We absolutely loved coming by RAD yesterday. It's right by the bike path on the silver strand- they make is so fun & easy to test all of the bikes. And the bikes are SO user friendly-- and just REALLY fun. All of the team at RAD is so friendly, helpful, and you can tell they actually love their job. RAD has the best ebikes for the price and can ship to you for free- or for same price you can pick up a fully assembled one at the SD showroom. Couldn't more highly recommend RAD bikes (we went home with a RADRover since we live by trails and it's all terrain) -- & their beautiful showroom here in SD. read more

I drove down from LA to test drive a Radwagon 4 bike. Everyone was so kind and helpful. They had an especially fantastic employee named Frank that allowed me to haul him as cargo to see how it may feel with both my kids on the back. I affectionately began calling him "Baby Frank" and his fellow employees got a big kick out of the spectacle. I am ready to purchase the bike and all accessories and am planning to purchase from this shop instead of ordering online. I just need an excuse to see Baby Frank and the rest of this stellar staff! Company take your order, sits on the money for couple of months and after that inform you that they do not have product you ordered and that they canceled the order. This company customer service is joke. They don't care at all about customers. I strongly advise to stay away from trying to purchase from them. Rad's maintenance shop is so back logged, it will take over a month just to get any maintenance or upkeep done on your ebike. I tried to schedule a routine maintenance on my Rad 6 plus I purchased a week ago and they couldn't service my ebike for over a month. Presently I've hired a Himiway service man to complete the maintenance issues I've had with this ebike. read more

There are two different areas about which I have a complaint: the appointment process, and the work itself. I had an appointment, mid day Wednesday; the drop off instructions said to expect 1 hour 40 minutes. At the shop I was told it would take a few days, because they were so backed up. I basically just needed a tuneup, also my battery would not hold a charge, which was a fuse problem. When I came back 3 days later to pick up the bike, I asked if they charged the battery and they said no, they hadn't thought about that. WOW... I couldn't even believe that; I paid $100 for the work and was given a bike that wasn't even ready to ride. I asked if I could borrow a battery, leaving mine for collateral, so I could ride with my friends who'd brought their bikes to ride with me on the bikeway...that answer was NO... I spoke with the manager and he said they needed every available battery for trial ride bikes. If they had used a little bit of imagination, they could have afforded to loan me a battery, I doubt if every last bike was needed for trial rides every minute of the day Saturday. They want to make sure that nobody would be left waiting if they wanted to try out a bike, but I, who have already bought TWO of RadPower bikes, doesn't get s**t. Maybe this is just a tired old cliché, but "the customer is always right"... There is no reason my bike should not have been ready to ride when I picked it up! Their ads talk about how many people are riding RadPower bikes these days, then why aren't they better equipped to deal with them? Like maybe some staff who know what it means to take care of a customer! read more

We bought our Rad Rover 6 Plus power bikes a month ago and we can't stop riding them! They're so easy and fun to ride that you never want to get off! We just got 100 miles on them and took them in for the first maintenance which was free! Everyone who works there is so nice and willing to help. The Lead Service Manager John Charles Renna was super nice and very informative about what was done to our bikes and answered all our questions. Simple story: I ordered a bike. One came in a damaged box, so the bike shop "partner" who assembles these things refused the delivery. No other bike ever replaced it. There is no phone number, no chat, and the two emails you can use are useless. I can't cancel the order or even "return" the non-existent bike, as the time has been too long. I will have to sue to get my money back. I'm betting that the reviews praising the awesome customer service are pure plants. read more

Do not buy a Rad Power Bike. I have been waiting four weeks for a replacement part. I have emailed Rad Power bike several times only to receive automated responses. I just visited the Rad Power Support website. Voice support with a human is nonexistent. The site offers Text and Chat support from 10 am to 3 pm. I texted and and attempted to chat at 2:30. I received the same response on both options "This service is unavailable." You've been warned. read more

