Booked a private party here for a dance class, and it was very well done! Christina was our instructor, and she was fabulous!! Very kind, patient, and energetic!! The process of signing up for the class was a breeze, and communication was always fast and reliable with employees. The studio itself was pretty spacious, with cubbies in a hallway to put personal items as well as a large bathroom. The dance floor itself had around 5 poles and places to sit. Everything was clean! The class itself was 2 hours and started off with an introduction, mindfulness exercise, and connection exercise. We then stretched and moved gradually on the floor and across the floor. Christina then taught us some basic pole dancing moves, and eventually taught an entire routine. At the end, we learned another dance and she performed a routine for us, which was fantastic!! This studio is actively changing my life as a woman. I came to the studio through a friend who shared with me that she was in an "erotic dance group for women". Little did I know when I arrived, it was pole dancing! I met with Kerry Anne for a private orientation and was open to the movement and my body LOVED IT. It's been 3 months since and my main teacher, Brianne, is just an incredible gem and goddess. I've been going to this studio for over 2 years. I really enjoy the community that has been built. There are women of all ages, shapes, sizes, strength levels, complexions who have been going to the studio for a long time. I'm over 40, not white or a waif. I love coming to this studio for class as often as I can. I've had a host of physical challenges over the time I've been taking class and the instructors have been supportive in giving me modifications for the moves I can't do, while also being encouraging. My experience was unfortunately a poor one. I've been really looking forward to getting into pole dancing classes. So I called up Sheila Kelly S Factor I spoke to a genuinely nice girl on the phone, she recommended I don't buy the 2 month Groupon, that I should get the buy one get one class free promotion.. So that's what I did. I get to the class the instructor had me and 5 other girls in her beginner class, she really held no instruction more like a guide to help us "stretch" and basically do yoga for over an hour. If you want to become more in touch with your feminine side great, but I felt like it was shoved down my throat and made me feel uncomfortable. Especially at the end where they sat us down trying to get us to enroll in their 12 month agreement ect. read more

I have been with this studio for approximately 8 years now. I love this studio because it's not what people expect when they hear pole dancing and fitness. Let's be clear first and foremost. This is not a pole fitness studio, and dancing is only part of its studio's purpose. Sheila Kelley S Factor studio is founded on the principle of women empowerment. It's for women to be in touch with all their glory, the good and bad in all aspects of your feelings, personality and physical self. This studio's mission is really to embrace and love who you are as a woman. I'm not that in touch with my feminine self, so this studio helps me embrace and enhance this side of myself. Majority of time is spent on getting your core strength in, being in touch with one self through various dance movements, and then the actual dancing to provide your artistry and to be seen and "felt" as a woman. I personally find the pricing to be on par or slightly cheaper than all the other studios I've been to. This is, of course, taking advantage of the annual membership and keeping an eye on your own finances. In addition, the membership gives you 1 guaranteed class a week and unlimited access to others. Only drawback I have is getting into the classes around my crazy work schedule and classes being full. You also can take any classes at their other Sheila Kelley studios! read more

Interesting place. We came from all parts of the country to celebrate a birthday and the first thing we hear one of the workers say "oh, are they staying the entire time?" Me thinks so ma'am, we paid hundreds of dollars to come here. Instructor asked staff if "they were going to leave us with her by herself". I was indeed offended. Instructor kept telling us to be quiet and that she's not gonna burst her vocal Cords to talk to us lol. 40 minutes of stretching for an 1 1/2 hour class; lol ok. All in all, seems like it does not cater to the brown skinned lady, if you know what I mean. Sad. read more

