I just started going to this studio for a high cardio dance class. The location is great, right off union square, and the staff are very friendly. I used to go to this class at Club One (Fillmore Center) and it was cancelled for a while as the ownership of the gym transferred to Fitness SF. I was excited to find out that the class has moved here. It's such a great workout. My only problem with the studio is space. For a class with more than 10 people, it gets a bit too crowded (especially when you are all moving around)... read more

This place is amazing! So far I tried the barre and abs express, both with Jessica, and she's my most favorite instructor rn. The studio itself is super clean, they have scented candles in the locker room, a water machine and on my first class they were handing apple slices out (say whaaa)!! This studio is an awesome space with a great community for busy people looking to exercise or learn how to dance! I haven't taken the workout classes so I cannot speak to those. I say this with no hate: do not come here for DANCE classes if you're an experienced dancer. Ive been dancing for 19 years with a background in ballet, jazz/contemp, Latin, and hip hop. I was looking to take some fun choreography classes that would get me moving again. I ended up feeling like I got very little out of the class since it moved so slowly and the choreography was basic even in the advanced classes. For the high prices, it's not worth your time if you're a seasoned dancer. The classes are geared toward people with little to no dance experience. In my opinion, Ashley Worley's heels class is the only one that's worth it but it's an extra charge. That being said, this is an incredible environment to get into dance/exercise for beginners! If you're looking for a judgement free zone to learn how to do something new, I HIGHLY encourage you to give this a shot :) read more

I started coming to RAE in December of 2017 and look forward to my visit every week! I enjoy dancing but have never been great at choreo. This has completely changed since coming to RAE. While it's a boutique studio, the energy and passion that these instructors have is bigger than life. I regularly attend Brooke's Yoga Flow class followed by Twerk Camp with Feliciano -- I've never been so excited for Mondays to come around until now. You'll come out of each class having learned something new, feeling stronger and a little more confident. I sometimes find myself dancing in my kitchen afterwards because I can't shake the catchy dance moves we just learned. I've also tried Barre Bootcamp, PiYo, Hip Hop Abs, Pilates Pump and Queens in Heels. EVERY class I've taken, I've wanted to come back to -- there just isn't enough time in the week sometimes! While trying out RAE for the first few weeks, I used to purchase the double up passes to get my money's worth ($20 for 2 classes in a day = $10 per class). This deal is SO hard to beat in SF/the Bay in general. I've since then purchased the monthly unlimited pass for $110 a month and it's motivated me to come more often, not just to ensure I get the most bang for my buck but because I have the opportunity to try different classes when I want to throughout a month. My only piece advice would be to sign up as early as you can when you know you can take a class. The studio is small and classes fill up frequently. Sometimes classes will get too crammed, which is unfortunate because you may feel like you can't go all out. I will say that this hasn't been enough of a problem to keep me from coming! read more

Today was my first dance class at Rae Studios and I loved it!!! It is a beautiful, modern and clean studio. Great place to unwind and distress after a long day at work! The staff are very welcoming and friendly. Ashley Worley's Heels class is amazing. I am not a great dancer but the support given by Ashley and the other girls motivated me to confront my fears of dancing in front of audiences. Thank you ladies! I've been so impressed at how they adapted to the new reality and the Zoom classes are super high quality. I love all of the dance fitness classes - there are lots of classes for "real" dancers but for those of us who are not as coordinated but want a good workout, there are lots of cardio classes as well! read more

I first started at this studio about a year ago, granted the Holiday special deals got me going, but I stayed consistent because of two things: 1) Hip Hop Abs class kicks my butt every week. It's such a great work out and Jessica makes it so much fun! 2) You can really feel the community that has been built by the team and the students. They have a variety of classes offered from belly dancing, cardio kickboxing, yoga to ballroom, all that I have sampled. There's something for everyone. When the new studio opened this year I was so excited for the additional space. They now have a changing area and small pantry area you can hang out in. Recently after a sweaty hip hop abs class I noticed that someone left some sliced up pineapple to be enjoyed by the students. I found that to be a super cute hospitality touch. This is a very nice studio in downtown SF. The floor and mirrors are really nice and there are large windows, though the studio is on the smaller side. You can save a few dollars per class by booking in advance online. There are a lot of interesting sounding classes, like Twerkology, etc. I went for "Global Rhythms", which was like Zumba but harder to follow. The teacher was friendly enough and the mix of music was great. I found the choreography a little hard to follow, and I have extensive dance experience. Perhaps another teacher could be better? With 8 of us, it didn't feel too crowded but 12 would have been a bit uncomfortable. I would go back if it were convenient to my schedule, but I didn't leave feeling an overwhelming desire to repeat that class. read more

