't have a doctor's order (not true - the orders were sent out with the initial CPAP order), B) they cancelled the order because I never returned their phone calls (if they called me, they never left a message and block their caller ID), C) can't send out the supplies because I haven't made payment arrangements (SEE ABOVE). In other words, they are just making up excuses for their own incompentance. IF you can use a different medical supplier, I suggest you do so. read more

I needed a back brace and Dave was extremely helpful. He didn't bother me with daily updates on the insurance approval process-and I appreciated that. When he needed my help to expedite insurer response, I complied. After finally getting approval, I was fitted for the brace that will work for my body structure. I used medical west until I had my transplant a year ago. Just recently, I got a bill from a collection agency saying I owed medical west $200.00. I never got any bills in the mail from them. Now I'm turned over for collection? Their billing is so screwed up. Watch out and pay close attention to your account! I have told everyone I know to go with another company. I recently had the need to visit Medical West to get an upgraded walker for my Mom. Katie D was awesome-patient with all my Mom's questions and concerns and well versed in fitting medical equipment. Katie was very patient focused as shown by her courtesy, friendliness, and level of concern. A few weeks later, I went back to get a cane and other supplies after a total right knee replacement. Dan S also gave awesome service and patient care. Finally, when there were issues with insurance coverage, Hailey did some great leg work and figured out how to address some timing and communication issues so that the coverage I deserved was properly accessed. I highly recommend this store! My husband injured his ankle and was unable to walk for a period of time after surgery. We needed to rent equipment for him to get around and had no idea what to get. The staff were very knowledgeable about the types of equipment available for the injury and helped us through every step of the way to make sure we had what we needed and understood how to use the equipment. What a nightmare company with which to acquire medical equipment!!! On June 16, 2017, I gave Marty a script for a walker with a seat and brakes and he was told my height: 4 ft. 10 in.. On Tuesday, June 20, I received a call that I could come down to the Brentwood location and pick up my walker and choose which color I wanted since my insurance had agreed to pay for it. When I went to pick up the walker, Andy C told me I had only one choice and my only choice was for a color. When I tried to sit on the walker seat my feet dangled and would not touch the floor. Andy said that did not matter since I would be walking not sitting. I asked about a walker where I could touch the floor but he said I would have to pay for it myself since my insurance would not cover it. I gave up and brought it home where my daughter saw how it did not fit me. She got on the Medicare sight to see which walkers were covered at Medical West and she found a list of five NOT JUST ONE that Andy told me. On that list was a Drive Junior Dual Button Walker with 5 inch wheels that is designed for patients under five feet tall with and adjustable seat height. After calling them, Andy acquired that one from their warehouse just five minutes away. He and the store manager Terry said the seat was NOT adjustable. Both were too lazy to acquaint themselves with the equipment. At that point, I gave up and called Medicare fraud line. I was told that I would not be able to file a claim until Medical West filed for payment which is where I stand at this point. I used the walker that they fraudulently sold me because I needed it to stand in line for a long time at a reception and I am just thankful that I did not develop a blood clot in my leg from dangling I believe I will buy the model that fits me on Amazon for $78.00 and make my goal to alert Medicare to scrutinize all claims from Medical West and warn other elderly people to avoid going there. Your welfare is in peril if you do so. read more

My doctor apologized for them and said they are slightly better than the other companies out there. Have no clue who to talk to there or how to get support for cpak machine. I went to Medical West for CPAP supplies, and received an EOB stating I did not owe any money from my insurance company. I received a Bill from Medical West so I called on February 11 and told the person I had an EOB stating I did not owe anything, they said they would call back. They never did. I left a message on 2/26 for the biller, I never heard anything. I left a message on 3/2 for billing manager Linda, I never heard anything. On 3/4 I left a message on Ken Sandler's voice mail I was told he was the owner, I never heard anything. I left another message for the owner on 3/16, then I called back and spoke to a biller and told her I had an EOB stating I did not owe anything, she agreed with me. Finally the owner had someone else call me back on 3/17. I recommend finding a DME provider that provides better customer service, doesn't fraudulently bill and the owner is not scared to call a customer back. I wish yelp had Zero stare ratings. read more

Absolutely horrible company to do business with! I got a CPAP machine that was rented monthly for one year through Blue Cross Blue Shield, at which time I then owned the machine. After the contract was signed, they started adding additional charges. When I requested an itemized statement on 3/28/18, they told me it would be up to 5 days OR longer. On 4/12/18, I called again with my request. First person told me same story. Second person told me company had been sold and it was impossible to receive a statement, that I should just pay my balance without question/verification. I called on 5/23/18 to try to verify charges with an e-mailed, mailed or website view. I was told that was impossible and that they had added nearly $20 for late fees on a $135 balance that they would not disclose (other than verbally) how the balance was obtained. Most people were nice to deal with, but definitely a shady operation!!! read more

This has been a horrible customer service experience for me. I went in to order support socks that were prescibed for me by my doctor back on 5/12/2016. This being the first time I have ever had to purchase or wear something of this nature I wanted to make sure that I was measured and fitted correctly. My first visit went well I thought, the gentleman measured my legs, explained the different choices that were available and processed my order. After waiting 9 business days I finally got a phone call that the socks were in and that I had to make an appointment to come in to try them on. Not a big deal, right. The stores close at 5:30 and my work was a distance from the south county store so I asked for the last appointment they had to not impact my work too much. The lady told me she leaves at 4:30 so I had to be there at 4 for a fitting. Not a great response to give your customer, who pays your bills by the way, but I agreed to that, and had to take PTO to cover the time I was missing from work. When I get there the socks are too short and do not fit correctly. I was bummed. I mean I need the socks to help with pain and swelling in my legs, and at this point it has alredy been 11 days since I ordered them. But she remeasured me, ordered the longer pair of socks and said that it would be another week for them to come in. 10 days later I called the store to follow up and see if the socks were in, and was told they were there. Great, I will stop in and pick them up as they offered to ship them to my house, I figured they would be correct and ready to go. I was wrong, they ordered the incorrect ones AGAIN. I decided to go to the brentwood store as that is the headquarters, and it was close enough to my work that I could skip lunch and run down there to try and get resolution to this issue. The people were kind and thorough, but never showed empathy to the delays and issues this is causing me. I know have to wait another 7 - 10 days for these socks to show up, and by the time I finally get these it will be 6 weeks to get a pair of socks. I was never once asked if I would like the shipment expedited for all the wasted time this has taken. I know a lot of the things they sell are covered under insurance and people are probably more forgiving for this low level of service, but when a customer is paying out of pocket, and has already paid them the money, the goal should be to get the order filled quickly and accurately. It would even be great to show the customer that you actually care about them, and the impact your errors have had on them, and would it kill you to follow up with the customer? I mean when a customer calls and leaves a voice mail on your answering machine, asking you to call them back in the morning with a phone number of where to reach them, guess what, they want you the business to contact them, Quickly. rant over, as soon as I get what I paid for I will never step foot inside any of these establishments again. read more
