Arrived here to be told they couldn't help, that they were booked for two weeks, and to look elsewhere for help. So many things I could say. My family has been coming to see lance for 30 years (even when he was the mechanic at the now Fred Meyers fuel station on Wilsonville rd). The work is always quality and you will never get over charged or scammed! My mom and dad literally come here for everything car related. The place is dog/kid friendly. The Toyota dealership was going to charge me $170.00 just to diagnose my car with the computer system and lance did it for free even when I needed no repairs. If I could give negative stars I would. Took my car there for a brake issue, which they diagnosed and repaired, but I got my car back with a faulty turbocharger (at least that's what they told me) and the damn thing was emitting smoke now (blue, oil smoke) on my way home. When I told them after I got my car back the first time that it now was very sluggish and gutless compared to when I took it in, they at first were not going to work with me to attempt to diagnose what this "new" problem was. After 30 min of arguing, they finally agreed to give a look. Now, this new problem that didn't exist before I took my car there that they have diagnosed as a turbo issue, they claim they don't even know how to fix. It was the perfect scenario you hear about happening but hope never happens to you when dealing with a mechanic. You take it in for a minor issue and now your engine is smoking and making whirling and grinding noises that were not there when you dropped the car off. Of course, their answer is that it must be my fault combined with the "newer" car maker recommendations to change your oil less. If you want your car to run after a trip to the mechanic, don't go here. Now I'm likely facing a 2000.00 repair at another mechanic or at a dealer. FML read more

My Lexus needed the left flash panel under the front of the car, which was torn down in the car wash, removed. It was literally dragging on the street when driving. Lance's Superior Auto Service removed it today, and also detected a rear bulb was burned out, which was replaced. "How much do I owe"? $5.00. I paid the $5.00 and tipped $5.00. I was towed here after my catalytic converter gave out on my road trip up the coast. I immediately did not feel welcome or comfortable talking to the guy and felt like he couldn't care less to help me and my situation. He was very unhelpful when I was asking his opinion about what might be wrong and if he could fix it. He told me he was busy, which I understand, but he would not give me an answer as to whether he could do the repair or not. He eventually told me he could help if I wanted to "call his clients to ask for their spots" in his schedule. This rude comment was my last straw and as a woman I felt very undermined and uncomfortable. A simple "I'm sorry I'm unable to fit you in but here are some recommendations..." would have been a great and helpful answer. It is already nerve wracking going into auto repair shops as a woman, especially on a roadtrip in an unfamiliar place so I really didn't appreciate this place and their poor customer service. We had the greatest experience with Lance's! Our car's alternator died as we were cruising down I-5. We got off at the nearest exit which happened to be 293 to Wilsonville, OR. We searched nearest auto repair. Luckily it was Lance's! We limped to the shop and turned off the car and it was dead on arrival! Carrie behind the desk amazingly got us right in. I have an '01 Dodge Dakota with a small lift, 1.5". I was recommended to go there to get 2 upper ball joints, and a left inner tie-rod replaced, and an alignment because I have new tires.. After they replaced the parts, my truck didn't handle good at all, pulling VERY hard to the right. I dropped the truck off with no pull, or noticeable issue. The company that referred me to them did knowing the truck was raised a little with stock parts. When I showed up to Lance's Superior Auto the nice lady at the front desk accepted my truck for the repairs, and alignment. No warning of any possible issues. They did the $900 worth of repairs but then said that I would have to go to another shop to have them fully do the alignment. They said they cannot do the full alignment, but when I call every other shop they express that they can definitely adjust the camber, caster and toe (normal adjustments for alignments) on my truck. Talked with Lance himself and the only options I was given were to have the bad parts reinstalled, have them readjust it out of spec or drive slowly to another shop!? They also said they do not have to tools to adjust the camber and caster. Looking online at a Mopar manual for my truck it says it only needs wrenches or sockets/ratchet, and alignment rack. So now I have to just go somewhere else. Took my money and then they returned it in a much worse condition, with no actual fix.....simply saying that I have to drive slowly to someone else to get it fixed fully!? They shouldn't have accepted it if they don't know how to adjust it all. They shouldn't have had me pay for the $900 in repairs if they couldn't even adjust it fully, like every other alignment place that I talked too can. This was an incomplete repair. Firestone in Oregon City Shopping Center said they can happily adjust it for me, I should just have had them do it to save money and time. read more

So I have definitely been through it with mechanics. Whether it's paying too much for basic services or begging them to do a thorough job, it's impossible to find good reliable mechanics. I do 90% of my own work on my vehicles so I can tell when I'm being swindled. That being said, the people at Lance's are a cut above. No appointments available when I showed up but STILL took the time to take a look at my vehicle to make sure I was safe until my scheduled appointment. The front desk lady was extremely pleasant and informative. When my vehicle was ready for pick up everything was fixed perfectly and the price for labor was beyond fair. Not so with Lance's Superior Auto Service - I have a VW and I was struggling to find a place around me that wasn't a dealership that could diagnose a check engine light warning. Leona and Carrie were up front about availability, timing of repairs and what to expect. I decided to bring my car in the next day after calling. I dropped it off late morning, by early afternoon the problem was assessed and I was able to get my car by end of day. I felt the price for the parts and labor were fair. This place was a life saver for me and my RV troubles. I had some transmission issue that they needed to order a part for. I was staying in a local RV park that while I could drive my RV...not very far. Two days later they had the parts in and when I brought my rig in, they let me hang out inside my RV and then inside the nice waiting room with my laptop. It was a campout session for the day at Lance's. The price was fair and honest. Carrie the Service Advisor was really nice too. If I lived in the area I would take my car in here as it's hard to find a garage that's knowledgeable and honest. They even sent me a thank you card which was a nice touch. read more

If you're looking for the worlds worst automotive shop, look no further! Against my better judgement, I took my truck in last week to have a local shop look at my AC and become 'my new shop'. Before my departure I made a verbal agreement with the receptionist that I wouldn't be charged until I was called and approved the charges/work. However, the only phone call I received was that they were done and that the entire unit needed to be replaced. Seeing that I own a truck with 390k on it, I figured that it would be fine if we lived out it's days without any. She told me that the only thing I would be charged for was freon (which they took out since I told them I wasn't going to have them fix the compressor). When I returned to the shop they said I owed $117 for an "inspection fee". First off, I've never been charged for an inspection fee, only service fees. After she brought the owner of the business into the room I introduced myself, I was polite, and explained the situation to him. His response was, "Okay, what do you want? ... were you expecting a free inspection?" After explaining to him that I had never been charged for an inspection fee that wasn't discussed prior to the inspection, he said, "get your shit, and get out of my shop," which I was happy to at that point. Fast forward to the next day when I come out to a gallon of coolant on the ground under the truck. Something is obviously wrong, so I called to see if they were decent enough to fix the issue. Long story short; I spoke to the manager who said, "Sorry, the owner said he doesn't want you back, nor will he speak to you... If you think you can go home and sabotage your truck to get free work from us, you're mistaken." So if you're looking for quality work and care, this isn't the place. read more

Lance's shop is a smaller place and therefore he tries to schedule so he doesn't have tons of cars on the street. His scheduling always seems prompt. In the office, we are greeted in a calm, friendly manner. An oil change seemed expensive, but other service has always been priced fair. Oil change, all points inspection, rotation of tires and brake check was $69.00. I asked for the brake check. Even though it may have been more expensive, I feel I can trust their evaluation.
