How in the world does this place have more than a 2? The banh mi, was quite possibly the worst thing I've eaten in a while.. The bread was hard and stale. The meat was heated up in a microwave. The vegetables were dry and sour. And the whole sandwich itself tasted like something was rotten. Had to spit it out because I was scared I'd get food poisoning. I didn't try anything else in there, but going off bahn me alone, do not get it. Sorry but no 2nd visit from me.

I never knew Quoc Bao Bakery has good sweets until today. In the past, I've came to Quoc Bao Bakery for the Vietnamese baguettes and on occasions egg rolls, which one should because Quoc Bao Bakery is known for their Vietnamese baguettes. This small bakery on 24th and Classen is solely operated by the owner, Mr. Bao, himself. And let me tell you, it is a HARD job. Unlike Lee's or other bigger bakeries, the ventilation system at Quoc Bao Bakery is non-existent, meaning Mr. Bao has to endure the heat of an OVEN year round. I've forgotten how HOT it is inside until coming back today. He is a hard working man and deserved much more. With Mochinut across the street, Quoc Bao Bakery does not offer much varieties of donuts anymore. There was just one type when I came in, blueberry. The donuts and muffins are delicious at Quoc Bao Bakery, better than one would've expected at a Vietnamese baguette shop. In terms of the Vietnamese baguettes, I have to give an edge to Lee's Sandwiches for having better quality overall. What I love the most about Quoc Bao Bakery is the bread, much softer than Lee's. I feel like the quality of the ingredients inside the baguettes is not as good as Lee's. Quoc Bao Bakery does offer buy 3 get 1 free which is a great deal. Having stated the above, one has to wonder why I am giving Quoc Bao Bakery a 5 stars? I feel like besides the criteria of food critics, there should also be humans compassion and understanding. Giving the limited resources to work with, Mr. Bao has done more than an excellent job to provide his customers the best products he could have made, through sheer hard work and will power. I truly feel there is a place for Quoc Bao Bakery in Asian District even with Lee's Sandwiches being not far away. Please support Quoc Bao Bakery.

The banh mi was an amazing deal and filled with meats and fresh veggies, but the real winner for me was the jalapeño sausage roll! It doesn't look like much, but it's the perfect balance of sweet lightness of the bread and savory satiating sausage with a little kick. The bread was warm and chewy yet not too dense and wow I need another (or 5) this week

The man that served me was very very nice, quick and attentive. The food, which I took to go, was delicious. The jalapeño sausage roll had a really good flavor, the breading was nice and it wasn't greasy! (Win) The blueberry cake donut was absolutely delightful, nice blueberry flavor with the crunch of the subtly sweet glaze on top. I recommend this place for a quick little treat at a very reasonable price!

Grilled pork Bahn Mi was not good

Hubby and I stopped by this Bakery for a Bahn Mi because of the Yelp reviews, and have to say that this is one of the few times that Yelp has led me wrong. We walked into an incredibly hot and stifling bakery. There was no one in sight, and Hubby and I almost walked out when a man appeared from the back. The bakery case was almost empty with a few donuts and muffins that looked dry and stale. Sometimes the best food is from hole in the wall joints, so we order anyway. Hubby and I both order the grilled pork Bahn Mi. I watched as the guy put the meat in the microwave and pulled the veggies out of storage containers. The sandwiches were cheap at $5 a sandwich. We got into the car to eat the most disgusting Bahn Mi ever. The bread was stale and dry like a week old cafeteria roll... definitely NOT the airy, light and crispy French bread that should have been used. The microwaved meat was gray and rubbery. Neither Hubby nor I could get past a second bite and threw the entire sandwich away. I love supporting small local businesses, but the food here is simply gross.

I'm so glad my friend showed me this place. The Egg rolls are incredible and the bahn mi is the best I've found in Okc. I also had a mochi donut and oh my goodness it was absolutely amazing. When I walked in my order was taken immediately. I waited maybe 5 minutes for my food. I got 2 bahn mi ham sandwiches, 2 egg rolls and a blueberry mochi donut all for $12.50. I'm so excited to go back and try literally everything on the menu.