Bad instructors. Took me a long time to write this as I had mixed feelings about my experience at S Factor. Classes started out fun, but as I moved up levels, the instructors got worse. I remember I hit my head SLIGHTLY during a practice and this instructor screamed at me as if I was going to sue the place or something. I told her my head was fine and I'd barely felt a thing but she decided to stand and point at me in front of everyone in the class & yelled about how I was being irresponsible? However be careful when you signed up annual membership, its go 13 months, not 12 months, and charged every 4 weeks, not monthly. They keep charging my credit card eventhough already passed annual membership as I know as 1 year = 12 months (not 13 months), that ended March 2019, no reminder, or inform the student it will roll over, forever...?! until we cancel ? I didn't know that. Actually I told front desk staff in February or early March 2019, that I wouldn't continue membership & I knew my membership expired sometimes on end of March 2019, I told her pls don't charge me anymore for April 2019 & future since I am done membership, I also emailed the studio but got reply to send email the owner. I am not even go to classes since March 2019, then I emailed the owner which very slow to get respond, 1-2 weeks after, its confusing me should I go to classes since they keep charging me, however I was expecting to get credit back or don't get charged because I told the staff already in advance & emailed I don't want continue membership. The classes & some instructors are really nice, but this studio charged like sharks, they don't care when I informed I don't want continue membership in advance in February/March, I feel there bit games to respond to me slow & ignored my request when the charges on my card was keep going on, they charged me until the 14th months actually, I already told them in advance (beginning of the month = 30 days before), and I feel enough once or twice informed them, no need few emails then had to wait if I get reply from owner, waited until all the days almost passed for another payment again, I don't feel right about it, a member shouldn't have restrictions or problem when wanted cancel/Not renewing membership. read more

I love this place. I get a fantastic and fun workout all while meeting great women. Everyone I've met is genuinely nice and supportive of each other. The classes consist of about an hour long yoga/Pilates style warm-up, then they teach a couple of pole tricks and then a routine. This format is perfect for me because I was intimidated by the pole, at first, and was much more interested in the dancing portion. I've taken a pole class at a different location with no warmup and I was just so sore and bruised afterwards. These classes taught me how to get out of my racing mind and help me find peace and clarity. I never felt judged for not feeling an immediate magnetic connection to the pole. I've gained a community and really feel seen and lived in this place. I do also have to say, I love this place so much that I just became a teacher here. I hope to see you one day! read more

Sometimes in life you are faced with situations where you want to stay and face the challenge on one hand and run out of the door screaming on the other. This was such a situation for me. I had done a class in 2014 so this was as good as new. Brooke (the instructor) was warm, friendly and the way she moved was truly inspirational. She made the moves seem so easy and flowy, but that mirage was broken the second I got to the pole. Well, I would have blamed the dancers and the instructors for making it seem easier than it actually is, but I now know better. You need tremendous upper body strength and mine is equivalent to that of a sloth (sorry), but the cheering students and Brooke helped me nearly get there with a few steps, Firefly and a Chair (?). I'm so glad I pushed through, with help of course. Overall I was very happy with the location, the decor, ambiance and feel of the class. The vibe was so uplifting and positive, even though I was new and awkward and the rest of the group (who were of higher levels) danced like a dream. Almost 2 years ago, a good friend came over raving about S Factor and about transformative it is. I was skeptical. How could pole dancing be empowering, life-changing, or at all in sync with my feminist values? With enough coaxing, I joined a Girlfriends class with her. The rest is history. The lower-level classes give you a foundation of the movement, familiarity in your own body, and a sense of community - all while building up the number and difficulty of pole tricks. I took 2 introductory classes with Megumi and Brianne. Both were phenominal tecahers, but I did enjoy Brianne's class more due to all the people being on the same level, so there was more time for our level instead of the teacher having to teach each level a different thing. It's such an enjoyable experience from start to finish. Mind, body, and soul. Dark lighting and no mirrors help set the tone to free yourself from any negative thoughts. It's expensive. There's no getting around it. I've tried shopping around and in the end, it just costs a lot to maintain the poles so they are safe, so you just gotta accept it. read more

