I recently stopped by Ra Coffee Company in Goose Creek and wanted to share our experience. One thing I always appreciate right off the bat is that they offer an outdoor patio that's pet-friendly -- huge bonus for anyone who likes to bring their pup along for coffee runs. This visit was a drive-thru order for us. They did let us know they were pretty busy, which is totally understandable, but I will say the wait was a bit on the longer side before we got our drinks. As for the coffee itself -- my husband ordered a decaf latte with tiramisu syrup, and unfortunately the flavor fell a little flat. He mentioned it tasted very weak overall, and the tiramisu didn't really come through at all. I ordered a decaf latte with cookie dough syrup. Mine was decent -- the coffee itself tasted good -- but similar to his, the syrup flavor didn't quite match what I expected. It didn't really give that cookie-dough taste, just a light sweetness. Price-wise, it came to just under $15 for one medium decaf latte and one large decaf latte with syrups, which feels pretty fair for specialty coffee drinks. Overall, not a bad stop -- especially if you're looking for a pet-friendly coffee spot with a patio -- but I do wish the flavored syrups had been a bit stronger and more true to taste. I'd be open to trying them again and exploring other flavors on the menu. read more

The staff at Ra Coffee Company were sweet and welcoming. I ordered their matcha latte, and it was satisfying; kept me alert throughout the day. They also have delicious pastries, and I recommend their red velvet cinnamon roll. I liked their indoor seating area, where I got some work done; the noise level was decent and not distracting. My only feedback is that the drive thru could be managed better. A barista was attending to us at one point at the drive thru window and later forgot us... None have really knocked my socks off, but none have been so bad that I've just thrown them out either (which I have done at some other places, unfortunately). They always have creativity to their drinks, which I appreciate. The service is pretty good. I usually encounter nice baristas. The inside of the shop, I don't love. It always smells weird and feels a bit old and the decor is lacking so I don't usually sit at one of the inside chairs/tables. I prefer the drive-through because of that. They do have a few tables for outdoor seating but it is on a busy street. The pricing is on par with most of the shops around it seems. Absolutely loved this little coffee shop! They had some interesting latte flavors. I ended up getting the spicy peach! The barista asked how I liked it and let me know she can make another one for me if I didn't like it. Everyone was so friendly! At first, I wasn't going to get any thing to eat, but she mentioned a blueberry lemon roll. I'm not sure if she said cinnamon roll, but I remember her saying roll. That was interesting to me because I had never heard of that. So of course I had to try! It was super delicious! Even though it looks like there's a lot of frosting on the top, it really wasn't too sweet. And the blueberry and bread - kind of hard to explain, but it was delicious and really big. These are the prices I expect to see at a coffee shop! Sandwiches in the $6 range are entirely reasonable. I just had a 20 oz salted caramel hot latte, I did not try the food, though I was tempted. Latte was smooth and creamy, and in a middle ground on the sweetness. Service was quick and friendly. There is outdoor seating and indoor, which is unfortunately where I dinged a star. The outdoor seating has no umbrellas or shade and is right on a busy road, no relaxing or work happening there. Inside is extremely cramped. Little high top two person tables, no outlets that I saw, uncomfortable chairs. There is a small bar with outlets but most of them seem to have some sort of sensor or alarm plugged into them? And it is extremely noisy inside. This just isn't a relaxing place, a place to do work, etc. Even to that with a friend I would need to half shout at them and again, it's cramped and the chairs are not comfortable at all. But given the size of the location, I don't know how they fix this without getting rid of the kitchen. If you plan on trying Ra Coffee in Goose Creek plan on sitting awhile in the drive through lane. They do not have a drive speaker set up like most drive through restaurants or coffee shops. You order when you get to the window. The staff is friendly. The last time I visited this coffee shop, there was one car in front of me. I watched the employee hand the customer their order. Then proceeded to have another 10 minute conversation with that customer. It is great that the staff is friendly. But when you have customers waiting. The coffee is good. They have a nice variety of bagels to choose from when they are in stocked. I was handed a list of bagels they had and was told that the ones that were check off were the ones they had. I visited this place with my wife early and thought the entire experience was fantastic. We both ordered coffees and breakfast sandwiches. I loved how they had a ton of options for coffee flavors including quite a few sugar free choices. The build your own breakfast sandwich also had a lot of options but the one suggestion I would add is include American cheese. Nothing beats it on a bacon, egg, and cheese IMO. While we were eating the staff was very friendly and engaged us in a few conversations about our day. Also, while sitting there I looked up one of the drinks on their "July specials" list and my wife and I were talking about it. Well I guess an order got messed up so they gave us a free sample of the drink we were just talking about! It was the London Fog and it was really good. Lastly, this place feels like the mom and pops places my dad used to frequent when I was a kid so it instantly got the nostalgia flowing for me. I loved it. TLDR: after many years of loving