I'm so impressed by Rachel's Hair Salon!! I've tried for years to find a go-to salon understands Asian hair, and my last visit solidified this for me as *the* spot. I originally had John, who did a phenomenal job, and wasn't sure how a new stylist would be after he left. However, Ann was equally impressive and I'll be requesting her again! I requested a few inches off, layers, face framing, and subtle curtain bangs for more versatility. Ann not only delivered but made some suggestions, like shorter layers and slightly less length off, that made a difference. I've honestly never gotten so many compliments on my usual haircut. And it's so low-maintenance, looking voluminous with my natural hair texture (and occasionally a 30-second blow dry to tame the bangs) after each hair wash. I don't live in AZ and found Rachel's Salon online when I decided I need root touch up before work meetings in the coming week. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I called and they were able to fit me in that morning for a single process color.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I was nervous going somewhere unknown to me, but Ann was amazing and explained why my colorist at home is using too dark and recommended what works best for my hair. She also toned my ends to even out and tame the dry ends. If I could give 0 stars I would. They completely over processed the front of my hair - I told them I had very fine hair and it over processes easy. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When it came out awful they spent 20 minutes gas lighting me and touching my hair when I asked them not to touch me, and even had to yell it.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I still let them take pictures of my hair, which from the back may look good but the roots, the awful white color underneath and in the front, my hair looks awful and the solution they offered was a root tap. highly highly recommend going to a salon that actually specializes in blondes, and doesn't lie that they do. They still made me pay the full $200 even though I walked out extremely unhappy without even the haircut that I needed. Truly my worst salon experience I've ever had. read more

I got a normal haircut (male), and wife and daughter got a bit more. We were all happy with our cuts, and the prices were very reasonable for the services. If I could give a 0 I would because the way I was treated doesn't deserve any stars! I was only a few late because I was stuck in traffic therefore I called to make sure it was ok. But somehow still ended up waiting half an hour to be seen by the person who was supposedly going to do my hair. From the start there was an attitude instead of apologizing for making me wait that long. She was upset that I wanted to go lighter when I lastly got brown hair and before that I had box black hair. I was completely honest with her and I even tried asking for different services because she told me that she could do highlights and the minute I said I didn't want hightlights and even said I would rather all over color brown and she said no that the only color she could do is black but before that she already had told me she couldn't do my hair. When I asked her how I could fix my hair so that I could be back in a few months she said you can't do anything to fix it your hair is already damaged next time don't use box dye. That's no way to talk to a treat a customer especially one that has been nothing but polite understanding and was trying to be accommodating even though I was the one who was going to pay for the service. Also would like to add that the lady who touched my hair dropped the glove on the floor and then put that same glove on to touch my hair. Clearly they're not as clean as they should be.! read more

Tuyen is probably one of AZ's top colorists. I've been coloring my hair with some of the best of the best on the West Coast for the last two decades and I can say that Tuyen knows her stuff when it comes to color and even cut! She's kept my Asian hair healthy with the platinum blonde I've had over the last year and now I'm back to my favorite color of a very dark, ashy blonde/brown. Tuyen is currently keeping my trims with her to a minimal as we're working on growing out my pixie cut to a nice A-line bob again. She did tell me that whoever cut my hair before went a little overboard so we need to really give it some time to grow back out, and I definitely trust her expertise here. I love that this is her salon she owns and the other stylists that work with her seem extremely friendly as well and talented in their own way. She also has a lovely young assistant that assists her and the other stylists with customers. The ease of booking an appointment online and also paying by card is such a bonus here too. read more

Recommended by a friend for coloring, but I just came in for a simple trim/layered cut on medium length hair. Booked a reservation with a little wait on a Monday - I would recommend this even though they take walk ins fine. I don't usually go to salons, but I was willing to pay for layers that would last me a while. Whole appointment, including wash, dry, cut, and style was under an hour and costed $40 + tip. Very reasonable for what I was looking for. I saw other reviews mention Angela so I asked for her specifically in the reservation, but I feel their employees are all skilled. Angela did the job quickly and was very kind. I appreciate her swiftness even though I think she had a much longer appointment right before mine so hopefully she was able to rest. They offer a variety of services but I've mostly heard good things about coloring services. Not everywhere you can get a reliable hair colorist so I'm excited they're in the area :) read more
