I called the day before to order an arrangement for a small family memorial service. The sales person was patient and talked with me at length about the possibilities. I decided on a European Garden arrangement. I picked it up the next day and it was lovely, and shockingly reasonable! There were at least seven plants in the arrangement. Definitely my favorite flower shop in Memphis...I just wish it wasn't so expensive! I have been going to Rachel's Flower Shop for years and years, mostly because this is where my parents always went and it is pretty close to my house. So when my pup got lost for an hour yesterday (thanks for that, pet sitter), and a neighbor found her, I knew I needed to do something nice for them. They wouldn't accept money so flowers were the next best thing...just to show a little gratitude and appreciation. Good Samaritan award, if you will. Most florists hate not calling ahead for an arrangement, but they couldn't have been nicer about it. I told them I didn't want to spend more than $50 and they made a stunning arrangement in a square vase right away. It only took about 15 minutes and I got to browse around the store looking at the little knick knacks they also have for sale. I love crosses and they have some beautiful ones. They also have a ton of stone statuary for the garden (my mom is a huge fan). The knick knacks are actually very well-priced; it is the flowers where I get a little sticker shock. But that is any flower shop I guess and the customer service here blows everyone else in Memphis away...so that is why I'm a loyal Rachel's customer! I love fresh flowers, but they can be crazy expensive. There's a solution, though - flower happy hour at Rachel's. From 4 p.m. - 5 p.m. on Saturday afternoons, all of the cut flowers at Rachel's are buy one, get one free. The price depends on the flower - my lillies were two for $5, roses were 2 for $3 and the carnations were about $1 for two. I wound up scoring 12 flowers for about $16. The stock changes weekly, so you never know what will be available or what specials they'll have (this past weekend, you could get two dozen roses for $20). Maybe they do a good job for "timed delivery customers" spending lots of money, but if you have a small flower need, such as a corsage for mothers day or prom or a single arrangement for a party, DO NOT GO HERE. Rachel's doesn't care about the "little people." I spent thirty minutes with the manager designing/picking out flowers for the wrist corsage for my son's first prom date, the week before prom. When I went to pick up the corsage at the time THEY had designated, it wasn't ready. I said, no problem, I have a few more errands I'll come back. They said "give us 15 minutes." 20 minutes later, at 3:25 in the afternoon, I come back, they have the closed sign on the door. I go inside anyway. Though they have plenty of time to help two decorators wandering around the store, they still haven't even started the corsage I ordered. We wait another twenty minutes, no apology, nothing. Then they bring out the corsage, which by the way, I had paid for the week previously when I ordered it. They bring out the corsage, it was NOT the flowers I had specified and paid for. It was not the colors I had specified and paid for. It did not have the accessories I had specified and paid for. I work in a production environment, so I understand what it is like to be under the gun. I said simply, this is not what I ordered. This is one gigantic white orchid with champagne and mirror tile looking ribbon. I asked for one small white orchid with small pink bud roses, champagne and pink ribbon and light silver woven ribbon, and the accessory you call "bling" which are small iridescent rhinestones on springy stems that you were hard selling on the day i ordered. The lady who had just made the corsage apologized and said that is what they told her to make. I said, well that isn't what I ordered, it is supposed to have "bling" and pink roses, and the ribbon is the wrong color. The manager says, you don't have to be mean to her, she's human she made a mistake. We can remake it. But we don't have the small orchids or the pink roses. I say how are you going to remake it when you don't have the flowers i ordered? She says "I can add the bling to it" I said, I don't think so, not with that horrendous ribbon in there. She gave me a $6 refund (less than one third of the purchase price) and I left. I will NEVER step foot in this shop again. In short, they treated me rudely, didn't have my order ready, made me come back, still didn't have it ready, got the order wrong, blamed me for it, then pitted me against a girl making minimum wage (instead of taking responsibility as mgmt. should), and kept my purchase price. read more

We came in on a Saturday afternoon at 4 PM and just happened upon "happy hour," when all flowers are buy one get one free! We were able to make a gorgeous bouquet out of flowers such as irises, calendula, and Queen Anne's lace for only a little over $9! Also, the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Rachel's is a little gem of a flower shop/garden supply store in Midtown. They have a great selection of potted and cut flowers and well as some silk selections and home decor items. I've not purchased any flowers here, so I cannot attest to their greatness. What I have purchased here is two cement flower boxes that reside on my front porch. I searched high and wide for exactly what I wanted, and Rachel's was the only place who could deliver. If you've ever driven past this location you've likely seen the extensive selection of cement and stone statues and lawn dandruff. My flower boxes are huge- so huge and heavy I cannot even lift them alone. No worries- just pull your car around back and they'll load any of your heavier purchases for you. At only $100 bucks a piece they were the most reasonably priced I've seen anywhere. I will definitely be back here before planting season this spring. read more

Rachael's is always on target when I need flowers. Their suggestions are in the best of taste and they go the extra mile for their customers. Recently I ordered flowers for an Episcopal funeral, which puts some restrictions on what is allowed. My order taker knew the church and had done the flowers for the family.
