They have legos, board games, vinyl records, notebooks, tarot cards, and so much more. They even have super cheap totes that are cute to boot.

It's a used bookstore with more than 40,000 books; so prepare to spend at least an hour (if not an afternoon) perusing the bookshelves. It's easy to get lost in the stacks here, as there are LOTS of hallways and a labyrinth of rooms. There is a room for small gatherings, a rare book room, and an alcove to tuck away with a book. One window in the store has a bit of nostalgia as it overlooks Bob Dylan's old apartment (and is now the Loring Bar). If you love a used bookstore and a historic site, this place is worth a visit.

After the depressing visit to the rather empty Marshalls store, I decided to stop in to Barnes & Nobles, the other open tenant. I love Barnes & Nobles because it always cheer me up with all the colorful books and a Starbucks! But not here. I walked into to the coffee shop and I was rather disappointed as all the pastries and coffee cakes were lacking... I decided to just order iced tea. Then I found it annoying that the barista being preoccupied with talking on the walkie to security about a shoplifter than making my iced tea...so...as soon as I got my iced tea in hand, I left the immediately to get out of the uncomfortable space.

Employees were hustling trying to help people find their obscure collections. I even heard a customer telling a clerk about the book title as the computer search turned up nill. The customer then said well it's on Amazon Prime, to which all the clerk could say was perhaps thats were you should be. I don't think I could take face to face people all day. Of course we know they have a coffee cafe as we get a coupon for a cookie with purchase, I also saw vinyl records. I would think you could only get those in hidden away grubby shops in lost corners of the city. Being a stubborn male who won't ask for directions while traveling and generally does not ask for help in a store, I relented and had to ask. We rapidly walked to a corner of the sprawling footprint and found a section I had missed and I found exactly what I was looking for.

Something is off about this shop. I went in to check out their book selection, not set on buying…read moreanything. The cashier told me that a tarot and palm reader was in today and I told her "thank you" and moved on because that's not why I came in. As I was looking at books, the psychic came out and lit an incense and began somewhat aggressively and quickly walking around the shop chanting under his breath. He came within inches of me looking at books multiple times, making a point to mention there was bad energy in the shop, to which the cashier agreed. It felt targeted toward me, and even if it wasn't, it would have made any customer uncomfortable. I'm not sure if it was because I declined the palm reading, but it was terrible customer service and made me feel incredibly uncomfortable. I wish I hadn't purchased an almond oil to support them because I left feeling attacked for simply being a patron.