Ra, the owner was insulting and argumentative for no reason, both in person and over Instagram. Drive a few more minutes to LoDi, Bald Monkey, or Brew Hanahan. I've frequented Ra since moving to the area 3 years ago. I've raved about them to neighbors and to visitors alike, but I will not be going back after yesterday. I arrived just before 930am. It took almost 20 minutes in the drive-thru before it was my turn (only four cars ahead of me). I ordered two pup cups, two decaf lattes, a peach cinnamon bun, and a BEC on an english muffin. With a tip, this was almost $32. The woman at the window gave me everything except the sandwich and asked me to pull ahead to wait a few minutes for them to run it out to me. I did as I was told. A few minutes later, another car joined me in wait. I got distracted by my podcast and social media but heard the car behind me get their *three* breakfast sandwiches before my one was ready. I asked the runner how much longer for mine, and she responded that she was running in to get it. After 5 minutes, I looked back at my phone and realized I had been waiting over 25 minutes for a breakfast sandwich, meaning I had been there for over 45 minutes at this point in total. I went inside and waited as the only person in line finished her order, and then asked the cashier if he could check on my order. We were both calm and pleasant. I figured the sandwich had accidentally been put to the side. He asked the kitchen if my order was ready and the owner snapped at him/me, asking what I ordered and when. He noted that it was the other cashier who had taken my order. The owner then snapped at me from across the room to be patient and they're busy today. I said I had been waiting for over 25 minutes and had been there almost an hour at that point. He then yelled at the staff that they had lost my ticket. I was shocked that anyone would yell at their staff at all, nonetheless in front of many customers, and that they would yell at a customer who had been patiently waiting. He said they would start a new one for me, but I was already late because of this wait and couldn't wait longer. He yelled at me again to be patient and I said I couldn't wait, I'm sorry. He then shoved $25 at me and told me he was refunding my order and he was sure that was more than enough. When I got home, I realized one of the lattes was not noted as decaf, even though I had read the order out loud twice and she had repeated back to me multiple times that it was to be decaf. I sent the owners a message on Instagram, relaying the same information as above. The response I received from the owner was full of gaslighting and excuses - oh the Easter Bunny was coming (the bunny was actually already there) and they were missing 2 staff members, long lines, they were busy but not overwhelmed, lost tickets happen, I made it clear that I couldn't wait another 5 minutes for them to make the sandwich, he didn't "throw" money at me but provided it "in haste", etc. He even noted in his response that I had been posting positive content about their company for 2.5 years -- as if ANY of those things excused this treatment. There was one person in line ahead of me and four cars in the drive-thru. That is not busy. They had a full kitchen, so it wasn't like missing two people meant only one person was working. I responded that if he had spoken to me in a normal manner, apologizing for the delay, offering a refund of that item or offering a premade item, I wouldn't have been upset. But to not notice a car is waiting in the pickup spot for almost 30 minutes, to yell at staff and a customer, to approach a situation at a 10 escalation instead of a 1, all of these are bad business practices. He said again that he had "overrefunded" me - I never asked for him to shove $25 at me but I had spent more than $25 during that visit. It was insulting to be embarrassed in front of staff and customers when I was just trying to get an item I had purchased and it was insulting to be gaslit via Instagram message by the person who thinks this is acceptable behavior. It doesn't matter to me how delicious their coffee is or how much I love their breakfast offerings - I will not support a business run by this type of person. Especially when there are multiple other wonderful coffee shops within minutes. read more

It's funny that the building looks much bigger on the outside. The decor looks a little worn but I know this place is usually busy so I get it. For coffee I got just a drip decaf and my mom got a small soy latte with caramel. For desserts, they were extremely limited so I got a pecan cake that tasted like pound cake and was stale. It had clearly been In the case a few days. My mom got a lemon poppy muffin, which was dry too, but had a nice flavor. I was hoping to try some of the desserts people raved about and to be able to sit there and eat, but there just wasn't enough room. My mom completed her two COVID vaccines but I haven't and the close quarters were worrisome. There was an outdoor area but very little shade and it was 80 degrees, so drinking hot coffee in the sun didn't appeal. On the way home we tasted our coffees. Mine has a nutty background note but was super watery. My mom's tasted like a flavored steamer and coffee flavor was undetectable. It also wasn't hot. RA Coffee Company has been on my list of places to visit for a while, and when my husband started a keto diet, I finally made it to Goose Creek. This shop has several keto desserts called "fat bombs", the occasional super-low-carb cheesecake or cookie, and a large selection of sugar-free syrups and sauces for coffee. This is great for folks who watch sugar intake. I got a skinny mocha for myself, and it was the best skinny mocha I've had. The barista even asked me to taste my coffee to make sure it was good before I left. This is mostly a to-go spot, and the double-drive through makes getting your coffee quick and convenient. Prices are