My favorite tacos (chorizo!!) in the US are from R&R taqueria. While the tacos are delicious, the service and wait times at the Light street location (pre-COVID-19) can be hit or miss. It is a safer bet to visit the restaurant outside busy office hours if you want to get your food quickly. We've otherwise sometimes spent over an hour waiting for our food during lunch hours. That being said, the tacos are worth the wait for me! I've also tried the tacos at the white marsh and elkridge location and can say that they definitely taste the same. We ordered carry out a few weeks ago and were glad to find the tacos traveled well. We only ran in and picked up from the counter so can't attest to safety precautions and the hygiene of the restaurant during COVID-19 but safe to say, the food was just as delicious! read more

This location has gone downhill since opening. I visited this location last Saturday and I received the following pickup order: 1. Undercooked French fries, 2. Chewy chicken on a California Burrito, and 3. Chewy Papa Con Chorizo on a California Burrito. It's obvious that the staff they have on board DO NOT KNOW HOW TO COOK or JUST DON'T GIVE A DAMN. I was appalled by what I received and chopped it up as a loss, rather than waste gas driving all the way back to this dump. I will never go here again, BEWARE. read more

Awful, horrific service. No host and only two servers working, who didn't appear to be concerned at all that there was a long line of very hungry, upset customers waiting to be seated. My daughter and I are in town for a concert and this place put a huge damper on our night. We ended up leaving and finding a place to grab something quick to eat. For anyone who is hesitant based on the reviews on here, i highly suggest checking it out for yourself and making your own decisions. Grand openings for restaurants are hard. From speaking with those in the industry they tell me i should have avoided going that first week. I will be honest, it was absolutely horrendous. I left after being there for an hour without food. Customer service was lacking, the overall atmosphere was disappointing. Fast forward to a few weeks later. I had an incredible waitress who was so nice and honest with me about the issues they had initially. The food was delicious (I had tacos) and the chips they give you initially are unique and tasty. They provided me with a choice of a quick menu or full menu. Knowing they are catering to the business lunch crowd, they stepped up their game and are providing service that is quicker and more stream lined. I am definitely going back again, especially since they have corrected their mistakes and owned up to it. read more

R&R is located right on the corner of light st & you can't miss its feature of the food network display on the window! It's street parking and easily accessible via public transportation. I went in for happy hour but was disappointed that they stop serving HH due to the pandemic. Don't really understand how they make sense if social distance was in tact but oh well. Some chef on the food network has a favorite taco and it's in the menu incase customers too wanted to see what the rave is about. I got an assortment of tacos and here is my take on it. The steak and nopales (cactus) was OK but it was strips of cactus. I didn't really like this much. It should be served cut into pieces which would go better with the cilantro and onions that come w the tacos. The shrimp taco was good portions of shrimp BUT could've stand to be blackened or grilled (however they make it) a few more minutes. The shrimp definitely needed more color in comparison to its paleness. Thank goodness I didn't get sick. Unfortunately, to me all the tacos could have used more heat in temperature and one hundred percent more flavor! The chef and staff were friendly and the decor pays respect to the day of the dead and I did love that and their decor! Suggestion tho: $8 for street corn is ridiculous. Please change that to a more reasonable price. Even $6 would be more acceptable especially when corn isn't even in season. read more

