The ladies were nice and we had a great time but that doesn't excuse the inability to dye hair correctly. I'm have dyed my hair multiple times and go to professionals because of the color I request. Multiple ladies worked together and couldn't get the correct hair color. Very expensive for the incorrect color and didn't even try to correct their mistake. I won't be going back. I have never had a haircut from Jen but she is my go-to for color. I went in with a picture of what I had in mind and together we came up with some thing even better than what I wanted. She listens to me and offers suggestions as a professional that Help me make better decisions for my hair. The blowout is what I am specifically giving feedback on. I had asked for a round brush blow out, shared in advance that I have long hair so there was enough time, and the blowout was bad. I wanted body, smoothness as my hair has body naturally and big curls at ends - I even showed her a past picture of myself and a blowout I'd loved and gotten at another salon in Mpls. I would not recommend. The staff were super nice and friendly, and I was able to make an appointment about 2 weeks out for a retouch of my roots and an all over tone to get out the brassiness (I'm a platinum blonde). Lou did my hair, and everything was great until I got the counter to pay. They charged me for a hair treatment that I was never told I was getting (a B3 treatment for an additional $20 even though it wasn't on the sheet I signed for the price I would pay from the consult at the beginning of the appointment), and when I got home I saw the color in my hair was not even. There is still orange tones in my hair, meaning it didn't get toned or processed correctly. The staff was nice, the salon was super clean and beautiful, but I am only giving 3 stars because I was charged something I never was told I was getting and once I got home and looked underneath at my hair it wasn't even. Edit: After posting my initial review, the owner of the salon contacted me personally to make things right. I came back today (a week after my initial visit) and the hair stylist that originally worked on me helped me for 2 hours to figure out what was going on with my hair. They corrected the color, and my hair now looks wonderful (all free of charge thanks to the owner). I will be going back to this wonderful stylist for future appointments, and I am changing my review from 3 to 5 stars because of the wonderful customer service. read more

I just moved to the area and was in search of a salon that was just as good as my old one. So far I am very impressed with this salon and am a very happy customer! I have long curly/wavy hair that can be difficult to work with, or at least I only trust it with the best. Kim, the owner, decided to take on the challenge and she has been absolutely wonder! Kim cuts my hair just the way I like it without taking off too much and her highlights are spot on. I seem to always want to mix up the highlighting with her every visit, but she'll add her professional opinion which I appreciate and trust. Together we make a highlight combo that I always seem to get compliments on. The best part is after she's done blow drying my hair she styles it and I walk out feeling like a million bucks! The parking for the salon in the parking garage on the first level -- park where the designated signs are for WE or West End Salon. I love the way Kim has the salon decorated very classy chic and her receptionist always greets me by my first name -- This whole place is very detail oriented, which I appreciate! I have not tried the spa part of the salon yet but the area looks very inviting and have every intention of trying in the future. read more

In town at Mayo, live in an RV. Needed a good haircut didn't know I wasn't getting good haircuts. Made an appointment for myself and my husband, Lexi who cut my hair did an amazing job! My hair is wavy this is by far the best cut I've gotten in 2 years! Wish I could stay here to get my next cut. If I'm ever in the area again I know where I'm going. After moving here from Scottsdale, my hair became so frizzy, unruly, tangled, and weighed down. My digital perm was growing out. It became so unmanageable! Being so devastated, I took a chance and scheduled an appt at West End with Cole. Cole was super easy to talk to. He listened to all my concerns and understood what I wanted. What I liked most is that he didn't straighten my hair and cut it. He didn't use thinning shears or razor blade. Instead he used strictly sharp scissors on both wet / dry hair. I could tell his background is from Aveda institute. His cutting technique was very methodical. He was able to cut off a lot of my dead ends without losing a lot of length. He texturized my course hair without causing it to frizz. I am beyond impressed! My cut and blowout is amazing. Thank you Cole and West End for such a great experience! read more

Love! I'm not from Rochester so I relied on reviews to find a decent salon at a good price. I have fine curly hair, and I was specifically looking for a place that I could trust to take care of it. The salon is very well kept, and I was able to easily request an appointment online. I saw Megan about a week ago and I wish I could bring her back to my home town. Not only was she super nice, she was knowledgable about curly hair, and made sure I was confident in what she would be doing before she cut anything. She also diffused it per my request, which was amazing. I was fully prepared to pay a lot for the cut since it is a very nice salon, but even after my tip it was way cheaper than I expected (perhaps because I didn't get it fully styled after the cut). read more

I love West End Salon!!! First of all, let's talk about Jade! Jade is responsible for the best Brazilian wax I've ever had! And I am Brazilian! Having been getting one for almost 20 years, I believe I have some knowledge to talk about this. Jade uses the best wax, it doesn't get attached to your skin, only to your hair. It makes the process as painless as it can be! Plus, Jade is one of the sweetest people I know! Then comes Alice Morales! BEST blow out! She can straighten your curly hair without using an iron, just the brush and the dryer! Amazing! And last but not least, the staff is super helpful, cordial and welcoming. West End caught my eye when I saw you can schedule a consultation with the stylist before an appointment. I met with Regan and immediately felt comfortable with the ideas she had for my hair based on a few pictures I found. She's super friendly and outgoing. And from their website, I found WebOpenings. It has great last minute appointment times at discounted prices. I was able to get an appointment within 2 hours AND a discount. When I arrived, I asked my stylist, Heather, if she also had time for a cut. She was able to add that on (at regular price). She did a wonderful job on both the color and my cut and style. I requested an appointment online for my sister to get a haircut and for me to get balayage and cut. The salon called me as soon as they opened and were able to accommodate us together for the exact time requested. Our stylists were ready for us as soon as we came in. Lexie did my hair and she is awesome - so friendly and talented! My hair turned out great (comparable if not better than my experiences in NYC). I made an appointment for a Brazilian wax after purchasing a voucher on Groupon. I want to be clear - THIS WAS NOT MY FIRST BRAZILIAN. I am aware that they are painful, as I've had several. The Esthetician Courtney was either inexperienced or incompetent. She chose to use a hard wax (versus a soft wax with strips). I informed her that no one had ever used a hard wax before and she assured me that it was "gentler". NOT TRUE AT ALL. She did not get the wax off of my skin in one quick pull and had to pick the wax of little by little. I was shaking and crying by the end of my appointment. This was not my first Brazilian but it is the only one that has ever made me bleed, or cry. I will never go here again. And it will probably be a long time before I get another wax... read more