very reasonable. All of the five-star reviews for RA Coffee Company are spot-on, especially in an area like Goose Creek that doesn't have a ton of locally-owned coffee shops. This is NOT YOUR ORDINARY COFFEE SHOP!! I am so grateful that they are here in Goose Creek, SC. RA Coffee Company offers many different options of Coffees and beverages and food stuffs. They are conveniently located on Rt. 52, highly visible, and easily accessible from the highway. The Pastries are baked fresh in house daily from scratch with the freshest and best ingredients. My favorites so far are the Soft and Chew chocolate chip cookies, the German Pear Apple cake with the cinnamon drizzle on top, and the Lemon Cake with an absolutely wonderful glaze. It was my first visit so Matt suggested a few of the local favorites. I drove by here a few times on errands in Goose Creek and decided to stop in. They have two drive thru windows which helps traffic flow in the morning. When I arrived, I was the only car so I had no issues. I was given a menu to look at, right in my car, versus trying to read the tv board. The lady at the window was very helpful in answering all of my questions. I ordered a sugar free hazelnut skim milk latte. They offer different temperature options, which was nice. They made it regular temperature, which means drinkable right away, so they had me try it before I left to make sure it tasted ok. It was delicious! The keto coconut cake was okay. Not the best, but just okay. A cheap enough option for those doing keto on the go. I will certainly be back for more coffee and to try some of the other yummy treats. read more

We have needed a decent coffee shop in Goose Creek for quite some time. My friend has been raving about this place, and since I had to be up and out early for a fasting blood draw, I seized the opportunity to check it out on my way home. I am so glad I did! The space is snug, with bar seating as well as a couple of tables. I walked in and was warmly greeted at the check-in/out counter, and told to order there when I was ready. I scooched past the table to see the menu, which is simple but has a bit of everything. I ran a coffee shop years ago but saw an item I didn't recognize: cortado. I asked the girl at the counter what that was and she said it is a Cuban coffee drink, espresso with just enough milk to cut the acid. Sounded perfect. I was hungry too, and as I am always craving a bagel I ordered a breakfast sandwich on one of their touted NY bagels. The coffee was fantastic, smooth and rich and just what the Dr. ordered. The bagel was not as "everything" as I am used to, but that was fine because I often end up with seeds all over my hands, shirt, and teeth when eating an everything bagel, and this was much less of a mess. I noted sesame seeds but no poppy seeds. It was soft and fresh, not toothy and chewy like many bagels. The subtle flavors of the ham, egg, and Cheddar combined into a very mild, soothing breakfast sandwich, which was a nice way to start the day. Everything was freshly prepared and service was super-fast. The counter girl was genuinely interested to know how I liked the coffee, and I let her know I liked it very much. Cortado may be my new favorite coffee drink! And RA may be my new favorite coffee shop. It's definitely my closest coffee shop, so I will be back for sure! read more

I'm pretty simple with my coffees. My go to order is a iced hazelnut latte w/ oat milk. And my drinks have always come out with the perfect ratio of coffee flavors meshing so well with the hazelnut and oat milk. And if you get there early enough you can snag one of their fresh baked goods right out the oven. One size fits all, but for sure sharable. Horrible experience today at the NWS location. I do not usually go as it is horribly over priced for what you get and honestly not that good but I was desperate having forgot my food at home today. Waited for over 10 minutes just to order. Yes they were busy and I did not mind having to wait. What I did mind was being told right as it was my turn to order(mind you only had 5 minutes left on my break) was that I could only order a drink or what was already prepared but that they would not prepare a hot sandwich as they were going on break. Mind you they had seen me waiting and did not care. I was not happy nor were the other 2 people who had also been waiting patiently only to be told this. We all walked away after letting them know this was not appreciated to which we were just shrugged at. Lesson learned again. Should have known better. First time coming here and will definitely go back to try out more. Today I got the creme brûlée latte and a piece of coffee cake. My husband got a hot chocolate. My latte was delicious and I am currently eating the coffee cake which is really good as well (and an extremely generous portion). They have a pretty good selection of baked goods as well as breakfast sandwiches and other breakfast foods. My husband did not care for the hot chocolate and actually ended up not drinking it. It was basically hot milk with a hint of chocolate. However, props for using milk as so many places fail to do that. Due to Covid I wasn't able to get the full scope of this place. It is very small and therefore, I don't suggest eating indoors as you cannot properly space yourself. They do offer outdoor seating and they have a drive through. If you order inside, you will have to shuffle around if other people are in there or coming in to place orders. I would suggest the drive through, order ahead or delivery during this time. Staff are incredibly friendly and orders are fulfilled quickly. The prices are on par with other coffee shops. Overall, I would recommend this little, locally owned shop and will be coming back here myself. Do be aware that their location is not the easiest to get out of if you are headed back into Goose Creek. It is also easy to miss if you are trying to find it. read more
