I've taken my truck there before and had no problems until now. I had them install one and my truck died on the side of the hwy with the same problem two days later. Had to tow it back and I was closer to another shop I had been referred to by friends. Didn't want to take it back to them to fix because at this point I didn't exactly trust them(which I think is fair) but there was no bad blood at this point. They made a human error which I understand. Turns out they installed it incorrectly. No big deal I just thought the appropriate thing was to just ask for my money back on the labor not even the part. Tried to contact the owner for a month but no answer or call back at all. Started to feel just blown off and after leaving multiple voicemails the owner finally calls me. I just wanted to work something out to make it right. Right off the bat the guy was incredibly standoffish and was very rude. Initially refused to pay me anything but after explaining how I didn't want to pay for improper labor we agreed that he would reimburse me. I thought we agreed that he'd mail the check to me but after weeks of not getting it I decided to call him to see what happened. Tried to give him the benefit of the doubt and think maybe he forgot. Called him multiple times and left texts but no answer. Finally was able to get ahold of him once I called the shop phone. Right away on the call it was the same thing. He told me he's written the check and it's waiting on his desk and if I want it so bad to come to his shop and pick it up and he didn't owe me anything claiming he already made it right and I needed to get it myself. It was just a miscommunication but his attitude is completely unprofessional and way too aggressive. Talked to one of his employees I know and told him about my experience and how I felt about it. He calls me back and tells me we need to "have a talk" about talking to his employees while they're on the clock. If he's worried about it then I thought that's something he needs to talk to his employees about taking personal calls on the job. Words were exchanged about his customer service and how he doesn't owe me anything and threatened to not even refund me. Had a huge meltdown about somebody calling him out on his poor business ethics and out of line attitude. After that he shorted me money on the check but I just wanted to leave. Told him on my way out that he needs to work on his customer service and he told me to come back inside in a very aggressive tone since I was still "running my mouth". As far as I'm concerned that was just feedback. Completely out of line and has zero customer service skills is all I have to say about this guy. If you go to this shop hopefully they do a good job which I'm sure is mostly the case because the techs are good. But if they make a mistake don't expect the owner to take any accountability and expect him to be extremely out of line. Will never deal with that guy again.

Thankyou RANDY L FOR FIXING OUR CAR No longer in business…read morenow as he had retired and we did a air conditioning on Chrysler van that has 200,000 miles here is some of the details HE SAID the A/C filling port and the line it resides upon Is A very marginal and old line -and that the valve was stuck into it ,,,and he could not pull it out which is using a simple special screwdriver, I know because they are just like tire valves - - anyway he filled it up with 2 pounds of Freon ...chargeD MAX $$$ The basically maximum that he could charge and now only about nine months (I expected his system installation to be able to go at least two years and it's not)after he had done it but into the summer of 2020 the air conditioner is not working very good on the really hot days and I also really wonder whether the defroster is going to continue to work properly; When the weather becomes getting icy cold and freezing because part of the defroster uses some of the air-conditioning on the front windshield, he told me he would be willing to add another pound of Freon down the road if I paid for the material he would cover the cost of the labor on the part installation but now his business is closed and I hope he remembers that he should look at his reviews and then try and call me back one time when I left my phone number Voicemail ,Thanks Randy but probably going to you just used almost $200 of our time and money, and that's only for AC and you said you would do it correctly, but then you admit to not wanting to dig into it after the fact and no phone call in the middle of it )(I just already change the cabin air filter so I know that's good

We were clients of Ken's before the sale of the business, and will remain so at Tigard Transmissions..They did an excellent job [ five stars] with an improved torque converter and full transmission rebuild in a vintage full size jeep with a Turbo-hydromatic 400.

