As soon as you walk in to Radina's Bakehouse, you can smell that heavenly aroma of fresh bread baking in the oven. As you move to place your order, you see all the wonderful pastry items, as well as gourmet chocolate, on full displace in the case. For this visit, I had a latte with light caramel. I had a regular latte the week before. Both times the latte came out just the way I like it. I didn't need the caramel, but it certainly made it more tasty. We were just passing through Manhattan and I'm so glad that Radina's was right across the parking lot from the hotel we stayed at (Holiday Inn Express)! I would normally give 5 stars as I have been a frequent Radina's customer. I order the same thing pretty much everytime I stop in. This Saturday on our way to do some shopping for the upcoming holidays the husband and I stop and get our usual. This time my Latte (plain) tastes like watered down milk. I go back through the drive through and explain I just ordered a latte can I just purchase an extra shot because it tastes like watered down milk-- they charged me another $2.73 on top of the $4.75 I had already paid!! This has happed many times recently -- it's hit or miss. I have to say it's hard want to continue to support local when the customer doesn't feel supported either. What a beautiful shop! This was my first time going as my wife had raved about it. The coffee was very good and the breakfast burrito was delicious! The tortilla was 10/10. I frequent this place every time I am in Manhattan, always just to get some bread. I grew up buying bread every day at the local bakery, something seems to be a novelty in the USA. The bread is good so far, they are doing the best to rescue a traditional business. The drive truth is usually fast. However, one thing I do not like is the pastry and the drink, they are usually severe too and extremely hot, and some pastries are not as good as they suppose to. read more

I've been to both the west side and Aggieville locations with my dog (that is very well behaved) to come sit on their patio and enjoy their coffee. They refuse to let me enter with my dog at both locations and told me to go tie him up in the parking lot and come back in. They are very rude and unaccommodating to the many customers that come sit on the patio with the dog. Starbucks in Aggie Ville as well as Starbucks on the west side of Manhattan has always embraced me bringing my dog in while I grab my coffee and even prepare him his own little pup cup to go. It's very disappointing to try to support local businesses when they are very unaccommodating. read more

My roommates and I have religiously gone to Radina's Bakehouse one to two times a week since the beginning of the semester, but after my last experience I will not be giving them any more of my business. Of course I have had the occasional employee be rude to me, and even roll their eyes at me before, but this time it was the owner of the establishment. I was sitting next to a big table with 3 single moms and 5-6 toddler aged children, who were just being kids and talking lot/walking around the table. They had been there for about 40 minutes when the owner came out and began to reprimand them for "not controlling" their children and that they were "not good parents". He went on to compare his parenting styles to theirs and saying that his children would not do that. It was clear that the women were very uncomfortable and taken aback by this interaction so my roommate walked over and stood up to the owner. He continued to argue with the women and even my college-aged roommate. This is the most unprofessional interaction I have had and will not be going back. Better visit this time. Last at Claftin location wasn't. Best peanut butter cookies. But they're out of whip cream for coffee tonight?! I asked if I could have whip when I noticed it was missing and the girl looked around and told me they were all out of whip cream. Also, Had a sign on door that said 'sorry we'll be closing at 6:00 tonight' but they were open and it was after 6:00. I told the two girls working about the sign and they replied "Oh, that was from last night". We then sat down and drank coffee and ate cookies. Not busy at all but when we left I told the girls working that the sign was still on the door. They just said ok. Lol, it's amazing how they couldn't give a shit less about the place where they work. The baked goods here are very very good. If Radina's only offered their baked goods and drinks, I would give them five stars. However, they also serve sandwiches, and that is what brings the overall quality of this place down for me. I had the turkey and Brie sandwich, which had no taste of turkey or Brie. My sandwich was saturated with apricot jam. The somewhat dry sliced bread was permeated with it. I tried to wipe some off on the plate, but it was too soaked in to the bread. It was supposed to come on sourdough according to the menu, but instead it came on either multigrain or wheat and nothing was said about this by the staff. My husband ordered the Turkey Bacon which was just very plain. Our daughter had the Turkey Pesto sandwich and did not like it. I would absolutely come here again for baked goods and tea, but we won't eat lunch here again. read more

