Jose Castrejon and his son William work this shop (Castrejon 714 534 8311), which used to be Radiator Depot. They also advertise in Craigslist as mobile mechanic. I brought the car to Jose at Radiator Depot on Westminster Ave., gave him the OEM Overflow Valve and gasket to replace. After a couple delays and reschedules, he finally hooked up the smoke machine for a leak test. He said leak is from the Evap Canister. I bought a couple brand-new canister from Japan, $600-675 each, but they did not look like the original part. Had to pay expensive freight to return them. Finally bought an exact used canister in eBay. Brought the car to Jose a couple times. He was way too busy so he kept telling me to come back. then he agreed to do it, kept the car for over a month while I was on vacation. I came back, he did not fix it, told me to move the car. Someone had keyed the paint on driver side from front to back. I had to call a mobile mechanic to install the used canister, $200 labor for 2 hours. He hooked up the major hoses but missed out on 3 others, but car still had Evap fault. I called but he ghosted me. I had to jack car up, remove left rear wheel a few times, fishing under the car sight unseen, found and hooked up 2 unhooked hoses, but evap fault persisted. The only component left not replaced was the OverFlow Valve on top of the gas tank. I went over all Evap hoses. Any leaky hoses were unlikely as the car is nice, clean, no rust, no dirt. Cops and CHP were hassling me about the expired tag. It costed me a lot of money, time and aggravation. Lexus dealer wanted $160 for diagnostic, applied to any repair. I suspected dealer would charge 4 hours labor or $680 to drop the gas tank plus parts. Finally on recommendation from a guy in the Lexus club I took the risk with an ex Lexus dealer tech, Son at Dynamic Auto Services in Fountain Valley, CA. He specializes in Lexus and Toyota, has diagnostic system to turn on and off Evap components to check leaks. In 15 minutes he confirmed a very small leak at the OverFlow Valve. Son charged a very reasonable fee to drop the gas tank and install a new OverFlow valve, may be 50% less than Dealer, fixed the problem in 1 day, showed me the almost invisible crack on top of the old valve. Car passed smog next day. Jose Castrejon and his son William are just slap shot, back yard mechanics. They are so busy that they cannot do any complex diagnostics, cannot be relied on for high-end, luxury cars. They did a great job on my 40 foot diesel motorhome. The system was not cooling when we started it this year. They did a leak check but were unable to find anything as some pipes are within the frame, so they serviced the system and added leak detection dye. I beg you not to come here. Here are the legit reasons that happened to me. My car AC wasn't working. I brought it in. The man named Jose wasn't friendly or helpful at all. Somewhat mean spirit. I tried to make small talk but he just ignored. After an hour or so, it was done and I paid around $100 for it. It needed gas refill. After a few days I brought it back because the AC stopped working again. Jose didn't like to see me or willing to fix it. Finally he said that he's willing to do it again this time ( with nasty attitude) but it's stop working again then I have to pay again because this type of stuff is not guarantee. I left in disbelief, disappointed and frustrated. And I was afraid that the AC will not work again. But thank god it was ok. Fast forward: recently my car was having problem and I took it to Quality Auto Service Center. While waiting for my car getting fixed... I saw a client brought her car in for AC, same problem that I had, gas needed to be refilled. They took care or her so fast and it was cost her $60. I over heard the conversation with between the technician and the client. He told her that if there's any problems, just bring it back. Wow, I was shock to hear that. I was recommended to come here by my other mechanic who usually works on our Acura. I guess this place specializes in AC repairs so of course I trust my mechanics recommendation. I knew my AC compressor was out because I diagnosed it myself by trying to put Freon in it, and checking to see if it was a faulty AC compressor fuse. Yeah those didn't do a thing so I checked to see if the AC compressor itself was working and it was not moving when the AC was on so that was the problem. I called before hand for a quote which I thought was reasonable for labor and parts. I dropped my car off around 10am on a Thursday. I asked the receptionist what time they closed since I noticed on Yelp it says 5pm. The receptionist told me they closed at 5pm, perfect. She also told me the job would take 3-4hours and asked me if I was going to wait for the car to be finished and I firmly said "heck no, I'm going home" lol. I took a Lyft home and patiently waited for them to call me to give me the okay to pick my car up. Several hours passed by... it was now 2pm and I was wondering if they were going to call me at all to give me any updates or anything but still nothing... then another hour passed by and I made the decision to call them since it was now 3:30pm and asked what the status of my car was. They told me it was finished... And I confirmed again to ask what time they close and now they tell me they close at 4:30pm. So I had to rush my ass over there since I don't live very close... it would take me a good 30 mins to get there. Anyways I got there around 4:15pm thankfully. They didn't look busy when I got there so I was wondering why they didn't call me right when the car was finished... I mean I wasn't doing anything to be honest but would have been nice to get some updates since they suddenly changed the time they were closing too. I'm giving this place 4 stars cause they fixed my AC problem (before the heat wave starts) and it was affordable, but horrible at giving the customer updates or at least calling them to tell them their car was finished and then pick a time you want to close consistently. Jose, then saw that my thermostat hose was cold but didn't check until I offered to pay for the flush! I gave him the benefit of the doubt but even still the thermostat is NOT WORKING ! When I came back to the shop not even 10 min after, I confronted JOSE about the thermostat but JOSE was quick to turn his back on me left me standing and sat to finish his beer knowing what he did was a botched job. VERY DISAPPOINTED. NOT RECOMMENDED. I needed a major coolant leak diagnosed. Parked in front. I was greeted by a reception lady who said an inspection would cost $10 if I didn't get the work done here. I emphasized the obvious need for a prompt repair bc of the risk of the engine overheating. A younger Vietnamese mechanic came into the office and asked me to move my car to the back myself. Odd. I did