Food was mediocre at best and they also charge a 3% service charge if you use a card. instead of baking it in to their prices or sucking it up as a cost of doing business they tell you to bring cash. This was my first time here -- lots of parking and the inside has a decent amount of seating. When you enter you have to go down a small flight of stairs to get to the restaurant but they do have a stair lift if you can't do stairs. Décor is cool with a "construction" road sign vibe. Lots of TVs if you want to watch a game. I heard great things about the wings from different people so I've been wanting to try it. My friend and I arrived around 5:30 on a Wednesday and were seated right away. They have different specials on different days--it was flatbread and cheap draft night when we were there. Our server came over after we had a few minutes to peruse the drink menu. I ordered a cider that was on draft and my friend got a mini fish bowl peach drink that she really liked. They have a very large list of sauces to choose from--(60 sauces and 13 dry rubs). I ordered 12 wings--6 with salt & vinegar dry rub and 6 dry with a couple different sauces on the side to try (Sriracha Basil, Sweet Thai Chili and Japanese Yum Yum). The sauces on the side will cost you a few extra bucks, but no biggie. The Sriracha Basil sauce was perfectly spicy with a great flavor and was easily my fave of the three. I'm a fan of the salt & vinegar dry rub but I've had this before at other restaurants and the taste is generally the same. I wish I would've gone outside my comfort zone and tried a dry rub such as porketta or taco ranch. Next time. I did take my other half some Sweet Bourbon and Vidalia Onion (my friend recommended these). He loved the Sweet Bourbon but said the Vidalia Onion lacked flavor. Obviously it just comes down to taste preferences. Wings overall were good but I've definitely had better wings at other restaurants. Maybe people rate this place so great because of the variety of sauces? They definitely have some intriguing sauces such as "steak and potato," "pepperoni pizza," "smoky tomato bacon" "chocolate bacon" and a ton more which makes me want to visit again to try the different flavors. From what I've sampled, the sauces are great! My side of garlic parm fries were really good! They also offer healthy eating choices--two kinds of salads and the option to order a turkey burger with or without the bun. They also offer a side of veggies in lieu of fries for only $1 extra. This bar and grill is in my old neighborhood. I've gone there most times I am back in town. However yesterdays experience was worth sharing. My wife (not from the area) has been dealing with a pretty restrictive set of food allergies for the last 2 years. This has caused our "going out to dinner" to be very limited, as it really is a hassle, and it feels bothersome to the waitstaffs (even if it isn't, I feel like I am being very picky). Anyway, yesterdays drive into town took much longer than expected due to traffic and a car issue, we needed to get dinner, a drink, and to decompress the stress that had all of us edgy. So we took a party of 4 to the RBar... 3 of us ordered, and then came my wife's order, the waitress (sorry I forgot the name and don't have the receipt) knew the menu very well, was able to answer most of her questions, and verified with the kitchen on the ones she couldn't answer. She was friendly and patient, and did not make us feel "picky" for asking these questions. After a while, she came out and regretfully explained a problem in the kitchen, which delayed our order, and the owner insisted on a complimentary beverage for the delay. The kitchen staff went above and beyond to ensure there was no cross contamination with other "non safe" foods for my wife. When the meals arrived they were very good, and the portions had three of us supplied with lunch for the next day. To the R Bar staff, a big THANK YOU for making a very stressful day better. Your customer service was on point. I always look forward to my trips back home, and knowing the service you gave us last night we can look forward to going out to dinner again. read more

We were really looking forward to this place after reading several reviews. We got 3 different types of wings and a "Sicilian" pizza. We got the order to go and only live about 15 minutes away. The wings were ordered extra crispy which it even said that on the receipts which were attached. Our wings were chewy and each of the sauces... one of the sauces was allegedly a local favorite it reminded us of white wash and tasted like that. The pizza, it was a thin lifeless baked pizza no where close to what Sicilian is especially in an area that has so many other great pizza options. First visit since the latest remodeling. Always been pleased with the food and service, However my view and experience has changed drastically. Visited the place with my wife on Saturday, June 26, 2024. My wife ordered baked haddock which she liked. I ordered a soft pretzel encrusted with crab meat. It tasted like it was warmed in a microwave instead of being baked. If you have ever tasted bread done in a microwave. It was horrible. The waitress offered to take it back and have it done properly. I refused! To me if it is not done properly the first time I do not send it back because I have heard horror stories that is sent back even in good restaurants. Then to add insult to my visit, the waitress took her time to give us the bill then she disappeared for 20 minutes to pick it up. I then even tipped but honestly I should have not. This is not the first time even at other places. Service sucks since Covid. I will not be visiting the R Bar soon again. Hopefully they get a better cook and train their waitress' better. I always say that even if the food is so-so, the experience can be made so much better by a good server. We called ahead to make a reservation since it was a Friday evening. During our last visit, the server was ok, but it felt like we were a bother, even though we didn't ask for much. We went to have dinner and some beer. We were impressed by their selection at prior visits and like to try different things. There was no beer list offered and nothing to scan to pull up a list on our phones. So we had to ask. We were only told the brewery name for each beer and not what it actually was. I was going to order a flight, but then I'd have to ask what the choices were again and the server seemed annoyed. So I opted against that. We ended up not liking any of the beer we had. For food we had 6 wings, the pickle lovers burger and a grilled cheese. Both with fries. The food took a good 35 minutes to come out. My boyfriend really enjoyed the wings and burger. This is definitely not a place we'd become regulars at. read more