The bakehouse is in a great location and the staff is always friendly! Unfortunately if you go inside the line is usually pretty long and you will wait 15 to 20 minutes. As far as coffee and pastries go it is delicious but I wouldn't recommend their lunches. I had their turkey and brie sandwiche and it was inedible which is basically impossible for me. As an avid chai tea latte lover, they do have the best in town so if you love those as well this is a must. If you are in a rush they have a drive through and their white chocolate banana muffin is to die for! read more

I have been to Radina's every single time I have been in Manhattan (ok it has only been three times...) and that will never, ever change because this local coffee shop has never disappointed. I haven't tried any of the pastries or fresh loaves of bread (what is wrong with me?!) but the coffee is great, and seriously, how can you not love their ceramic mugs? The atmosphere is nice for meeting friends or studying, it's dimly lit inside which might or might not suit your fancy and there are comfortable booths or tables whichever you might be in the mood for. Plus the location is great, and I always seem to end up at Radina's if I'm in the area and I have 30 minutes to kill. The quiche is tasty, filling, and seems like a healthy option to me! I ordered a hot chocolate this most recent visit, mostly because I didn't want to have coffee on an empty stomach, and wowie, it was tasty. They don't skimp on the whipped cream either. I had a few sips of the grasshopper, which wasn't quite as minty as I was expecting, but it was still good as a mocha drink. It is much appreciated that they have water set out with actual glasses (none of that plastic) so you don't have to bug the staff just to stay hydrated. Also the baristas are all super friendly and I always seem to have a conversation with them either while waiting in line, while ordering, or as they are making my drink. Love this place. read more

This bakery is priced fairly. They have fresh rolls for .50 and quite a lot of food and pastry selections for under $5. I went with a group of friends around 3pm on a Friday and we ordered beer and wine. The beer was $5 for a pint, which isn't outrageous especially at a coffee shop. My friend ordered wine and the glass had a huge lipstick stain on it. She asked if they could just pour the wine in a new glass, so they decided to pour it in a beer pint. That was odd. Who wants to drink wine out of a beer glass? So she asked them again to put it in a wine glass and the cashier looked confused. Everything was good once we sat down. My favorite place for local coffee!! I love that on mondays you can get a free espresso shot as well. As for food- this place is also great for a pastry or a sit down lunch. The house soup is incredible-order it and you will be happy you did. My favorite pastry is the almond croissant. YUM. I would eat one every day if I could. I've been purchasing coffee and food from Radina's Bakehouse for over 10 years. I've recently gotten a new job that has me going to work at 6am so I've been missing my Radina's lattes in the morning. This morning, after taking my pups to the dog park, I stopped by to get my favorite latte and ciabatta bread through the drive thru because I didn't want to leave my pups in the car by themselves. I found out that Radina's doesn't sale bread to drive thru customers because the customers slow down Radina's process. NOT because of safety concerns or anything else. They think that drive thru customers are too much of an inconvenience to sale bread to. So, basically, Radina's is DISCRIMINATING against drive thru customers. Some of those customers are handicapped, which would mean that Radina's is DISCRIMINATING against handicapped customers. Many of the handicapped customers are veterans (this is, after all, Manhattan - right next to Fort Riley, KS). So, it seems that Radina's is ALSO DISCRIMINATING against Wounded Veterans. I think at this point, more people should hold Radina's accountable for all the discrimination they are inflicting on their potential customers that they believe are worth their time. I'm so tired of any company that sees their customers as an inconvenience instead of a valued member of their community. SHAME ON YOU RADINA'S!!!!! Then I found out they deleted my point account that I had accumulated 45 points. Nice, Radina's. You have officially lost a VERY loyal customer. Coffee is good, fresh made bread is absolutely amazing! The seven grain is best wheat bread I've ever had. The jalapeño cheddar on Wednesdays only is worth putting on your calendar so you don't miss it and the ciabatta and baby ciabattas are so good I just eat them as a meal or snack. The breads and pastry are super! You cannot go wrong with this place if you like some true bakery items. I like their French Baguettes, and Kalamata Olive, and Multigrain. Daily Pastry items are freshly baked daily. Variety of Scones and Croissants are my favorite. Coffee, on the other hand, are below average comparing to other coffee stores in town. Most of them are just plain and tasteless. I do believe dunkin donuts' and burger king's coffee taste better. Seating are very good and atmosphere is nice enough that you want to stay there longer. We went here twice when we were visiting family. The peanut bars are to die for, and the peppermint mocha are delicious. We also tried the sourdough bread and it was really fresh. My only issue is that on our second visit we just got in a seated and the gentleman who was working can to us at about 5:45 and said they were closing in 15 minutes. I was a little confused because everything I read said closing time was 7 pm. The bread and pastries are great, the coffee's fine, but their workflow is terrible. Maybe they need specifically assigned personnel and stations (bread station, sandwich/meal station, pastry station, coffee station) where you can place an order, and maybe get a ticket that you get filled out at each station or for each item that you can then hand to a cashier. I'm not a workflow expert, but they need to take a hard look at how they do it (I could see how just breads and pastries could have their own cash register). Also, they need to have regular checks on the bus tubs, the supplies, and table wipe-downs. The one in Aggieville works better because all your ordering happens in a smaller area. read more