I assume they're all going to try to take advantage of me and my wallet simply because, well, they can. I'm very happy to report that Lake Oswego Transmission is not one of those shops and definitely renewed my faith in the industry. I recently bought an '87 Ford Tempo and had noticed some transmission issues for a couple of days and just kept hoping they would go away. Yeah, right. Coffee in hand and about to head to work, the old Tempo decides that she's had enough and told me so by not shifting past 1st gear. Not knowing where to turn and completely frazzled I recalled seeing one of those local coupon magazines in my mail a few days earlier. I sifted through my recycling bin and found their ad and gave them a call. The owner Ken told me that he was looking at a pretty full schedule that day but if I could limp my car in he would try to fit me in and see what the problem was. Within minutes of showing up at the shop Ken had my car in their very clean facility and popped the hood. Seconds later he found the problem, a broken dohicky/thingamajig that was an easy and inexpensive fix. I was thrilled but only for minutes, unfortunately. Ken offered to also put the old girl up on the lift and do a visual inspection since I was there anyway. Of course, I couldn't get off so darn easy as he showed me an obviously blown cv joint/transaxle thingamabob. It was painfully clear that my girl needed some love and I was delighted when Ken gave me the estimate for the parts and labor(providing he didn't find any additional problems) and said it should be done the same day. So, I managed a ride to work and left the old girl with Ken and waited for the dreaded call where the guy tells you that she needs a complete overhaul and that it will take a few days and cost more than I make in a week. That didn't happen. Instead, Ken called me and told me the old girl's tranny was working just fine and gave me the good news that he was right in line with the earlier estimate. The story gets even better, however. My car was missing/hesitating badly before I brought it into the shop and I told Ken about it when I dropped her off. With my limited mechanical skills I managed to replace the fuel filter, spark plugs, distributor cap and rotor a few weeks prior but nothing I did fixed the problem. When Ken called me he told me one of the cylinders was dropping and that he'd be happy to try to find and fix the problem. He found that I had a bad plug wire, slapped a new set of them in and got my old girl purring like a kitten again. He even stayed late to get the work done for me and did it all for what I considered a very fair price. A long-winded story, I know. But I just want everyone in the Lake Oswego/Tigard/Tualatin area to know just how good the service was, how fair and honest Ken was and that I will definitely refer my friends and family to him in the future.

Short version: Over…read morea seven year period, Martin missed one issue, the motor and transmission mounts.That was the only thing he missed in 7 years. He caught the rest, and he didn't break my car. He likes to repair cars. I can't say the rest for the Portland area. I hope the next one can finally finish the oil pan. Still have my Honda though. 125 K and not going anywhere. I've meant to leave this review since I met Martin when he opened his shop outside of his home. He is now on Johnson Creek Blvd. I liked him, because he was polite, to the point, and didn't waste my money. Other mechanics shamed me for use of aftermarket, and he told me that was bs and to save for real repair, of which there are plenty. He was correct. Over the years, I had many things done on my Honda. Beats buying a new car. I love my 1999 Honda Accord DX. He always fixed my car, and he never caused damage. I can't say that for other mechanics in Portland. Unfortunately, the pandemic caused issues for me and for Martin. In October of 2020, I heard this odd noise in the car. He looked it over and did an oil change. Nothing was wrong. He looked again upon request and the lower ball joints were done along with the drive belts. Maintenance stuff. The noise persisted, and he really doesn't like replacing parts, and he's right about not replacing btw. After we talked, and I was sick and very panicked from the virus, he agreed that it could be the shocks/struts and would do that, and the timing belt, which was 11 years old. We sort of lost sight of that, but he did examine it regularly. I never had an issue. I left but didn't want to have the work done there, because I felt like he didn't think it was the issue. I regret that moment of taking it to another place. They didn't hear it either and they damaged my car in a few ways when they did the timing belt, shocks, and struts. Martin ended up fixing their mess. The noise persisted, and he couldn't hear it. I took it to another place, and they found the issue. It was the engine mounts and the transition mount. They installed high-quality, aftermarket, but also, damaged the car. It vibrated like mad, leaked coolant, and accelerator pedal was stuck. I went back to Martin, and he said there was no noise. He had the car a few times for days to try to hear it. He never did. The last time, I came in and he said he would do an inspection. I hadn't realized that meant full paid inspection. Had I known, I wouldn't have done it that day. He found a leak but didn't hear or feel the vibration, which was obvious to me. It was $50 to fix the leak. I said "no." I had been allowed to decide on repairs. I was at a point where I had spent over $3K and it was still shaking. My 22-year-old was not comfortable in the car she had loved. Then, Martin told me I'd have to pay him about $150 (not sure) for the check. I told him that I wasn't going to pay him, and he told me that was fine, that I could pick up the car, and not return. I actually am not judging. I wish I had allowed him to fix the leak and just waited. He would have heard the noise eventually. I think we both had issues at this time. A perfect storm situaion. Perhaps, Hondas of this age sound noisy a lot. I couldn't drive it due to my inner ear issues though. I took it to another place and it has been fixed. OEM Honda mounts and that was the issue from the beginning. I won't add to the story. There is more. I will say that I wish I could go back and just wait until the noise became a little louder. I heard sliding of the engine and the thunk on start up, but I just needed to wait or record it. Hard to do. Martin is a very good mechanic, who doesn't waste your money. I don't know why he missed it this once, but I have known him since about 2013, and he's the only one I can recommend in Portland. That's true even if I am not able to be a client any longer. I don't blame myself, but I wish we could have worked it out. I would have loved to have him fix the car. He has a lot of talent. Just try to communicate clearly and keep track of your maintenance schedule (there are a lot of car types). If he says no, make sure to explain before you go elsewhere and be patient if you aren't scared. I was afraid in my car. The pandemic made it worse. A As far as his work, it is typically 5-star. I wanted to explain why I rated the way I did even when I had issues the last time.
