I asked around our neighborhood for recommendations but struck out for the type of work I needed to get done. So I tried Yelp and a few contractors responded with 2 coming out in person to provide quotes. The first person who came said he'll provide a quote that same night...but didn't do so until a couple of days later. Ramon from R R Restoration came over the following day and provided a quote that same night. I contacted another contractor to make sure the quoted price was competitive and he said it was...so we chose Ramon and his crew from R R Restoration to do the work. The work consisted of repairing a "tape bubble" on drywall, prepping and repainting a door frame and garage trim as well as repairing and re-staining a couple of exterior shutters. All the work was done professionally and Ramon was there all throughout the project. We were so satisfied with their work that we had them come back to replace some floor tiles we noticed had cracked (poor install by the builder). They did an excellent job with the tile work too! We've been impressed by their professionalism, expertise in various types of jobs, the quality of their work and the competitive bids. Highly recommend R R Restoration!

NEVER AGAIN. Hiring…read moreBurttschell Construction and working with Geoffrey Hunter Burttschell (512-214-4717) was a deeply regrettable and extremely costly mistake. He built six cabins for me -- and what I received was an appalling level of construction riddled with dangerous shortcuts, poor workmanship, and blatant code violations. A licensed professional inspector produced a 24-page deficiency report, with repairs estimated to exceed $50,000. Just a few highlights include: Electrical wiring was not up to code, with missing AFCI protection and unsafe connections. Roofing was improperly installed, with leaks, damaged flashing, and exposed areas. The homes were not sealed to their foundations, leaving large gaps that led to infestations of bugs, moisture intrusion, and rolly pollies inside the units. Fascia boards were deteriorating, and stucco was already cracking throughout. Ventilation fans were improperly routed into the attic, violating code and risking mold. Water heaters were installed without proper access, violating basic safety practices. Windows were not secured to the building -- they were literally just set into place. A kitchen sink detached from the countertop due to improper installation. Structural piers were not anchored to floor beams -- a serious safety oversight. And there was no attic access, making future maintenance impossible. Even worse: instead of fixing any of this, Hunter rarely showed up on-site and eventually tried to exploit the fact that I was selling the property. He placed a mechanic's lien on the property over a $16,000 holdback -- despite refusing to address over $50,000 in documented repairs. When asked to correct the issues, his response was: "Pay me in full first." This was by far the worst contractor experience I have ever had. If you're considering working with Burttschell Construction, I urge you to read the inspection report and look at the photos -- this is just the tip of the iceberg.

Who ever install the doors stripped every single screw because they were lazy, and who ever installed the light fixtures was so lazy they didn't patch the hole they left AND in the master bath, the fixtures are crooked and not level that coupled with the crooked shower, you feel like you're going insane. The mirrors in the master bath are also not level. Instead of using 1 piece of granite in the master bath counter, they used 2 and cheaped out there too. They didn't even try to level off the two pieces to you couldn't tell it was 2 pieces so there's this uneven spot right in the middle of the counter. Oh and we're still waiting for them to fix the texture on the drywall (this will be the 4th time they try to fix it) because they wanted to be cheap and not fix it right the first 3 times. You know that Phillips reply on all this was? " Nothing is going to be perfect ". When you spend your life savings on a house, and it's $350,000+, it better be a heck of a lot closer than what we got. AVOID ANYTHING TOUCHED BY Phillip or Zach at all costs and don't trust anything they say.

Koren was super pleasant to work with all around. Fast, clear communication before the initial meeting. A lot of a great ideas during the initial meeting, for how to keep our project within budget, and where it was worth splurging or dialing back. We had requested a bid on two main projects (Kitchen and Primary Bathroom) and help deciding the scope for the remainder of our projects (Flooring, Guest Bath, Office, Patio, Etc.). We were shocked by how much of the "bonus" projects we could fit in, and yet felt very confident with Koren's insights that these were realistically within our budget. The formal quote came in REALLY fast after our meeting, and was very easy to follow and extremely fairly priced. Was very impressed with how quickly they were ready to begin the work, and the forethought of asking us if we planned to "live-in" during the remodel vs. get an AirBNB or the like. We hadn't even thought of that. Would have been very confident in moving forward with ATX Remodeling. Especially as Koren had so many examples of the type of elaborate communication and oversight we would have at every stage of the process.