NOT FAMILY FRIENDLY/MEDIOCRE DRINKS I'm all about exploring new food spots and had heard that Radina's has amazing bakery selections. I had come here with my 2 kids, a couple of friends and their kids, total of 3 adults and 6 children (ages ranging from 9 to 2). We were expecting our husband's to come home from a 9 month deployment and their arrival date got pushed out for the millionth time. We were all on edge and trying to make the best of it and keep busy. Once we got all our food/drinks, a few moments later, a man comes up and says that they're getting complaints that our kids were too loud. I was caught off guard, as we were able to carry a perfectly normal conversation amongst ourselves, but apologized for the disruption. I looked around and the cafe wasn't even full, maybe 4-5 other parties sitting in the main sitting area. I did notice that we were the only customers with kids. A few minutes later, my 2 year old starts running inside the cafe. I was attentively watching him and since there wasn't a lot of customers, I let him. The same man came up and said "Ma'am, you cannot have your kid doing that. I have people walking around here with hot drinks and food." Which normally I agree because the last thing I would want is a hot drink to spill on my son. But again, the cafe wasn't crowded, a couple of other parties had left. I was actively watching him and he was in no one's way. I've never felt so targeted and singled out as a mother. I told the man that this is not a family friendly place whatsoever. He disagreed. My friends and myself will not be going back there or to any of its locations. If you want a REAL FAMILY FRIENDLY cafe experience go to The House in Ogden. Better coffee/tea, they have a play space for the kids and there service is exceptional!! read more

As a new resident to Manhattan, I decided to give Radina's a chance as I was driving around the neighborhood. I ordered a mango smoothie and a cinnamon roll. The mango smoothie tasted horrible as if the ingredients used were expired. I immediately felt sick to my stomach and had to dispose of the smoothie after two sips. I had a horrible after taste in my mouth that I've never had before. I didn't know you could mess up something as simple as a smoothie but now I see that's not true in Radina's. Furthermore, the cinnamon roll was stale and bland as if it had been a leftover from an old batch of baked goods. Truly disappointed with my experience. read more

If you want European style bread that has a crispy crust, this is your go to place. I am German and have lived in the US for 20 years, this is the best bakery I have been able to find in the US that compares to a European bakery style. My go to is the honey oat, which is $4.50 a loaf - not sweet if the name worries you, but when fresh has the most amazing crispy crust. The sourdough bacon and, onion rolls, baguettes, and other breads are all very tasty. Other than bread they also make danishes, cookies, scones, muffins, brownies, and other treats. Their sausage breakfast burrito is also hearty and worth it. They also serve coffee obviously, and shakes with fruits or chocolate. Indoor and outdoor seating is comfortable, and family friendly. Location is close to where the Manhattan Farmers Market Is on Saturday mornings (10 minute walk roughly). Pro tip, when you buy a loaf of bread it will stay fresh longer if they dont preslice the bread. Also tastes crispy and better a few days later if you toast it for 30-45 seconds. The bread also lasts a really long time, I buy mine on Saturday and by the following Saturday (if there is any left) will still hold a few days. read more

