NEVER GET YOUR HAIR DONE HERE WITH THE OWNER J. she is doing nonsense customer service. She totally ruined my hair cut and perm but did not even apology or refund. She insisted she did the right thing and saying that no problem of the result even though I'm not happy with it. I wanted hair done like grey hair model. But she cut my hair front bluntly and it's not even connected to the back hair smoothly and cut it too short both side. It looks so weird infront especially. Needless to say, the perm is almost loosen. paid for this $300. So absurd. See attached pictures. The pictures were taken on the day of my hair done. AWEFUL. If you don't want to mess up your hair do not go this place.

Best salon I've ever been to! I'm usually very picky when it comes to my hair but I wanted to try something new - Jen recommended I try out an ombré and it came out absolutely perfect! 10/10 would recommend and I will definitely be going back!

Decided on a whim to try this new salon and didn't ask for anyone in particular. Normally I go into the city because I'm pretty picky with my hair and am willing to make the trip for stylists that are up to date with hair trends and modern cuts..but because of covid I wanted to stay close by. I wanted curtain bangs and layers and literally just showed the stylist a picture of a "trendy Korean layered haircut" I saw online. I'm soo happy with it and was more surprised that the cut, wash, and styling was only $40. Jason was my stylist and he was super sweet and spoke in English to me which I appreciate lol and he did such a good job at fixing my botched self-cut hair that I did during quarantine. Super happy and will most definitely be going back! According to his card I think Jason is only in on Wednesdays or Sundays? I'd call to ask.

Also, their technique when bleaching hair left strands so uneven. I didn't even notice the unevenness of my hair until I had gotten home. I had to go to a Akane the next day to get it redone because it was that bad. I called Jackie to try to get somewhat of a refund because I had to redo the whole dying process, but they said they would only give me $60... Pretty upset with my whole experience here, wouldn't recommend Edit: 9/13/2020 - I went back to get my refund... for half of the price I paid which comes out to 125... he said he would 80 and proceeded to tell me that no one looks at the inside of my hair so why does it matter that it looks like that... I am furious... I turned into a Karen for a good minute.... so mad... do not see Timmy...he gave me an attitude and said I was unbelievable for asking for a refund for half the cost I paid for when I had to go to another salon and pay 280 to get my hair redone correctly..... so mad....DO NOT COME HERE I REPEAT

So I decided I wanted to switch it up by getting it straightened and cut (about 5 inches). Honestly, I took a leap of faith by trying someplace new because yelp reviewers rated this place high and because of their $150 straighten/treatment/haircut price. I'm glad I did. :) I called the day of to make an appointment for that same evening and was able to book an appointment for 4pm. They said it would take about 4 hours. I finished at 7:10pm (3 hrs 10mins). The girl who did my hair took the time to explain to me the process and why she was doing what she was...making me feel more at ease (This is my first time getting magic straight). Since my hair was long I was a bit nervous chopping off so much because I tend to feel that my face width looks a bit boxier. I asked for her to cut up to my collar bone with a very very slight bob angle from the back to the front so from the side view it doesn't look like one straight horizontal line. She could tell I was unsure so she cut a little longer than my collarbone and we worked out way up from there. I was so happy she did this because I always regret it when they chop so much all at once. The entire process was wash, cut, straighten chemical in hair, wash, dry, straighten out with iron, cut, put another chemical in hair, wash, put in treatment, treatment drying, straighten iron, and final cut. Only thing I'd improve about this place is maybe their music. (Only cuz music is so important to me.) Otherwise, the place is clean, there's parking in the back, friendly stylist, and a good price! I'll see how it looks in a week and update my post. As of now I'll definitely be coming back! :D

I received a text the day before my appointment that asked if I had any recent symptoms consistent with coronavirus/if anyone in my household had symptoms. Additionally I was provided with instructions on the salon protocol. On calling the salon, I was instructed that I could enter, I was asked to sanitize my hands, and had my temperature checked. The salon is using disposable gowns and is limiting hairdrying inside the salon, therefore you're asked to show up having washed your own hair. The appointment was quick and everyone wore masks/maintained social distancing inside. The haircut is wonderful (only $65, cheaper than what I've paid for comparable haircuts in the past) and I could not have felt more comfortable with the experience. The location has plenty of parking in the parking lot behind the salon. Excuse the appearance of the area near the salon as there was a fire in a restaurant next door. I highly recommend this salon, they are going above and beyond to make sure their clients are safe.