Just purchased a used Rad Runner Plus near me in NC SD and was unsure about the transaction as a whole. Tried to save a few bucks by getting a used bike but looking at it seeing a broken shifter to rusted chain and cassette, on top of that the keys that were given to me clearly had been replaced and are not the factory keys. I called into this store and Sam picked up the phone when I was transferred to the service dept. Sam was extremely patient with me on the phone after I explained my situation. I asked him if the bike was a good purchase from what I had seen and the mileage that it had, and he assured me that these bikes are coming into the shop with more and more miles on them, as to be expected when they are used for commuters and such. He walked me slowly over everything I should look out for and what to be cautious of and I have to say really set me at ease! He assured me that they carry different stock than the Rad company site ( they would have more instock items) Told me about their fantastic labor rate that covers the labor to replace all parts you would need, just you cover the parts to be replaced. Sam even quickly put together a quote for the few things I specifically asked for right there on the spot. They were even able to track down a set of "F" keys for the later version batteries in store! They are back ordered from the radrunner site...weeks out. Can't tell you how happy I was to hear that. I have had this bike for a week already and I have had the opportunity to take it to other shops down the street from my house, but I would rather make the 50 minute trip down to Imperial Beach to see Sam, my son and I will make a day out of it. His time with me on the phone meant everything. Great exceptional service is very hard to come by and when you find it you better appreciate it. The owner is lucky to have Sam on the receiving end of the phone when customers call their store. You don't find this type of service anywhere! Very pleased with the entire process so far! I plan on telling the owner this in person during our visit Saturday, should be commended on how professional he presents himself on the phone. Initial post: I've heard amazing things about this bike. My kids want it to commute to their school (which is a bit far from home). I am a nurse and work long hours. I thought this bike will help us all. I looked everywhere and asked around before buying just any bike. I wanted the best electric bike in all areas and thought we had found it. All my younger teen friends at school have the exact same bike and the parents and kids got us excited about it. It came well recommended. I am sure the bike is gonna be perfect.... However, I went online and paid extra for expert assembling and delivery. (Thinking it was wise of me to have an expert assemble it safely). I don't know what else to do. I've tried all numbers, forms, and emails for over 10 days. I also tried to get a hold of someone who can tell me how long is the assembly taking... just a simple ETA. (Crickets) We got the bike in September 18 and arrived to the Mobile Rad Service Center in Mira Mesa area/San Diego on the 26th. Since then, NO ONE at the main customer service area has been able to offer any information. I have received no replies to either emails (2) or voicemails (2 to the mobile center). I spoke to a very kind customer service person form their main phone number but she couldn't find a way of contacting the Service Center!! (Rd flag) Please someone contact me to make sure everything is ok, your received all the parts needed and an estimated assembly and delivery time so I can plan and arrange other ways transport/commuting for my teen. Thank you. I hope I hear from someone soon. Update 10/11/2021: I called once again on Saturday 10/09/21. I tried their San Diego show room phone number (option1) and the customer service representative was extremely helpful. She read the previous notes from another call a couple days before that another great representative had made on the case before this initial review. She said they made a request for their Rad Mobile Service in Mira Mesa to contact me. I was working a long shift but I noticed two missed calls (no voicemail). I also got an email from the Mobile Service stating they were extremely overwhelmed with work and apologized for the delays. My bike is scheduled to arrive tomorrow Tuesday (10/11/21) after 3:00pm. We are all very grateful and happy. My kids have been wanting an electric bike to commute to school and friends homes. I wanted to try one at the time before buying two bikes due to $$ constrains and just to make sure it was a wise choice. My two teens are going to be riding with their friends and have some extra freedom. I am trusting Rad Bikes with my most valuable treasure. I appreciate the calls, email, and reply to this post. We look forward to enjoying our new addition and we hope the wait and $ worth our while. (Fingers crossed). Thank you very much again! Buying my RadRunner Plus was a five star experience from start to finish. I was aware of the brand quality through research and word of mouth, but the genuine support of the staff at the store is what really sold me. Everyone I encountered was sincerely happy to help answer any questions I had and point me in the right direction - especially John and Jenni. Their "customer first" approach and passionate expertise really made me feel comfortable and excited about my purchase. They guided me through bike selection, operation, and other considerations, like safety - which was very important to me because this bike is not just for me, but also for my toddler. I was able to come in and test a rental with my toddler along the scenic bike path that borders the shop, and we walked out with a bike of our own that same day. We celebrated our fun day and new toy next door at Novo with delicious food, drink, and views. We will definitely be back for a bike path + Novo date in the future. And I feel at ease knowing that if I have any questions along the way, I can easily call or drop by the store for the same care and support. So, it pains me to give this company 1 star because when I was researching e-bikes, I wanted to buy local (San Diego) but went with Rad Power because all the reviews I read raved about their customer service. When they opened a storefront in Imperial Beach, I was happy to know they had a presence in San Diego, even though it is a long way from where I live. I was excited the day I bought my bike though the person that went over everything with me seemed only interested in getting the sale and pretty annoyed at my questions. I chalked this up to someone having a bad day, though. However, I felt very mislead about their one free tuneup with a bike purchase. There are conditions to the "free tuneup" It must be redeemed within one year or 100 miles, whichever comes first. Getting a tuneup within 100 miles is a joke unless you're riding in some very dirty or wet conditions. But the sale was already processed, and I had been waiting a few months for the bike, so I let this slide also. Fast forward five months to last week. My front light stopped working, so I called the IB shop to make an appointment and ask a couple of questions. All my calls went to voicemail, which I left three messages. Well, it's been a week and I still haven't gotten a call back. I COMPLETELY REGRET BUYING A RAD POWER BIKE, and I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY. I took my bike to another company, and they fixed the problem and were extremely nice about it and didn't charge me. What a difference! read more