Excellent pastries! I've had the danishes, fruit tarts, and quiches. Their toddy (cold brew coffee) is strong and delicious. A few weeks ago I tried it for breakfast while staying in a nearby hotel and I've been back almost everyday since. Their danishes are crispy, flakey, and perfect. Their danishes are the best I've ever had! Today, I got the last one. Flavors I've tried and can recommend: blueberry and cheese. Truly great bakery! If it wasn't for the yummy bread, I'm not sure I would visit Radina's much. Their coffee is largely tasteless (if you like the flavor of coffee), though the milk is high-quality. What I do buy a lot of here is bread - at least weekly to the tune of at least $4.50-10 a week. However, every time I leave, my blood pressure is so high. The staff is pleasant enough, but the inefficient workflow is maddening when you just go in to buy a loaf and get it sliced. You stand by the bread area and some customers pass you to go to the cash register to order drinks? Food? Food and drinks and pastries? No one knows the protocal. Some people stand behind you even if they don't want bread and we all wait... There is no longer a cash register by the bread and I have no clue why this was taken away. Now I have a whole wheat loaf in my hand and a line of people in front of me. Did I mention someone can also get chocolates and can check on their rewards balance and can get a to-go container and on and on.... The other day, I wanted bread, a pastry AND a sandwich. I got my bread sliced from one employee, I moved down a tad because the clerk didn't ask me if I wanted anything else and another employee got my to-go pastry and then, even though I have a menu in my hand like I'm going to order something else, I'm told to order the food at the cash register 3 people deep. Meanwhile, the sandwich maker isn't doing much. She could have been making my sandwich! I finally get up there to order my sandwich and pay for everything and then they ask me if I want a drink. Umm..even if I did, I'm not going to wait for that after already being in this ridiculous loop of inefficiency. I never get out of here in under 15 minutes for a friggin' loaf of bread. The coffee is good...so are the pastries and bread. However, the part about the customer needing to heat their own quiche or breakfast burrito is rather annoying. You'll need to watch you don't get passed up on and have someone behind you get waited on first (e.g. you're waiting at the register and some other person comes well after and stands where the bread is displayed). This would be what happened to me...saw several employees behind the counter and no one said anything to me for the 5 minutes I stood where you're suppose to order. It was after the girl started waiting on the lady at the bread display and came over to the register to...yep ring her out, that she realized I had been standing there). Perhaps she thought I came in through the other door? No idea...but it certainly is something that is very annoying cause she walked right passed me when she went to the lady looking at the bread. For the reference, there were four employees behind the counter who were more engrossed in what they were doing to not look up and at least greet the customer. I did hear a mumbled sorry as the girl quickly rang out the lady who came in after. For a good example of how a manager or employee should handle a problem, see my review of Bianki's. I don't mean getting the food free, but just the mannerisms of the employee in their honest attempt to correct a screw up. As a manager myself I could care less about an occasional screw up, shit happens. Likely one of the most terrible experiences I've had in my life when it comes to customer service. While I understand I should be courteous to others, I was in a unique situation and engaged in a conference/court call. Apparently, my volume was too loud and sadly my ear buds were stolen prior to said conference. (So I was already in a terrible mood). At this coffee shop, an ugly toad who advised he was the " owner of the coffee shop" approached me and demanded i turn down my volume. Keep in mind, everyone was yelling and screaming and the terrible music was very loud. The man then threatened me with rude names and warned he would shut my computer down for me. If you value customer service and friendliness avoid this place and don't give this ugly man a dime of your hard earned money. A word of advice to the "owner" recognize people are in a unique situation and perhaps pass them a note in the future. Also, as a business owner I would think he would have a better brain but perhaps that's why he is 60+ years old and still working in a coffee shop in the middle of nowhere. I have to agree with Kat W.'s review. The fantastic food made up for the questionable service (overflowing bus stations, overflowing trash, missing silverware, no napkins, empty water station, getting coffee orders wrong, forgetting coffee orders, no foam in the coffees) but now there's no reason to go here anymore. I used to get the Italiano all the time with a salad, I got it this past Saturday and it may have had a quarter of the meat it used to have. Not only that but I don't want a side drink! Sure the sandwich is a dollar cheaper now but I just want the salad back with the awesome dressing! I used to go do work there too and I got real tired of the same playlist they had going. At least at the Radina's in the business building on campus I'd get to hear different music and sometimes even 90s music. Anyway, the food is what kept me coming back but that's over now!
