I brought my truck to R & F Auto on August 26th because it had a history of not starting at times or a hesitation to turn over. It definitely had a problem. My truck sat in his parking lot for nearly 3 weeks before Ronnie, my 3rd mechanic, even looked at it. So I had to rent a car for 13 days, which was very costly and I also had to borrow a friend's car. Well, on September 15th, nearly 3 weeks later, Ronnie told me that he couldn't find anything wrong with my truck, except he had to spray something that was rusted on the wiring. He also said it started up every time for him. My truck always hesitated to start. I'm glad he didn't charge me for whatever he did to it. But he said he would be curious to know what was wrong with it if I continued to have problems starting it, which was still an issue. Well, I brought my truck to a 4th mechanic who fixed it in 2 days! It was both camshaft sensors A & B, which my 2nd mechanic said wasn't the problem after he only replaced one of them, but later reinstalled the old one when he realized that wasn't the problem. It ended up being both camshaft sesors that was the problem. I also had the wrong starter installed by my first mechanic back in April. It had a lower voltage than what should have been in there. My truck starts up great now. No hesitation whatsoever. It's too bad it took my 4th mechanic to figure it out. I even went back to my "new" mechanic a week later, and he replaced the front brakes, rotors, pads, calipers & 1 brake line the day after I dropped it off.. The worst incompetence I've ever seem in a shop. Over 2 weeks to not do the requested work. No communication whatsoever.

i've been using RF service over 10 years now with all my vehicles but over the past couple of times I've brought vehicles in for service. They've sat in the yard and not been touched for days when I asked why they hadn't been touched. Ronnie told me because he was overbooked, so I still have a car that's not fixed and I brought it to him twice an appointment so I made him look at all the receipts and the worth was done to my vehicles over the years. I see that Ronnie is nothing but a rip off and a crook wouldn't bring a bicycle to Guy do yourself a favor stay away I found a real mechanic who is honest and very reasonable. Good mechanics out there, but this guy is definitely one of them. !!!!! he's very rude and not personable whatsoever read more

Ron's a great guy - totally reasonable and truly honest. Has a great reputation with people who's vehicles he services. He works really hard too, he's constantly on the move. One of the things I like is being able to get an oil change in the morning without any appointment. If you get yourself in there by 8 you can get that done usually, unless it's really busy. He services both foreign and domestic vehicles. He's done a lot of different work for me and he'll explain what he's done or what your options are. read more

Honesty, quality, knowledge and speed - the four qualities that really make a good auto repair shop. In my experience, R&F rates at the top for all of those qualities. And the team is very friendly as a bonus!. They same-day repaired my "check engine light" problem -and only that problem - without trying to sell me a complete overhaul of the entire system. This shop was highly recommended by a nearby auto parts store as the best around, but maybe not the cheapest. There might be some shop nearby that is cheaper, but so far, I'm happy with my choice. Matte of fact, I'm taking vehicle back to get a suspension issue taken care of. I highly recommend. read more

This place is the best. We needed a heater core for my daughters Honda Civic. They did a great job and saved me a lot of money compared to other places we called. Car was done at promised time and they even gave us a loner over the weekend at no charge without us even asking. Being a former mechanic it is very refreshing to find an honest place that does great work at an honest price. The owner is always on site working right along side of the other mechanics so he always knows what is going on with your vehicle. I could not be happier to find this gem of a business. On my way to my cousin's funeral, driving from New York City to Warren, RI, I found my gas tank door frozen shut on an exceedingly cold morning. After a few attempts for assistance at other stations, and my gas tank flashing empty, I pulled into R&F with little hope of getting to the funeral on time. The staff and mechanics were so sympathetic, and got to work on it immediately. With hot water and a heat gun, Ron managed to get the ice melted that was holding the door in place. When the release still didn't work, he called the local VW mechanic, and was able to find the release hidden behind the trunk lining. Ron refused to charge me for the repair, although I managed to have him accept a tip for his trouble. I was so impressed with the kindness and care that was extended to me. I made it just in time for the funeral, where I was one of the pallbearers. If I lived closer, this fine shop would be my number one choice for work. My car broke down enroute between Boston and New York City and I was towed after hours to this garage as both the tow company and the consignment store owner where I broke down recommended it. Very early the next day, I spoke with the owner, who informed me that he'd thought my car was his sister in law's as she has the exact same car and he'd already checked it and determined I needed an alternator. Unfortunately, since its an old car, the part had to be searched out and an alternator was finally located in Boston. The delivery took most of the day, but I was kept apprised of the progress regularly and during the wait, I became acquainted with LIsa, the office manager. She was very friendly and made my wait fun!! The company has been in business since the 80s and has many, many repeat customers! Ultimately, the car was fixed (the part was a bit too expensive, I thought, but what do I know?) but I trust the garage and would recommend it heartily to anyone in the area or passing by. read more

I have been using this guy for years now around 7 years to be correct. in feb of this year I dropped off my jeep to have a transmission oil pan replaced that was done and I was charged a hour labor to do it kind of high when you look at it only has 4 bolts !!!!!!! did it really take one hour to replace that ?????? second thing I wrote on the key tag was to check the heat wasn't getting hot enough I also wrote to Please call before DOING ANYTHING regarding the heat do to the fact I was out of work and had limited funds. Ronnie the owner called me and said the jeep needed a heater core so I ask him to call my warranty company which told him they didn't cover the part or labor to repair it so I asked Ronnie how much it would be he said around $900.00 so I said to wait and I would pay him for the oil pan labor but had to wait to do the heater core he said to late he already took the jeep apart WITHOUT MY PERMISION ????????? and that It was not drivable so I went to look at it and the whole dash board was out along with steering wheel Ronnie showed me all the parts to my jeep but never showed me the new heater core he said the new heater core was already in the console but I couldn't tell and he NEVER SHOWED ME THE OLD HEATER CORE why I dont know I also dont know why he had to take the truck aprt to find out the heater core was bad I called three Local JEEP DEALERS AND WHERE TOLD YOU DONT NEED TO TAKE THE HEATER CORE APART TO TELL IF ITS GOOD OR BAD I was also told you can try to flush the old core first before replacing it My point is the jeep was taken apart to force me into a $900.00 repair That is why I wrote on the key tag Please call me first. with a Price . one week later got a call jeep was done Ronnie told me to make a down payment and he would take weekly payments so I made a down payment and took the jeep home the next Monday I made another payment I was going to make another payment on the next Friday but received a demand for payment From a lawyer for the balance before I could make a payment ????????????? I called and spoke to Ronnie and he said I lied about being laid off when a week earlier he called me asking how much could he count on per week and I told him min of $50.00 intill I return to work very very disappointed in this place very dishonest treatment of a customer who had spend a lot of money there over the years ????? I have turned this matter over to my lawyer to be handled. I advise if you go there get a estimate in writing or beware This guys labor rate is way to high !!!!!!!!!!!!!! read more