Does this place requires customers to wear a mask?

No, but the owner and workers are masked.

Just went by, Sunday at 5pm, lights off - hours on here and their door say 8?

They some times close early and not leave any notes on their door. This has happened to me a couple times. It's not cool, but I just shrug my shoulders and take my business elsewhere. Nhu Lan has good banh mi. It's across the street from Quoc Bao.

Tons of noodles, beef, and veggies. Personally I love when there's a lot of green onions, onions, basil, and bean sprouts. Also, I love when there's tendon and trip in Pho for added flavor and texture. Shrimp & Pork Spring Rolls with peanut sauce was a good appetizer. I washed it down with a strong Ca Phe Sua Da. Notes: I was staying in downtown area and got to the restaurant easily on a Lime e-scooter. Spacious and clean restaurant with tons of tables for small and large groups. I was welcomed immediately and the staff were friendly. I even got to practice my Vietnamese and have a short convo about the community. The food came out within minutes after I put in my order. Super fast, super tasty, and super satisfying meal!

Firstly, as stated in the previous line, this establishment is cash only. We didn't know that going in so it caused quite the hiccup when trying to pay. The employees were very nice and patient about it but it was still kind of embarrassing. There's an ATM available inside as well. Now onto the dining experience. PLH was very busy when we arrived. That did not stop them from seating us right away at a clean and stocked table. However, the ordering process did feel slightly rushed because of the volume of customers. They had a beautiful interior though with low music playing. The tables are all stocked with soy sauce, sriracha, hoisin, salt, pepper, and fish sauce. We had to request chili oil, which they happily obliged. The chili oil alone was a 10/10. Spicy, crunchy, well balanced. We started off with spring rolls (if you don't specify which ones they will automatically bring out the shrimp and pork ones) which came with a nice garlicky peanut sauce. The shrimp tasted fresh and the pork added a nice slight saltiness and texture. The noodles were cooked well and the veg was fresh and tightly wrapped even when dipped & bit. We both ordered the Pho Chin (lean brisket) one large and one small. Both portions were consistent with their descriptions. With the large I got more meat, broth AND noodles. I ended up taking half of mine home while my spouse finished theirs and felt comfortable. The broth was clear and delicious. I was worried that the broth would be sweet since that's been a common theme in OK, but that was not the case. Deliciously savory and balanced with spices. My only note would be that I would've liked two separate plates of side veg (jalapeños, lime, basil, bean sprouts) since we both enjoy these additions to our soups. Overall a good experience for the food alone. For the fact that we weren't told it was cash only from the start, we had to pay for water bottles instead of being offered cups, and the wait time for the check; this was not a GREAT experience. I really wanted to give this place 5 stars.

They've got the roast meats, a large Chinese dinner menu, an equally large Vietnamese dinner menu, catering for events, and my favorite: their dimsum menu. For their regular menu, my family and I will frequently order to go and occasionally dine in. We often order off the Chinese menu when we're going family style (flat noodles, salt & pepper squid, egg noodle lo mein, and scallion chicken are some of our favorites), and we will order from the Viet menu for individual portions (we love their egg noodle soups, pho, broken rice platters). One of my favorite dishes is their lotus root summer salad, and I've not found another place that beats that dish here! I've found their service with regular dining in to be hit or miss. Most of the time we get great service but a few times here and there we have a hard time finding our server. Moving on to my favorite part of Golden Phoenix- the dimsum. They serve dimsum primarily on the weekends from opening to 3pm (I think), and they have really brought up the OKC dimsum game with their large and delicious dimsum menu! Their dumplings like the hargow and shiumai are large, filling, and delicious! I particularly love the fried shrimp and chives dumpling and their shrimp egg rolls. The service during dimsum is fantastic because they've got people pushing around carts and carrying plates of food out to you. Once you're ready for dessert, make sure you grab some egg tarts for the table!