I have been going to classes for almost a month. I am 51 and have committed myself to a year of sfactor I plan to engulf myself in every aspect. I am not a gym type or class joiner. I can not say enough positive things about S Factor. I am 52 and have been taking classes now for 2.5 years. I had body issues my whole life and was never comfortable in my body and with my curves. S Factor has changed all that. It has become my temple - there is no other place like it. 3.5 i kept going back between 3.5-4 i had taken level 1 session at twirly girls in pleasanton years ago through a groupon deal.. ever since that i've been wanting to try pole classes again. i came across a deal on livingsocial for a 8 wk session and jumped on it. my friend bought me the livingsocial deal too so i was able to continue to the next level. so i took level 1-2 using the deals. when you start you are given the option to sign up for 1, 3, 6 sessions (you complete 1 level in the 8wk session and there are 6 levels). since i had already finished 2 levels, i wanted to finish all the levels before moving on to another studio. i signed up for 3 sessions after i was done w level 2. i took levels 1-4 consecutively then took a 10 month break before coming back to finish my last level of 3 session membership. by signing up for 3 sessions, it ended up being 219/month .. you get more of a discount if you sign up for 6 sessions s factor is a unique pole studio.. it doesn't focus on being technical but focuses on making students learn to feel comfortable in their own body. s factor celebrates women and wants them to become confident, explore being sensual and own your sexuality, build supportive sisterhood, and just overall self love. i am always self conscious of my body. i do owe it to s factor for helping me gain some confidence in my body. my friends noticed the confidence in how i walk and my posture. s factor women are in all sizes and age range. there were women 40+yrs who have been w s factor for a while and they are great at pole. it was really inspiring. the studio has 4 poles. there are no mirrors. the lighting is super dim and the lamps use red bulbs. each level class is 2 hrs long. the first 1hr is a warm up, the next 30 min is pole instruction and practice, last 30min is dance for each other. level 1-2 you learn a routine and continue to build upon it. once you're level 3+ you're free to move as you wish and bring in your own song to dance to. when it's time to dance, it's in a round robin style. i loved seeing everyone's pole dance style. i wish the warm up was shorter to 45min so we have 45min to learn and practice moves teachers i've had: pure dance 1: davina intro teaser: brooke level 1-3, 5: brianne level 4- brooke super pole: brianne make ups w becky, kerry anne, ilene, mandy, caitlin overall i had a positive experience but i'm ready to join a diff studio where it's more technical and less pricey. one of the s factor students also takes additional pole classes at another studio (i believe their other studio was entangle and sway). i'll most likely move to sf pole and dance (former studio botan), my stripper friend and her coworkers go to that studio and under the new ownership offers really affordable sessions and competition training. once i have enough saved up to start at a new studio, i want to train to compete in my first pole competition as a level 1 competitor. read more

I've been going to S Factor for the past 6 months. I originally signed up for the 24 week package but added an additional year because I can't live without it! It's far better than the gym. I was experiencing chronic pain in my lower back for two years before joining, and the S movement took all the pain out of my body- physical pain and emotional pain. I've learned to connect with my feminine core in a way that I never knew existed. This is a journey every woman should embark on to heal their body, heart, mind, and soul. Anyone who I call friend, knows that I am an S Woman - it's a big part of my life and something I'm passionate about. I've tried to recreate the magic at other studios, but there is simply no place like S Factor. The red lit room with no mirrors is my safe space, and it's literally the only place I get to let down my shields and show up exactly as I am in the moment. If you are a woman craving a body positive community of like-minded powerful women; if you are happiest out of your head and in your body; if spirituality and sensuality are synonymous for you; if you have a naughty side, a shy side, a playful side, a loving side, an emotional side...that's right EVERY woman needs something like this in their life. I'm a self employed yoga instructor without much disposable income, but S Factor is so vital to my living a full life that I make it a priority. I've been a member for something like 10 years! You will learn pole tricks, but it's not the focus. If you care more about where to place your hands to execute a "perfect" trick than what your heart and you are feeling, then this probably isn't the studio for you. Proceed with extra caution here ladies...they talk a good game and will sell you hard if you express any interest. You can't just come take an overpriced dance class here (oh no) no drop ins allowed...you have to commit to a year long contract and even then classes are $50 each. Furthermore it is NOT queer friendly, body positive, or at all what they pitch in the "Orientation" class. Perhaps there were better teachers but the one I got was rude when I asked for modifications for a hurt ankle and modification for larger women who can't lift their own body weight. Unless you are white or Asian or heteronormative 120 pound cisgender woman YOU WILL NOT BE TREATED KINDLY HERE. There are tons of other dance studios that support ALL people and don't glorify pole dance in such a disgusting way. Sheila kelli would be horrified they're using her name. NOI DONT WANT to listen to the same pussycat dolls song ever class. No I don't want to practice taking off a button down shirt for fitness. The owner is never there and changed the class schedule with no warning and expected me to move my life around to accommodate them. I'm traumatized and hurt by how they treated me there. Do you really love yourself? I mean, like really really love yourself. Do you feel comfortable with every curve, bone, and bump you feel when you trace your hands across your own body? Can you say openly and honestly that you love how you look? If no, you have a two choices 1. Spend money on a therapist who will make you sit down and tell him your life story. or 2. You can sign up for classes at S Factor and take a journey down a road of self discovery and acceptance in a way that is absolute fun. I, like most everybody, had no idea what I was signing up for when I first decided to commit to taking their two FREE introductory classes that they offer on their website. I was very surprised when I first walked in to a beautiful, clean, mirror-less studio. I will admit, my first class was difficult. It was only difficult because of me and my inability to keep my eyes closed and my hands on my curves. I walked away from my first class thinking about how hard it was for me to touch my own skin and how many men in my past I've allowed to touch it. I began to get a little frustrated with myself and decided to reclaim my body. With that, I signed up for the 48 week journey and started taking classes every Monday night. I also signed up for what they call "open access" which allows you to drop in to as many classes as you want throughout the month as long as it's a class you're qualified to take based on your level. I am now a level 3. I have lost 15 lbs and even bought a pole for my apartment. This whole self loving thing is addicting; not to mention the amazing support and love you get from all the instructors and fellow students. The community within S Factor is something I've never experienced. A group of women coming together finding self acceptance and love while supporting women doing the same thing. It's absolutely amazing. I highly recommend EVERYONE try out S Factor. After all, if you sign up for the two FREE introductory classes, you're only gaining something and losing nothing. Just be prepared to fall in love and commit to spending at least one night a week taking care of YOU. read more