that and told him what I knew, emphasizing my need for a repair today. He did bot respond at all. He lifted my car on the rack and started searching. A older Vietnamese mechanic (the principal) came to also search. The did not call me into the bay. They discussed my car at length in Vietnamese and never said a word to me and never showed me anything. The older guy spoke to the reception lady in Vietnamese and then walked away. She then came over to me and spoke in limited English. She said I had a major coolant leak (oh really?) and the leak is from a crack on the bottom of the coolant reservoir bottle. I responded that the leak appeared to be more extensive than that, which she denied. She said replacing the coolant bottle will fix the problem. She said the replacement bottle they use is $65. Was she trying to sell me the part I don't know. I told her I could get the bottle from a local auto parts for half that price. She said the mechanic didn't want to do the work but I was still required to pay the $10, which I did. No receipt. On my own I obtained the replacement part for $33. When changing it out I noticed that there was no crack or leak on my existing overflow bottle, so I was wasting my time. In summary, my Saturday afternoon was wasted here, and by obtaining a replacement part and starting a needless. Also, there was the opportunity cost of not getting the repair actually done somewhere else TODAY. read more

My Chevy Blazer heater stops working every couple years and in prior times I've have the radiator flushed, and that did the trick....but this time it didn't work.( I had it done somewhere else). I was having issues with my AC so I took my car to my go-to mechanic nearby. He said I needed a recharge and recommended Radiator Depot. There we met Paul, the owner. My husband opened the hood of my car for him to check what's going on. He said my car just needed freon. So great, cheaper than getting a recharge. Now this is where it all went south. We left my car and sat in the shade where his office is (wrong move by us). He came back to us saying something just clicked 'right now' so now I needed a new compressor. So from $80ish for a supposed recharge, to $50ish for freon to $650 for a compressor! I was so shocked by the abruptness of the issue at hand but we ended up doing it because I need the AC of my car running great because I have family visiting and my car is the family car. So he called late in the afternoon and he said it's done. I said I'll get it after work and that I hope they are still open by then. I got my car, drove it straight home and as I was parking, my car wasn't sounding right. I would know this because it's my car. Anyways, I told my husband and he said to take it back tomorrow. I had work really early so I just met with 1 client 3 miles away from my house. After an hour, i called my husband to tell him I'm done and if he can go with me to take it back. On my way home, my car sounded really worst by now, my dashboard lights were flashing on and off, my navigation display screen went blank, my horn stopped working and lastly my car just stopped moving. I called the owner and he said to tow it to his shop. At this point I didnt want to take it back because I felt so deceived. I called my mechanic and he said to bring it to him. And so we towed my car to my mechanic. Fast forward, he said I needed an alternator because of a leak. We shelled out $1,600 for the part and labor. Based on all the "positive" reviews for this place I thought I could trust them with my A/C issues. He told me he would put in stop leak and dye. Stop leak tries to seal a leak as the leak leaks and dye helps a mechanic locate where the leak is. The car ended up leaking everything out in 1 week instead of 3 months after my visit. When I brought it in for a followup the mechanic just felt around the pipes for oil. Didn't even use the UV light required to see the dye and told me that everything would have to be replaced for $1000. I then put in stop leak as they recommended which completely clogged my AC. DO NOT use the Quest/Interdynamics "Super Seal" product. I recently had to replace and flush all components. Did it myself, saved money, and I got to keep the tools. read more

Welp, my neighbor HIGHLY recommended Paul. My car had spewed coolant one evening and I wanted to nip the problem in the bud since I will be on a midnight shift at the beginning of November. Before I went I replaced the coolant cap at my lovely AutoZone (a store that I really like). Paul checked my old car, asked me a few questions, and then told me there was nothing wrong. He said I may have solved the problem by replacing the cap, but if the heat indicator goes past a certain point, to bring it back. I came here to replace my 2005 Toyota Sienna radiator and they did a great job even making minor adjustments the day after the installation. This is my 3rd radiator for my Sienna with 259,000 miles-1st one was the original that lasted 180,000 miles-2nd one only lasted 80,000 miles and was expensive from a shop in South OC so for my 3rd radiator decided to make the drive up and try Radiator Depot. I have come here 3 times over the past 5 years and they have done a fantastic job on my 1991 Lexus LS400. The first 2 times dealt with an air conditioner issue, the third the water pump, radiator reservoir and radiator. During the water pump install I had Paul's crew install a new timing belt, serpentine belt and anything else that had to do with the inside engine, water pump area, wear and tear. Actually Paul recommended this and he was correct in doing this. I could have done this work myself but it would have been a very big job. I got estimates from $50 more than his quote to an outrageous $250 more! The owner of the shop is a great honest guy. He has been here since the early 80s. He does radiator and air conditioning repairs only. He's been here for nearly 30 years... That's saying something considering how quickly businesses seem to be going out of business these days. He is very knowledgeable of his niche. He got me in and out in about 45min for my 2000 Honda accord. He work done was super professional and the employees were so amicable and friendly. After the install was finished they actually check out everything with the install to make sure everything is working properly. He also provides a 1yr warranty on his work. My radiator finally took a dump on me. 2007 Infiniti M45 Sport w/ approx. 108k miles. Came here through a friend reference. I went to several other shops and was quoted in the $450-$600 range for a new radiator, install/labor, pressure test, coolant, and to fix the ac/condenser fan mounts. On top of that, my old radiator cracked and spilled lots of coolant all over my engine compartment, so you can see specs of green smudge and drops everywhere.