Auto rad, mini four, the motor burn up after a little over 100 miles they sent me a new one that one lasted about 80 miles they sent me a brand new bike, their new version of their mini and again that motor lasted about 80 miles, in the beginning they used high-end parts now since the supply chain issue they are using no name. Generic parts in the bikes are completely unreliable. Do not recommend this brand. It is definitely not an every day commuter bike. read more

Frank exhibited extraordinary customer service. My dad blew out his battery on his new bike by freak chance, and expected to have to pay the full $600 to replace it. Went home did my research found most bike rentals use rad bikes. Went back down and bought 2 bikes. City 3 and rad runner plus. Love them. Lots of upgrades come with each bike. Beyond impressed with the staff and bikes at Rad. I was so excited when I first heard they opened a showroom in IB. I went down right away to purchase a Rad Wagon and was met with an incredibly knowledgeable and friendly staff. After purchasing my first bike a few months ago unfortunately it was stolen. I reached out to Chris who helped me during my first purchase. I explained what happened and he went above and beyond to assist me in replacing not only my Rad Wagon but secured the accessories I needed in the incredibly tight timeline I had. He responded to all of my 900 questions quickly and ensured me that he would get it all ready in time and he followed through big time! I chose noon yesterday (a Thursday) to visit and the first thing I noticed was that it wasn't as crowded as I expected. The second thing I noticed was the friendliness of the guys at the outside test ride station. In fact, one of them told me it was only his second day working there and judging from his genuine enthusiasm for the bikes you'd think he'd won the lottery! He assured me the foldable bikes could easily fit in the trunk of my classic (ok. OLD!) Camry sedan and then he proved it by folding the bike and putting it in the trunk! At this point I'm practically sold before even getting on the thing. After taking a test ride along a beautiful adjacent bike path I finally made it inside the showroom and encountered... surprise!... more super-friendly employees. Considering all the rave reviews here (especially positive comments about the Service Dept) I've decided to pull the trigger today and go for the RadMini Step-Thru because it looks and rides like a boss! My bike continues to fail. Customer service only sends videos of other bikes, in a poor attempt to resolve the issue. I have gone through all the steps of checking connections etc. and it still stops working. Customer service has been unresponsive in my requests for a return. They have also removed my negative review from their website.... Good luck if you buy one. read more