Great studio! The building is in the heart of SF and sets the vibe with the energy of the city ! They have a variety of classes and are always adding new ones! The community is by far the best part- everyone loves to dance and have a good time which makes the classes really enjoyable. Staff is welcoming and helpful which goes a long way. All levels, all bodies, all backgrounds which is such a nice change from typical studios you encounter. They have online and in person classes which has been a great option throughout Covid! I recommend everyone try a class- yes it can be intimidating- but everyone starts somewhere! I was introduced to Rae Studios through Airbnb on their list of experiences to be had in SF! And boy, am I glad I discovered this dance studio! We did a hip hop class that was two hours long. It included light bites and refreshments, warm-up, choreography, costumes, and a music video. There was even a backdrop for us to take pictures! Luckily, I was there with my roommate and her sister, or I may have felt uncomfortable loosening up. However, since that night, I've gone to two more classes, twerkology and strip tease, solo and had an easy time getting comfortable. Everyone at the studio is super friendly and the instructors teach to the level of their students. I've never been much of a dancer, but now that I've bought a 10-pack of classes, I could be a dancer after all! read more

I love the variety of classes here and there are so many classes on the schedule, it's easy to go after work or on the weekend. You'll learn some dance moves, and get a great workout. I found Rae on ClassPass and I really love the studio! All of the workers are very friendly and make you feel comfortable. I've done their H.I.I.T. and their Cardio Kickboxing. Both great work outs! Did I miss something here? I just took a class here through ClassPass (which I do love), and I honestly think the only reason I worked up a sweat in their Tuesday evening Cardio Dance class is because they obviously allowed the class to overbook and it was PACKED. The people running the studio (I believe one is the owner Jessica, and another young lady) were very nice and organized when I checked in. However, the space itself is tiny, and there is very little storage for your personal belongings, which also becomes an issue because of class size. Allie (the instructor) was very nice, and did her best to break down the choreography for the newcomers to the class, but I have also experienced better; I think if she used 8-counts (which is standard for most dance/dance cardio classes) and talked through the moves more throughly, it would be far easier to pick up the sequences and actually enjoy the class. It's still pretty basic moves, and if you have any prior dance experience, you will likely zone out a bit because you'll settle into the rhythm of the class. It's obvious that this studio has its followers, and they love to stand right in the first row and give kind of a show-off attitude for everybody else taking the class. Frankly, I was not impressed at all with this class, and won't be returning, despite the fact that it was implored at least twice that you should come three times in order to really get the most out of class. If you are on classpass, there are other/better classes in the city where you can both dance and/or get your sweat on. read more

Rae Studios is a fun studio that offers plenty of class and instructor variety. Some classes are better than others, so you just have to try some things out and see what works for you. Since Rae Studios is on a bunch of discount apps (Classpass, Zenrez, and currently Groupon), you can easily buy a package pretty cheaply ($5-10/class). CLASSES - Dance and Tone with Yue- my favorite class! So much fun, works up a sweat, and Yue has great energy. This class is 20 mins cardio dance, 10 mins weights, and 30 mins non-stop choreo. - Cardio Dance with Allie- only tried once, but wasn't as fun as Dance and Tone. - Barrelates with Kelsi- brand new class and taught well, but definitely a beginner barre class. 20 mins mat pilates, 20 mins at the barre, 20 mins core. - Pop Jam with Jessica- all choreo to learn a routine. Pretty fast-paced, but Jessica is so good that it makes me want to try harder, even when I have no idea what I'm doing. - Hip Hop Happy Hour with Roberto- I found the moves to be a little too repetitive and had a hard time hearing the instructor over the music. Because of so much variety, everyone will find different things that work for them. They are constantly trying new class formats, so even if something doesn't seem great now, check back in a few months. INSTRUCTORS My experience has varied a lot depending on the instructor. Some are higher energy than others. The only downside across the board is that classes often don't start/end on time. STUDIO Located on the 7th floor of a building in Union Square (right next door to Ruby Skye). Like most historic buildings in SF, the building has an interesting smell and a super slow elevator, but the small studio is a pretty comfortable space. Shared bathroom on the floor that is not the nicest, so probably come dressed and ready to go. Dance classes require shoes. Barre classes are barefoot. read more

I should have written this review a long time ago but RAE Studios ROCKS. I feel very welcomed every time I come for their classes thanks to their wonderful staff (especially Roberto- such a sweetheart). I am rating this studio 5 stars based on the few classes I have tried here but mainly for their total body conditioning class on Saturdays. If you really want a class that will kick your a$$, this is the class for you. I have no core strength at all and this class is pretty hard lol. Jessica is great at keeping you motivated throughout the entire class so it definitely deserves 5 stars. read more

Safe to say, this is where you can find me every Saturday morning doing one of the following: grinding, pumping, crunching, twerking, panting. It's a small studio, but I always prefer a small, cozy place with fewer people and more focus rather than a huge place where you can get lost in the crowd. I've done two classes here till date and have loved them both! Hip hot abs with Jessica Rae: She is fun and her enthusiasm is contagious. A great tracklist of songs promises to start your weekend grooving. Cardio dance with Feliciano: A hip hop style cardio class. Again, love the energy and the enthusiasm. Learnt a part dance step that I can actually use on a variety of songs and feel cool :P He is going to have a Twerking class next Saturday, which I cannot wait to attend! I'm always on the lookout for staying fit while having fun and really getting to unwind, this studio surely is high up on my list. read more

