I came to R!ah with bright yellow hair, with dark roots from a grown out self dye job (ugh). I'm starting a new job on Monday and just needed some hair TLC to look like a professional. Heather did an amazing job foiling and toning my hair to give me ash blonde locks. Heather and the rest of the staff all wore face masks, sanitized their stations and sinks between clients and sanitized clients' hands upon entry to the salon. They also have you call when you arrive, and then come out to get you , in order to ensure the number of people inside at one time is controlled. Finally... I loved the ease of booking online. I stopped by and was super happy I could get an appointment, everyone is booked during the holidays. I am super happy with my color and my cut it looks amazing. The only thing that is making me take the stars down... is the line around my fore head and hair line. I have gone to salons that will put something on your skin to prevent your skin from being stained. I am stained all the way around my head, and I wear my hair in a bun on a regular. Because this salon sells itself as doing men's haircuts, I booked an appointment. The first person I saw did not cut a basic men's cut evenly. So, I tried a second time with a different stylist. This cut was also very uneven--and this time I took in a photo that showed what I wanted. R!ah should not advertise that it sells mens' cuts unless they properly train their staff. This is my second time getting a balayage at r!ah. I booked my appointment ahead of time and showed up 5 minutes before scheduled. The staff got me in right away and started doing my hair immediately. I had Hannah as a hair stylist and was very pleased with the outcome of my hair! I gave her some freedom with the style and was glad I did. There wasn't too much conversation during the appointment, so if you're interested in talking with the stylist, maybe schedule with someone else, but if don't mind doing your own thing during the appointment, Hannah's the right one for you! I have to applaud this hair salon for their stellar customer service. I received a call the same day I posted my first review. The manager apologized for me being unhappy, and offered to fix it. She had already spoken with another stylist that had an idea of what I had wanted. They quickly squeezed me into their schedule, and I'm in LOVE with my new hair color. I have been a client of r!ah for four years. I was a newbie to Rochester and nervous about finding a stylist and someone I worked with in the Twin Cities recommended r!ah. I happened to get Shareesa and she is AWESOME! Once I started going to Shareesa, I understood the difference between a bad haircut and a good haircut. I used to "go crazy" when my hair would reach 6 weeks (w/my prior stylist), however Shareesa does such a great job cutting my hair, that if I can't get in right away, it's not a crisis. More than anything, I know my color needs a refresh, but the cut cut is still going strong. She's really good! Shareesa had to be out during a time that I needed to get my hair done and I went to Kortney and she was great too. Team is nice and the vibe is very positive. Highly recommend this salon. read more

Then I don't want to get up from the couch and get my card so I skip it. Anyway I ended up calling and they didn't require any payment over the phone. Weird, I wonder if that was studied calling versus online appointments. Anyway, I saw Sara P and she's fabulous. My hair was a mess, and she recommended all over color rather than to attempt balayage again, unless I wanted to of course. I took her up on it and went DARK. I love it. If you're confused about the name (and how the heck you're supposed to pronounce it), it's hair spelled backwards. That is to say, it's hair spelled backwards if hair was spelled "ha!r." Don't think about it too hard. It's a hair salon. And it's about as fine a hair salon as you'll find in Rochester, MN. Expect good service and lots of Aveda products. Except maybe here they're called Adev@ products. Or something. Prices are very reasonable (at least for men's cuts). Do yourself a favor and schedule an appointment with Patrick. I've had my hair cut by him since he was the owner of the now defunct O'Hair salon. He does an awesome job. Though I'm sure everyone else here does an awesome job too. read more

A great cut for a reasonable price! I moved to Rochester from a big city and was nervous I wouldn't be able to find a good location for a high-end men's haircut. Luckily, r!ah meets the mark, and is relatively affordable ($35 for a men's haircut - well worth it for the quality). Kady gave a great haircut and is conversational, as well as attentive to how I wanted my cut. She asked up front what I was looking for and checked in throughout. My wife recommended Kady and after years of my 15 minute hair cuts at "the barber shop" with someone different every time, and coming home and hearing "what the hell happened to you" I had enough. This is absolutely not a curly hair specialist. I have been going to Ouidad in Manhattan and trust me I tried to find easier ways to get a haircut because of time and money. This salon charged me 150.00 and it was the most disastrous haircut I ever got. Usually I am not afraid to try something new because my hair grows so fast. I have been coming here for a couple years to the same person for hair appointments. In August, I booked a haircut and style for September for a wedding/event that day. I received a confirmation email however when I came to R!ah they had no record of my appointment and said there would be no one where to do my hair. I was disappointed.