When you think of authentic Mexican cuisine, you have authentic Mexican and then you have "authentic Mexican". This place is the real deal. The restaurant is the 3rd of it's kind, with locations in Perry Hall, Jessup, and now Chef Rod's newest location, Baltimore. I have personally been to all three, and I write this post sitting here in his Baltimore location. The staff was quick to greet me at the door, and show me to my table. The food came out in a timely manner, with a very kind server smiling the entire time. Quality of food: The food is above average compared to knockoff restaurants such as chipotle, and la tolteca. Tacos Al pastor is my go to, but I chose to get the taco salad this time, with steak. The meat was tender, and the entire salad was filled with flavor. When you eat, you must wash it down with something, so try a horchata. Probably the best non-alcoholic drink out there. Atmosphere: The music was playing with upbeat Hispanic music. The entire place was well kept, and clean. Chef Rod really used the open glass concept to his advantage because there is plenty of light without using a tremendous amount of indoor lighting. Price: A very large taco salad, and drink ran me around 13 dollars. In my opinion, a very generous price for the ammount you are getting. Overall impression: I have always been, and will continue to be impressed with this restaurant. All that Rodrigo has done to advance himself in the culinary field to me is nothing less than spectacular. If you are expecting a 5 star steakhouse with 5 course meals and waiters in tuxedos, this is not the place. R&R is a place of it's own and suitable for the late night dinner, or the between conference lunch. Good quality and taste is just waiting for you to come and sample. Dude. This place is in a bit over its head. I went here with my coworker to try the new place across the street where we can pick up food to-go. While the huaraches were ready in ~5-7 minutes, it took 30 minutes for an order of nachos to-go. It wasn't particularly busy, but my huarache dish was cold by the time the nachos arrived. The "nachos" aren't a pile of chips covered with all the good stuff as I had hoped. Instead, they were more like tostadas, hard corn tortillas, with some toppings. Both the "nachos" and huaraches tasted fine...but they were nothing to write home about... The dishes didn't leave us stoked to eat them again. Both dishes were exceptionally oily and awkward to eat. They also feel incredibly overpriced for the type of dish and size. The "nachos" and the huarache cost $20. For the amount of food you actually receive, I really feel like the two dish meal (huarache + "nachos") should cost $10-12 total. The cheese on the nachos was also a weird neon orange. But if that's your thing, you'll be pumped. While the staff were nice, they weren't able to answer questions on the menu or give us an explanation as to why things took so long. My mind is still boggled as to why the "Rod's nachos" took 30 minutes. Quoting Tyra Banks, "I was rooting for you. We were all rooting for you!" [cue heartbreak and disappointment; crushed dreams]. This. Place. Is. Awful. I heard terrible things before I came, but figured I would give it a shot. First impression: very weird atmosphere. No music, the outdoors channel on the TV, and booths that look like a Miami night club VIP section. Isn't this a Mexican place? Drinks: waitress was not sure what the drink specials were, but she was fairly confident they had Corona. Turns out - they only had 3 coronas left. Others at the table ordered Margaritas, including a simple "Spicy Margarita", to which the waitress replied "I don't think we have those". A simple Margarita on the rocks, with salt, would have to suffice. Well one came with no ice, and both, no salt. Off to a rocky start (minus the rocks). Chips and Salsa: tough to mess up chips, but one of the two bowls was unsalted. The Salsa tasted like mint, and had little to no spice. What the heck? The guacamole was average, and the queso tasted bad. That's the only word to describe it. Tacos: horrible. Just horrible. Hardly any seasoning, no cheese, and massively disguised under a pile of cilantro. I couldn't even recall the taste if I tried, because there was none. Quesadilla: very boring looking, possibly made with mozzarella cheese? The "sour cream" looked like mayo, perhaps it was just very old. However, the shining star of the whole experience, the consumer of the quesadilla exclaimed, "it's not bad...". Wow! Nice! Overall: 2/10 because my beer was slightly chilled. Don't give up on this place too easily. It is new and still experiencing growing pains- but mark my words- once they get the kinks worked out it is going to be excellent. I was so excited for this place to open downtown near my work as I love their location in Howard County. I have been 4 times now. And the service is pretty awful and the waits are long. Appears to be a communication problem- a lot of the staff doesn't speak English very well. This is the sign of a good Mexican place IMO. The last time I was there it seemed like efforts were being made to improve this- it seemed like they had brought one of their managers up from Howard County and he was working on training the new staff. The food has been great thus far- my favorite being the shrimp tacos. Though not as good as the Howard County location. But again, give them a little time to work out the kinks and this place will be epic. All in all have to score them where they are right now- which is a solid 3 stars. Will update my review once they get rolling as I'm sure they'll be up to 5 stars in no time flat. read more