Easily the top wing place in NEPA. I've personally been to a majority of wing places that are commonly talked about in the area, and in California and Washington, this one easily takes the cake. The wings and the total combinations of flavors and sauces, plus the other menu options are rivaled by no other place I've been to or reviewed. Don't let the location fool you! The food is awesome! The staff were super friendly! One staff member welcomed my wife and I get seated upon walking from break or maybe the start of her shift. We were seated and waited on right from the parking lot. Our waitress was told us the specials, gave us ample time to peruse the menu and gave us some solid recommendations. I had 6 hot barbecue wings as an app. They were fantastic. I had the baconator burger. Good lord it was awesome. We had pickle chips and my wife had the crab cakes. Definitely going back! read more

VERY disappointed in the wings. We were super excited to go there last night to pick up our (extremely expensive - 30 wings for 22 dollars) Wings. I heard so many good things that I figured it had to be good. I got home and the Mild wings were so TINY. Smaller than a Dominoes wing.. We arrived around 4:15pm and were quickly seated. Less than a minute later our waitress arrived, took our drink order explained the special then went to get our drinks. Several minutes later she returned with our cold beers and asked for our order. With over 70 types of sauces the selection process was daunting! We were at a loss other than knowing we wanted some spicy, non spicy wings and 30 of them. (Luckily you can order more than one type). Unable to decide we asked her which was her favorite spicy sauce and she suggested Jalapeño Ranch or was it Ranch Jalapeño? Whatever. In addition we ordered the nightly special sauce, some type of BBQ with brown sugar. Sorry I can't remember. Anyway both were Fantastic! Seriously! Since my bro and I we're hankering for som serious burn and found the Jalapeño Ranch to be not remotely spicy enough we asked our waitress for something spicer. She returned with a cup of this red sauce concoction that was just fabulous!! Dipping our wings in this delicious fire sauce made the wings even better and yet we were still not satisfied. So we requested a cup of their hottest sauce, which by the way contains the dreaded Ghost Chili. As we gobbled down several wings each, dipping our wings in this brown death sauce, my bro and I both remarking, "it could be hotter". You know there's a funny thing about ghost chili, it doesn't hit you right away, rather it sneaks up on you. Soon everything it comes in contact with goes from warm to eye tearing to lost my voice oh Jesus please stop the burning and I'll never eat it again hot. Which is exactly what we were after! Not only was this sauce punishing it also had great flavor! And that's hard to do! FYI: this place filled up quick!!! We arrived 15 minutes after it opened and it was already half full! Stopped in on a Saturday afternoon. Wasn't sure if should go upstairs or down so went downstairs. Walk into bar with high tops. Have a choice if eating there or up a few steps to their dining room in back. Was pleased with all the menu choices. After reading others reviews, we decided on 6 papa (smoky blue cheese) and 6 sweet chili blue cheese wings and an order of Jersey fries ( fries with the skin on). Our waitress, Lindsey, is one of the owners and couldn't be nicer or more helpful. Wings and fries came out within minutes. Everything was super hot and fresh. The Papa wings were our favorite! That smoky blue cheese flavor was excellent. We really like the sweet chili blue cheese too. They had a little bite but the blue cheese mellowed it. Loved the fries too. There is so much more on the menu to try so we will definitely be back! After speaking with Lindsey we learned the room upstairs is their banquet room for parties, showers, special events, etc. plenty of parking in the lot right across from the restaurant. They even have a lift chair to take you up/down the few steps when you walk in. Restaurant and restrooms are clean. This is a hidden gem of n Nanticoke and worth the drive! read more

This was a fun place to stop and try some unique wing flavors. The wings themselves were fresh, a good size, and crispy. Bleu cheese and celery were adequate. Service was prompt, attentive and friendly. The atmosphere was fun with a touch of roadside biker bar, but certainly family friendly. The beer selection was a tad limited, but adequate, with a few craft brews and Guinness on draft. The place is known for its unique and plentiful offering of wing sauces. The prices were comparable to other local restaurants. I tried about 6 different sauces, with the bleu cheese curry and Old Bay Sriracha Ranch as the standouts. The bartenders were great at describing the sauces and offering suggestions. The only constructive "criticism" I really have is that some of the sauces were too thick and layered on too heavy. Now, I tend to like a lot of sauce, but many of their sauces are thick...like mayonnaise consistency...and they really glopped a lot on the wings. I think the wings would actually be better if they were tossed in a smaller amount of sauce. With the thickness of the sauce, I probably ate less than I normally could have, and didn't polish of the bleu cheese. Also, their traditional sauce, the pub sauce, could've used a bit more heat for those wanting a traditional order of wings. Overall though, a nice place with good wings. Simply delicious food and some great specials! Wings are always a great option because they have well over 50 sauces and dry rubs. (Ranch BLT is my personal favorite.) Burgers are large and yummy. Fries and ranch chips are also tasty, and they add a nice touch to any sandwich. We prefer to sit at the tall bar tables, but large groups will fit in the dining room. Alcoholic Drinks truly depend on who makes them. Mixed drink prices can be steep, so sometimes they are not worth the price. Service is also unpredictable. Drinks and service can be hit or miss, which are really the only disappointments we've faced here. Food is consistently good. read more

Apple sangria was a HUGE hit with our crowd. 4 out of the 5 of us went with the create your own cheese steak. You get to pick your own toppings and cheese so it's made just the way you like it. The Iron Cowboy hamburger was a good for the rest of our party except it needs Bbq sauce or just an extra something to take it from good to great. And, they didn't have any of the beers that I tried to order so hence the four star rating. The service was excellent! We were taken care of by Briana, she did a great job and she was delightful.