Seeing my hesitation, I was told that if I did a perm haircut is free. If just color, there is a separate charge. Then the opinion kept changing on whether I needed straightening perm on top of that. I felt manipulated and uneasy. The color did not come out as I wanted - overall this experience was not great and I will never be coming back here again. Her side: Checking out the reviews, I booked my last-minute appointment on a Friday afternoon since they were available. Gloria was my hairstylist for the appointment. I showed her my inspiration and asked her if she can achieve this look. I also told her that my hair is permanently black because I was turned away by a few local spots in the area. She said she can achieve the color without a problem. I sat there for a good 4 hours, but something didn't look right.  She started to bleach my roots after 4 hours in. Went for a wash, and that's when I noticed my hair did not look the way I wanted... Not only did my roots look orange, but my whole hair was not EVEN. Also, the lighting in the store is so dark you can't really tell until you get home. I did tell her we needed to fix this, but the store was about to close so she asked if I could come in next week. I wanted to get it fixed asap so I asked if I could come in next morning. This was my inspiration: ( 1st image with blue scribble on the eyes) First visit: (Gloria let her walk out the salon WITH THIS COLOR -WTF SHADE IS THAT) **photos are added for reference I texted her that I did not like my hair, and had the audacity to tell me to come in a week later and come in for the THIRD TIME. I thought about it, but she didn't respect my time and I did not want to go back to this salon at all. I preferred to get a refund and go back to my go-to hair salon (in the city) to get it fixed. While I mentioned this never happened to me, she goes "this is my first problem too." Next few days, I texted her again and showed her how my hair is different from top to bottom...I asked her if it is okay if I can just get a refund and she refused to give me my refund. The part I was most annoyed with the most when she said she'll return half and wouldn't give me the other half because I used her products LOL. She said it's not "fair" when I asked for a refund. You are the store owner and need to satisfy your customers? I never experienced such poor customer service and management in my life. In the end, I still didn't get a refund or a full apology. Please do yourself a favor and take your $300 elsewhere. They do not know how to color your hair at all. Never going back ever again. **WHO LET'S THEIR CLIENT LEAVE LOOKING LIKE THAT. I bet your ass the people leaving 5 star reviews are all the workers. GET YOUR SHIT TOGETHER, I'VE WARNED EVERYONE TO STAY AWAY.

On the morning of my appointment, I realized I never received a text confirmation, so I called to double check. Unfortunately, I was told that my appointment details had never been saved. They did offer an opening later at 2:00 PM, which I accepted, though coming from NYC it was inconvenient and required rearranging my afternoon plans. When I arrived, the stylist was very friendly, but there was another mix up, he believed I was only scheduled for a cut, not a perm. While he was able to fit just the perm in, I think the time constraints led to a much looser perm, used larger and less rods than what I had requested. I specifically asked for a tighter style, similar to what I usually get. Afterward, I honestly don't see much of a difference between my hair before and after the perm, which is disappointing. I do believe they gave me a discounted rate, but the repeated miscommunication made the experience frustrating and the end product wasn't really what I wanted. It felt like a waste of both time and money, and I'll now need to have it redone elsewhere.

Being from Los Angeles, I…read moretried different barbers around Manhattan and Fort Lee area after moving here and couldn't find anyone that could do it like the Los Angeles folks (at ssooniestyle, shout out to them and Ray) until I came here. Yusa was the one to cut my hair and I plan to go to him only for my hair needs moving forward. I actually came in with many things I wanted to fix in my hair. Not only did Yusa patiently listen to all of my requests, he even spent extra time to examine my hair type and head shape and explained his thought process as he cut my hair. By the end of the haircut, not only did I receive an excellent haircut for a very fair price, but Yusa also gave me a ton of advice regarding how I should maintain and style my hair. Cherry on top, he's also super friendly, interesting and a great conversationalist. In terms of service, scheduling an appointment by phone is simple and quick, but the stylists here are understandably busy and have packed schedules. I would suggest scheduling ahead of time and mentally preparing to be placed on a wait list. Otherwise, finding the salon was easy and the interior is clean and pleasant to be in. Overall, I would highly recommend this spot, especially if you're looking to get a trendy and modern Asian male hairstyle for a fair price compared to places in Manhattan.

TL;DR: Lowlights rock…read more I had been to Jackie's years ago when I used to travel more frequently to the northeast. This time I had some downtime and swung by for a trim. She asked whether I want to try something different and suggested lowlights - I had never heard of the term but figured they're like highlights, just less obvious. The first and last time I had had toned down my hair (highlights, actually) was 22 years ago, but the AI photo apps had all suggested recently that I go blonde, so I thought this may be a first step in that direction. She said how long it takes depends on the individual's hair but should take no more than an hour, and I was intrigued. I can do an hour. I told her I really don't want that overbleached, orangish yellow color, and she was on the same page. We were going to aim for a light brown, but that could mean any number of things, right? It came out a copper-bronze that adds just a touch of light around my face. The color looks more obvious in certain angles depending on how my hair is tousled or parted, and I love how it shows up more prominently in the under-layers of my hair and when I put it up in a bun! This is a result of her gathering my hair, then taking some away in a zigzag before bleaching what remained in hand. I really like that she made the bleached hair blend with my natural hair. Btw, she's pretty opinionated and has a lot of comments, but knows her stuff. If you've ever been scared about toning down your hair color, give lowlights a try! It's very affordable here even with the wash and cut afterward. I was here a total of 1:30 including my wash and cut, during which three people walked in. She had to turn them away since she was doing my hair; one person came back at a time she had told him. Glad to see that it's a happening place but that she takes walk-ins like I did :D
