I saw no difference in hair growth after two expensive sessions, and my third appointment got canceled while I was in the elevator to the waiting room after notifying the staff I'd be late... I was 9 minutes late when I got the cancellation call, and I was told I couldn't even come inside/couldn't be squeezed in later because appointments were so back-to-back. I can go on and on about how it didn't hurt, and how great my results are. but instead i wanna focus on something that i didn't think i would even get out of this treatment. NO MORE INGROWN HAIRS. Ingrown hairs are something that i've dealt with since i started shaving. things have tried: expensive waxing, expensive razors, expensive serums, expensive exfoliant.... nothing. literally no results. Here was my routine for the past 3 years or so years: get a brazilian wax, deal with the painful itchy bumps for the first week (besides the few stragglers that last), and then not worry about anything for the next month. nothing completely got rid of the bumby itchiness. OK anyways. My first appointment Josefina noticed all my bumpys and told me that laser will help with that. It has. Laser hair removal treats ingrown hairs. I came here for a consultation about getting my bikini area layered I made the appointment (appt) the day before and got an email saying my appt was scheduled as shown below. I arrived to the building 5 minutes before my scheduled time but could not find a way inside. I walked around for 5 minutes no signs anywhere I finally called to let them know I was there and wasn't sure where to go I got no answer. Another 5 went by still couldn't get in I called again no answer I called multiple times ended up being 10 -15 minutes late until I figured out how to get into a locked building with no signs anywhere. I had to fill out paper work which I didn't realize I had to do which took another 10 minutes I would've preferred to fill it out online. Maybe it my fault for not realizing this but most places email you to tell you to arrive 10-15 minutes early to do paper work. When I got there Josefina told me I never confirmed my appt( I never got an email to confirm) showed me there scheduled with patient names on it which felt like some sort of HIPPA violation. Basically she said I never confirmed so that's why they double booked. My appt was booked for 11:05 and the schedule she showed me showed my appt and 11:30 so that was wrong. She then practically shoo'd me out didn't answer any of my questions then expected me to book with her. She then went to see the other costumer instead of taking the time to try and work me in or at least apologize that she had to go and would contact me later to answer questions. She then just told her assistant to answer my questions and to schedule my appt. I would not feel comfortable getting an intimate area lasered after that kind of treatment. It just felt like things weren't being ran very well like the have only been an operations for 6months and are still trying to figure out the best way to do things. I've been going to Josefina for over a year to get laser hair removal on the whole chacha and bootie. For those of you who haven't priced out the cost of laser hair removal (which you should definitely do) you might get a bit of a sticker shock. However, I can guarantee you that it is completely worth it!!! Josefina was careful to manage my expectations by promising 50-60% hair reduction due to my skin and hair coloration. But I've been blown away by the actual results which are much more like 90%. When you are thinking of the total cost, you need to keep in mind that the goal is to get to a point where you never need to return because your hair will be eliminated. My laser experience with Josefina has been so fantastic. I loved that she was very honest about what I should expect from my planned six treatments. It's important to go in knowing that for most of us there will always be a little hair left over. The laser can't get the fine, blonde fuzz or lighter hairs. That said, I still have had better than expected results and highly recommend the service. I love Josefina - love coming in to see her, catching up, laughing... all while getting some serious work done! I have had so many laser treatments by so many people at so many different places over so many years, and nothing has been permanent. At this point, my bar for hair removal treatment is: Does the hair stop growing for 3-5 weeks? If so, I'm happy. So far -- I've had seven treatments with Josefina. And the hair does stop growing for 3-5 weeks. Bar met! Josefina has exceeded the bar, though, because now that I've done the recommended number of appointments, she is giving me a few touch-up treatments for free. That is awesome. I was just about to stop coming because it is so expensive, and I was bummed because the hair still grows. She seems confident that eventually it will stop growing -- and she's standing behind that belief. Sweet! Thank you Josefina! One thing to note: In hair removal, there are different names for different treatments and machines etc. This is not technically laser. Josefina does IPL hair removal -- aka Intense Pulsed Light. A treatment much older than laser and very well known in dermatology world for many uses (including hair growth reduction). Here's from the wikipedia entry: "IPL can permanently reduce hair growth, most effectively in darker, coarser hair. There are many names and devices for pulsed light treatments such as E-Light, ELOS, and M-Light.[citation needed] Laser hair removal is different and uses coherent, monochromatic laser light." It works for me as well (or perhaps better) than laser, and I'm at my wits end, so why not give it a go! Seems to be working. However, I wanted to update to share my experience with facial laser treatment (done by Josefina) to treat my persistent melasma (hyper pigmentation/ darkened skin on the face). Using a combination of topical creams, laser treatments, soothing facials and even radio frequency, my skin looks even-in-tone, taut, younger and better than it has in years. I am thrilled! I tried three different six session round on the same area at THREE different facilities before coming here and Josephina was the ONLY one could actually keep the hair gone. The price is great! People who are complaining obviously don't have much experience with market price for real non-Groupon service. I've been through Lazer facilities in LA, Sac and Seattle and she's very affordable comparably. Even when I moved to Seattle for a year I scheduled trips down to portland just to see her due to effectiveness and affordability. She's already treated three areas for me and it's well worth it.