They've got some purely fitness-related classes but also a great selection of dance classes as well! On top of all of that, their recent renovations gave them way more space and made the space such an awesome place to chill as you wait for your class to start. This is my sanctuary when I have the need to get my dance, fitness, and sexiness on! My class of choice of the moment are the twerk classes! Feliciano is amazingly talented and brings a no judgment class. The students are mixed level but the class isn't intimidating at all. It's pure fun and encourages your inner fierceness to come out! Plus, it's the only one of its kind in SF. He breaks down how to move. We twerk it out for a bit. Then learn a short dance sequence. And then twerk that until the end of class. Great workout, especially on the legs, and I always come out with a dance high! I'm passed the going out to club phase. So this is my one hour of partying for the week esp. without the creepers. ( A personal plus is I'm a Chicago native, and this class somehow reminds me of home. ?? Just does. ) Style is more fierce than ratchet ;) Great for beginners and seasoned dancers. Seriously a fun, welcoming class. He teaches 'Twerk Party' and 'Twerkology'. I've tried other classes and they're awesome. All promoting sexy confidence, in my opinion. They do record your moves at the end of class and post it on their social media. You could absolutely opt out, but I don't mind it. Helps me figure out if I'd like to try a different class in the future , and it's pretty cool to show off to my friends. Friendly staff! Amazing class!!! First time taking kick boxing and it was literally the perfect class! Jessica knows how to make the "perfect pour," like the "perfect cup; just enough: Rhythm, dance beats, kick boxing, you learn it all and it's so fun! -- 50 minutes of the perfect sweat with a passionate instructor not to mention the studio is breathtaking. This is a fun studio with a variety of classes offered that seemed welcoming of all levels. My friend and I took the cardio burlesque class when I was in town visiting for the weekend. The regular teacher was out so the owner was subbing and taught a portion of her Master Class burlesque routine. While I have 0 dance experience, I felt welcome and no one seemed to mind me and my friend's greenness. I think Twerkology will be the next class we try when I'm in town. read more

Rae Studios is fantastic. The classes are super fun and high energy for the cardio classes with great music. The instructors are universally welcoming, extremely competent, and very patient. I've taken a range of classes in terms of style and they have all been great. There are two studio spaces with nice wood floors, mirrored walls, good natural light and windows that are usually open so there is pretty good ventilation. The cardio classes are a mix of dance and exercise. Checkin is easy and organized and everywhere is well kept. read more

Rae Studios is a slice of heaven! I love walking into the beautiful studio space after a long day of work and dancing all my stress away. As someone with no prior dance experience I started by only taking the cardio and fitness classes. (Hip Hop Abs+ and Barre Bootcamp with Jessica, Cardio Fusion with Jeremy, and Zumba with Jeannie are a few of my favorites!) However the welcoming and encouraging energy brought to every class by the instructors and students alike quickly made me feel comfortable stepping out of my comfort zone and trying dance technique classes as well (Dancehall Grooves with Libby, and Hip Hop with Jeremy and J.J.), which have become some of my favorite classes at Rae! My week now involves a mix of both, and while I'm definitely not a world class dancer yet I've grown so much since I started. I really can't recommend Rae Studios highly enough to anyone looking for a great space to work out, meet new people, and have a great time! read more

Tuesday night strip tease with Jayde makes you feel sexy. She does the routine in 2 week spurts so I'd recommend asking which week it is for her before coming... If you come for the second week only you miss the first part of the dance. She picks great songs & will go over the moves as many times as the class needs. At the end you put it all together a few times & then the lights go down so you can really give it your all without worrying about how you look. Oh, and at the very end she does the routine by herself ... Kills it. #goals I've done Pilates fusion here with kelsi too & that was also a great class. I love Rae Studios! Found them on groupon and was immediately hooked after one class! I must say the instructors at Rae Studios are super friendly and they genuinely want to get to know the students. I did not come from a dance background and literally have no rhythm but I love hip hop music and Rae studios plays all the newest music from Pop to Hip hop to Latin Dance Party. Aside from the music, the choreography can range from easy to immediate, but the more you come the easier it gets. Also, I always forget that I'm working out here because usually I'm sweating up a storm doing the dance moves. And a quick disclaimer, I really like how all the students are on the same level, there are a few that are dancers but majority is just there to dance and have fun. My favorite classes: Dance + Tone with Yue (she is amazing! super friendly, easy going, and motivating). I have been coming to Rae Studios for about a year on & off. My favorite class is Wednesday's Hip Hop Abs with Jessica. You will definitely sweat and have lots of fun! Clean, cute, convenient location in the heart of SF. I've taken a couple classes here and staff was mostly friendly except for an annoyed looking woman receptionist. I had a strange interaction the first time I went and then after a heels dance class she rudely interjected before the teacher was finished teaching, encouraging us to take a different class if we didn't like the class. Awkward! I LOVE the idea of a dance agency in San Francisco and I was going to apply but their dancers told me they weren't getting good dance jobs. Otherwise the classes are fun! read more
