I recently moved to the west New York area and was in need of a good hairdresser. I have a long frequented a salon in Montclair but that's too far to drive now so I found the salon on yelp actually. Made an appointment with Farrah to get color, highlights and a haircut/blowout. As you know it can be pretty scary to go with a new hairdresser when you had the same person for so long because a girl doesn't need her 'do To look crazy. Farrah was awesome, she took so much time and asked me many questions about my hair and what I had previously done to it etc. My hair looks amazing and I couldn't be happier. Tommy, the owner of the salon is lovely, as well and so were all the other people that were working in there. Everyone smiles and greets you. It's really nice and comfortable inside. I've even sent my daughter who needed some color correction done, to Farrah the next week and she is super pleased as well. I had a Keratin treatment done on June 30th by Tommy, the salon's owner. It was the absolute best! He took his time and still I was done in under two hours even though my hair is quite long. My hair feels wonderful and it doesn't frizz even on the beach. I also purchased RSalon shampoo which smells very nice and is good for after keratin. Before washing, we had a quick consultation. And now I feel great and I look a heck of a lot better than I did going in! :) She did a lovely job with my hair. The color is beautiful (shade 8 and 9 blended), the hair cut makes my hair look very healthy and the blowout is lovely too. - The salon was clean, the people were pleasant, there were plexiglas dividers between the hair stylists for maximum safety. I would like to give this place 2 stars but it wouldn't be fair considering the hairstyle I have now. I called in late and asked for a 5:30pm apt for which I was confirmed and then they called and asked if I could come in earlier and I said I would try. I get another call if I could come in tomorrow and I said I couldn't and they asked I fi could make it by 5 and I said I get done with work at 5 and would leave then. This didn't seem to be an issue and I actually left at 4:50pm to make it on there in time. I got there by 5:20 and it seemed lik my stylist was not pleased at all and she made it a point to tell me this and she was sighing and telling me how she doesn't take any appts after 5pm and I told her I even got out early from work but traffic was just bad. So now my haircut: I inform my stylist I need something modern and something that would work with my hair curly or straight and I didn't wanna go too short either and she listens to all I have to say and asks me so how do you want it cut? Hmmm if I was the stylist I would know but im nt! and that's why I'm hre in the first place! And then I show her a pic what I used to hav before which I really liked but I didn't want the same style and guess what she gives the exact same haircut but a little longer. I was soo disappointed but I didn't wana show her that so I just said thanks and left. I also left her a good enuf tip because she did end up being nicer later and did try to make the style as best as she could and that's the only reason I give it 1 stars. There is on site parking , a nice waiting area as well as snacks if you have to wait a couple of minutes. Inalvis has been cutting my hair since I moved into the area . She is very professional and friendly. She will listen to your needs and give you honest feedback as to what can and can't be done. She will not try and sell you services you don't need or want. Like any other woman (or man), I'm on a relentless journey to find the perfect hair stylist (or barber) that I can continually come to, grow old with and be at ease knowing they won't murder my hair and leave me looking like a hairless cat (Sphynx). R Salon gets 3 stars for their skills and 5 stars for their customer service. My hair is relatively easy to manage, cut and style (except for corn rows which I've had done years ago--don't judge me). I asked Tommy (owner) to give me an edgy look and we talked for a few minutes to see what was best. He said he would have to chop off a good portion of my hair to make it edgy but any good stylist should be able to work with whatever they're given and make it look nice, no? The cut came out good but I had to ask him to re-do my bangs a few times which he did without hesitation. Tommy also mentioned that I could come back to get my bangs trimmed at no charge. The total cost was $72 - $60 for cut/wash, $10 cutting tip, $2 washing tip. One important thing to note, they treated me very, very well and it's hard to find good customer service now a days.
