Review of Naugatuck Valley Surgical Center…read more My experience with Naugatuck Valley Surgical Center was extremely disappointing and unacceptable. I was scheduled for eye surgery this morning, arrived on time, and was blindsided by being told my surgery was cancelled. The reason they gave was that I hadn't taken my medications correctly. This is not true. Weeks before my surgery, I went through the required pre-operative physical. During that appointment, I was given a strict list of what medications to take the day before surgery and the day of surgery. I followed those directions exactly as instructed. To make matters worse, the information given to me verbally, the printed list I was sent home with, and the instructions I was told on the morning of surgery all conflicted with one another. On the day of my surgery, they suddenly told me I should have stopped one of my medications two days earlier and that proceeding could be "very dangerous." If that's true, it should have been crystal clear from the very beginning. Patients should never be left guessing between three different sets of instructions. This was not just an inconvenience--it was a major disruption to my life. In preparation for surgery, I followed every instruction: I fasted and I made the 40-minute drive to the center. After checking in and going through the stress of preparing for surgery, I was told only at that point that my procedure was cancelled. I then had to turn around and drive another 40 minutes home. To be treated this way, after taking every precaution and doing everything I was told, is both disrespectful and irresponsible. Patients deserve so much better. We deserve: Clear, consistent medical guidance that does not change depending on who we speak to or when we arrive. Reliable and professional organization, so that dangerous mistakes and last-minute cancellations do not happen. Respect for our time, health, and effort. Patients make sacrifices--fasting, arranging transportation, and mentally preparing for surgery. To have all of that dismissed due to disorganization is unacceptable. A basic level of accountability. Confirming appointments and ensuring instructions align should be their job--not something patients have to chase or piece together on their own. This facility's disorganization caused unnecessary stress, wasted time, and put me at risk. If this is how they handle something as critical as surgery preparation, it raises serious questions about how they manage patient care overall. I hope they address these issues for future patients.

They were beyond compassionate, gentle & put me at ease from the moment I walked in the door. Note: I suffer from anxiety & panic attacks but didn't have any episodes during my visit. In my experience, it was 1000% true that the prep was so much harder than the actual exam.

This woman is absolutely incredible!…read more I've been to both of her offices and the staff is amazing, so friendly, compassionate. They make the place feel very 'home' like, even on the phone! Both offices are pleasant, thorough, relaxing and efficient. I approached Dr. Breakstone after seeing a doctor I didn't trust. My old doctor catered to the kind of families that have ten kids and counting, the waiting room was always full, I waited for up to an hour or more after my appointment time every time, mixed up my paperwork and ultrasounds more than once, and the closest 'emergency' appointment I could be seen at took a month to book. Dr. Breakstone's office was nothing like that: she saw me immediately, sat me down for a thorough talk, a get-to-know before ever asking me to get changed, went completely over my medical history and problems, understanding how nervous and unsure I was of a new doctor after leaving the one I did. But she was WONDERFUL. Through every visit she listens, respects every patient, really takes the time to explain options and procedure, and I've recommended her to every woman I can, all that say the same things I am here. Without her I would still be a hormonal mess and still in so much agony. I highly recommend her, especially for first-time patients!

I have never been to a doctor's office where it is so unprofessional. When I 1st went there, it was…read morerun the right way but it has since gone downhill. There are 2 Doctors that were the most unprofessional-Dr Sofia Christakos & Dr Karolina Cichocka. The office gives random urine drug test. I really don't understand how but I had a urine test come back positive for cocaine when I was seeing Karolina. She called me a drug addict. So, I stopped seeing her& saw Phil & Alyssa who were very professional with me. But most of the great professional didn't last long working there. So, when Phil & Alyssa left, I saw Sofia who told me I had another urine test come back positive. I do not do cocaine & asked for a blood test & a hair follicle test which she refused. She insisted that I did do cocaine & all I needed was 1 more positive & I would be put on weekly tests. I had no problem with that. Prior to today's appointment, I received a text to arrive at 9:20 for my 9:40am appointment & I did. I could sense something was up when I arrived. I was given a Urine cup. But I asked to speak to Sofia about that cause I had been having alot of falls the last month due to my Parkinson's. I was still learning how to transfer from wheelchair to toilet to bed ect. So, I was given a tablet to do some mind tests. It was almost 10am & I still wasn't seen by Sofia & the place was empty so I spoke up & asked if I could go in, now. Sofia, in front of the staff stated she will not see me until I did the urine test. I explained I needed to talk to her 1st. My husband wanted to accompany me. The girl in the back office points to him & says that he is behaving hostile & is not allowed in the entire office. My husband wasn't hostile at all. Sofia says to have my husband help me give a urine test. My husband states that the conversation was supposed to be only between me & the doctor. Everyone that worked there was involved or overhearing this conversation that was supposed to be doctor/patient confidentiality. When she finally agrees to hear me out, I went to her office & I closed the door. She, then says I had another test come back positive. I was like, that couldn't be. I swore on my kids & grandkids which I would never do if I was lying!! She refused to refill my scripts & wanted to send in suboxone. I told her I was discharging myself & I threw the urine cup on the chair. I can't be accused of doing something I absolutely know is untrue. I, did offer, again, to do a blood test or even a hair follicle again but Sofia stated I know you did it. I left & started thinking why have me arrive early, do those dumb tests on the tablet & ask me for my ID & insurance info that they already had? As we were waiting for our transportation, the receptionist passed by & I told her Good luck & that she was the nicest of the entire staff...I don't deserve to be treated the way I was by both Karolina & Sofia-totally unprofessional!!!

Dr. Cue has been the primary pediatrician for my children since we moved to Middletown (almost 3…read moreyears). The parking lot is large with a ton of handicap spots. I love the waiting room at this pediatrician's office. There is a special area for the sick children and tons of toys in both areas. We usually get called in rather quickly and the wait in the room is no longer than I normally expect it to be. Dr. Cue and the rest of the doctors and nurses in this practice make an effort to have a cheerful disposition and respectful approach. This office is very modern and and uses many new technologies. I appreciate all the in office tests they are able to do and get done quickly. We have not had any issues with flu shot shortages here either. This office is always bright, clean, organized, and full of positive energy. We are so extremely happy here.

Our grandson was a patient at HFSC a little over a year ago, discharged with promises of follow up and NOTHING. He has been hospitalized three more times for the same challenges, never again accepted at HFSC and the outpatient day program which has been promised, then slow rolled with delay excuses which made little sense and now after an 8 week wait that was supposed to be 3 we shall see how it will go. His challenges far exceed a clipboard and stickers for treatment but that's all he's gotten so far.

My referral was sent several weeks ago, and after being told it was waiting for a doctor's review, I did not receive a decision for another three weeks. When I was finally contacted, I was informed that the referral had been denied because the testing was considered not medically necessary. While I understand that not every referral will be accepted, my biggest concern was communication. It was extremely difficult to get in contact with anyone by phone, and I spent a significant amount of time trying to reach the office for updates. The long wait times and lack of communication added unnecessary stress during an already difficult process. If you are considering this practice, be aware that you may experience delays in receiving updates and may have difficulty reaching staff by phone.
