This was slightly confusing upon our arrival, but we figured it out. Upon our arrival (those of us who are on time), were greeted by Amber! She caught onto our family banter quickly and went through the Do's & Don'ts. There were 50 of us, so we certainly needed this. The Lodge is spacious and multiple beautiful views. I watched the sunrise over the mountains on the spa balcony every morning. A great way to prepare yourself for the chaos of a family reunion, and just Be for a moment! The Lodge had plenty of space for eating together, games and we even put on a talent show! The game room and dining area were the most used. We had ages from 4-months to old AF, and everyone enjoyed themselves. The Lodge is in close proximity to Purgatory, Bears Ranch (horseback riding), trails, water leisure, and a local bar, The Nugget. The room has AC and a ceiling fan (double bonus), ear plugs, fresh flowers, local coffee, and other amenities such as dishes, soap, makeup remover wipes, an iron and ironing board, cold water in the fridge. I have never stayed at a place that felt so homely. The bed was comfy and thank goodness there was no down comforter- I get so hot with those no matter the temp. They also own a restaurant and bar next door- such a convenience! My mom and I enjoyed some cold brew and beers outside while waiting for our check in time. Hands down, the best place I've stayed! A few things to note: there is no room service (at least during our stay), the front desk closes at 9p - like most of the town, the vanity is a little dim for makeup and there are no vending machines or any way to buy drinks or snacks at the hotel. There is also a $12 parking fee per day that was not listed when we made the reservation. Overall, it was an excellent choice! Looking forward to our next stay.

We got the Homebody room, which had a king size bedroom, and a full-size pull out coach in the living room. Also a kitchen with all the utensils you'd need. The look of the apartment was definitely eclectic - bright shades of yellow and pink splashed across the walls. Plus, a polka dot bathroom. The decor was fun too. An old school radio, suitcase, and telephone were among the many items on the shelves. These rooms certainly aren't anything fancy, but everything was clean and tidy. It's nice that check in is contactless. You simply get a set of directions emailed to you once you book letting you know the code to get in. Parking is limited but they do give you a parking pass so you're all set. Also great is its location. Truly the center of downtown, within walking distance to all the shops, bars, restaurants, and coffee joints you could need. The one bummer was a leaking ceiling in our unit's bathroom. Hopefully they get that sorted ASAP because it was quite bad. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to travelers passing through!

The manager said it's upon request but we heard them offer a couple ahead of us that service so assumed it was included. We had one hand towel and one washcloth in our room. When I request more at the front desk I was told they were all in the laundry. Pool is very cold 70s and hot tub is gross. "Breakfast" includes lots of junk like pop tarts and packaged mini muffins. For the price, I'd go elsewhere.

Also, it's a historical hotel that was built in 1898 and so it has a really incredible charm to it. The seating for breakfast and the lobby area are really beautiful. The thing to know: it is right next to the train station in Durango. So if you want to take the amazing train ride (and you should!) you can just walk right next to it and you have your free parking with the hotel room, which is awesome. BUT this also means that you hear the train constantly. It is very loud multiple times a day, early in the morning and in the evening. So just keep this in mind when you book this hotel. The breakfast: the breakfast the day we were there had eggs (watery scrambled) and sausage links and a waffle maker and toast and oatmeal and cereal and yogurt. All of it was the typical continental American breakfast. I really enjoyed the sausage links and the toast. The oatmeal was meh. The coffee was not good at all, but I did drink it haha. If you have time, go to the Durango coffee Company instead. They also have an assortment of teas and hot water. I would give the breakfast a 2-3/5. It seems like they could easily upgrade this breakfast and make it something really worth going to for the price of the hotel.