The customer service is top of the line. Always friendly, helpful and so knowledgeable about all the types of bikes they sell. I purchased a folding mini here. I live in New Mexico and drove the 14 hrs, with my bike in the back, just to learn more from the incredible staff. I can specifically recommend Jaryl. Helped me understand better body mechanics for folding the bike, better fit for my short body and small hands, more options with the handle bars and several other things I needed info and education about. The team members helping with the test rides, and I HIGHLY recommend a test ride if you have ever considered an eBike, all deserve a raise. Sean, or maybe spelled Shawn, one of the supervisory staff was right out in the showroom working hard, laughing and keeping things flowing. One of the other supervisory staff even recognized me From my last visit, maybe John?! Calling customer service has always been helpful and easy. I even brought them all a double batch of homemade cookies for all they do for me and all their customers. I love my Rad bike. The San Diego store knows how to do bikes. Just bought our rad mini bike and the power keeps going out. We only have 17 miles on it. Since we live out of town they suggested calling the mobile service van to look at it. They want to charge me $90 to come and fix a bike that they sold us that doesn't even work. Ridiculous! read more

I have owned my Step thru City bike since 2017 and I love it. We are vacationing at Fiddlers Cove Coronado Island CA RV park for a couple of weeks and I was riding my bike on the bike path when I saw Rad Bikes had a new store here. We stopped by and I had a problem with my shifting gears. They were backed up with 2 weeks of work in the maintenance department but the supervisor John was very knowledgeable and happy to assist me and my problem. He took my bike in and figured out the problem and had my bike back to me by the afternoon. I was very thankful and was really surprised when he sent me an email thanking me for bringing in my bike. With help and advice from friends, we began our search into e-bikes. We went to many stores throughout San Diego County, researching along the way and ended up at Rad Power Bikes in Imperial Beach. Bobba (sorry, not sure of spelling) greeted us and directed us to different options! Tyler, who set us up for the test drive, directed us to the Silver Strand Loop, explained the operations--as well as offered insights of his own and recommendations--he was great! (After the test drive, on the loop, we don't know how anyone couldn't go ahead and make the purchase--it is gorgeous!) Back to the purchase and then extraordinary service with Marcus! He made adjustments to our bikes, raised the handlebars, lowered the seats, explained even further the best recommendations for operating the bikes, charging, oiling the bike chain, etc., and shared his own experiences. (He even mounted the cell phone holder for us--which he didn't have to do.) He helped us load them in our van, and again offered the open door policy for any questions or help--and a reminder for the 3 month service. As for the bikes, they are very fun, seem very well built, and as service is a concern of ours, it's nice to know we can return to Rad for service and repairs. Thanks! read more

We purchased 2 bikes 5 months ago - had to have mobile service with a brake issue on one, and now our other bike is having issues.  We had booked an RV resort vacation planned SPECIFICALLY around our bikes. Having huge grins on our face as we placed our helmets on, imagine our disappointment that the bike failed after a 1/4 mile ruining our very expensive 2 nights stay at the resort and anticipated "RAD" experience. We spent 3 hours troubled shooting to no avail.  We gave a good recommendation to a family member resulting in a purchase based on our previous customer service.  We have another friend who is looking to purchase a bike who happens to currently be visiting us.  Due to this experience, and lack of respect for the purchasers of your product, this recommendation / possible new purchase probably will not happen. Sad for RAD Bikes who came out young and strong only to fail for the long haul. We live 1.5 hours away from the San Diego store.  That would mean a 3 hour roundtrip ride to drop off the bike, and another 3 hour roundtrip drive to pick up the bike.  That totals 6 hours to get the bike to them and the current loss of $300 RAD experience for the RV resort rental stay.  After being told it would probably be 2 weeks before we'd get our bike back because they had many customers ahead of us (hum......... lots of broken bikes? ‍),  we made a kind and reasonable request to use a demo bike for 2 hours when we dropped the bike off so that our friend and my husband could enjoy a ride and possibly buy a bike (seeing how our vacation was a "RAD" bike disaster with a bike that's only 5 months old - remember a 6 hour turn around).  The manager let us know his potential buyers were more important to take a 15 minute ride than to let us use one for 2 hours.  Really????????  So making sales is more important than your existing customers who have been purchasing additional add-ones and referring new buyers??????  Little critical thinking skills and poor representation of Rad Bikes. In addition, he said that we would have to contact RAD Bikes to make arrangements for mobile service, but the company website states there exists none in our area code.  We sent 2 emails, one requesting that we'd like to speak a customer service representative live via phone (with a response stating that that we needed to contact the shop - which we already had done) and another one asking once again to speak directly to a corporate customer service representative and got ghosted (as described in a previous YELP post). Now we have to drive 6 hours total to get our bike repaired.  Something is not right here and we feel that RAD bikes is misrepresenting their product and capabilities. This was defiantly not the "RAD" experience that we expected after sending $6,000k worth of business their way with bike purchases and add-ons. RECOMMENDATION: Purchase from a local bike shop! read more

Look even if your not going to buy a rad power bike go there to test ride one. It will show you what your needs are. Free test rides 7 days a week until it gets dark. I bought a rad rover 6 and had the best buying experience I ever had in a retail store. I went 4 different days to test ride the different bikes. Months of research and with there test rides I found out exactly what I needed for my daily use. I went with rad because I could not find a better product for the price. Every person in that store has a smile on there face because they know they have a product that sells its self with ease. No pushy salespeople and the most important thing nobody ignoring you. There are $600 E-bikes all over Amazon but they are not great trust me I tried them. I'm 6'2" about 250 and this thing moves me. I went over 30 miles twisting the throttle to start then all pedal assistance. I know it says 45 miles but let's be real my weight has to slow this thing down a little. I'm not sure what else to say except go test drive one because it's crazy fun. read more

Recently, I stopped by Radpower Bikes to check out the Radmini4. After getting an orientation to an ebike and taking a test ride on the nearby Bayshore Bikeway, I was sold. This bike is simply awesome - you can work out as hard as you like or get a pedal assist as you wish. After purchasing my Radmini4, I experienced some minor issues with it, but Sherrie, Marcus, Sean, and Scott in service resolved my issues immediately with excellent customer service and support. All of the staff I have encountered at this store are helpful and really interested in insuring that you enjoy your ebike and know how to get it properly serviced. I am extremely satisfied with my purchase and have now enjoyed my Radmini for nearly 300 miles. Radpower is one of the leading North America ebike companies and it's easy to see why after riding one of their bikes. They are easy to accessorize and Radower parts are well-priced. Recently my wife and I had the chance to visit Rad Power Bikes in San Diego (Imperial Beach). We were greeted outside by Chelsea who gave us an informative overview of the store and suggested that we take a look at all the models inside then pick what we wanted to test ride. The staff inside was also very helpful and described the differences in each model. Once we selected the bikes we wanted to try, Chelsea helped us get comfortable with all of the controls before our ride. The store couldn't be in a better location - right next to a great bike path overlooking the water! After our awesome test ride, Alex answered all of our questions about the bikes, service, ordering, etc. He even recommended an awesome restaurant near the beach for us! The staff could not have been any better. They answered all of our questions and we never felt pressure to purchase. They were just fun to hang out with and loved to talk about bikes. Rad was my first choice but ended up being the most disappointing and frustrating experience that I have ever had! After purchasing a bike, but before picking up a working bike, everything continued on a downhill trajectory. Not only did they give me a bike that had a battery that did not work, they put me in the back of the cue not the front, wanted to cover it under warranty rather than give me a new bike, promised the bike in about 48 hours but it was not ready for about 96 hours....agreed to full refund but then proceeded to only credit back about 1/4 of the the total dollars spent. Getting a credit on my credit card was a hassle too! Do your self a favor and stay away from this particular Rad dealership. They are going through serious growing pains! Remember once you buy a bike, service is the only thing that matters. You have to get these bikes serviced often if you intend on riding them a lot. read more