The staff is always friendly and professional--from my email liaising with S ambassador, Melinda, to participating in a free trial class with the amazing instructor, Brenda--after which time I promptly signed up for the 48-week membership, as I was already hooked! All of the instructors that I have learned from (and, subsequently, grown as a dancer as a direct result of), including Becky, Brenda, Brianne, Brooke, Ilene, Jennifer, Mandy, and the extraordinary studio owner and my "home class" teacher, Kerry-Anne are all extremely supportive, inspiring, and authentic women. I go to quite a few classes here--averaging 4 per week--and can write with confidence that every instructor genuinely loves watching their students grow as dancers and as individuals. The friendships I have made here are invaluable and I cannot recommend this studio enough. I've been an S girl for 6 years now. I had a little break in between. Why? Why did I take a break?! My body craves S Factor everyday. Yes, I've tried other studios, but S is my home. Where else can I walk out the door and feel like a million dollar b#%$@? Their classes make me feel slinky, sexy, and bad ass. I love all the instructors and my fellow S chicks. I think one of my favorite things about S is we are taught how to do our pole tricks and dances with flow, and smooth transition. I don't think a lot of other studios focus on that. Dancing and letting your body just take you away while not "in your head" is an amazing thing to experience. Trust me, you'll walk out of the studio so fulfilled. read more

I have to admit I fell in love with S Factor from the day I did the intro! The instructors and staff were very welcoming. After a couple weeks, I was hooked. I was so hooked I wanted to come more than once a week ... so I started to take the class b4 my class also. Since i don't like going to the gym, I try to do at least 2 or 3 classes a week. As a hobby, I like trying different studios to c how they teach. Whether in the bay area or while on vacation. Every teacher from every studio ALL teach differently and I love exploring that. Yet, I have to admit, S Factor has "something" the others don't, the "journey" of ur EC (Erotic Creature). It's not something u can experience in a few classes. All the teachers help u from day 1. From the yummy warm up to the flow of pole tricks to the class assignments ... each part of each class help u discover/cultivate ur Erotic Creature. It doesn't happen right away but the journey to help that unfold in beyond amazing. I always tell my friends, "It's a totally different sense of femininity I've ever experienced" ... it can't be explained in words, u have to actually just go thru it to understand it. If I could live here I would. This studio experience is exactly what you hope it to be, a place to get in touch with what you love about yourself, feel super sexy, go a little (or a lot) wild. This is all out FUN. The energy of support is very strong, no mirrors, no judgement, no competition. I joined S Factor 8 months ago and after my first class knew I was about to go on a crazy beautiful journey. I was all in and signed up for my 48 weeks! That takes a lot for me to make a commitment to myself that large, but I'm telling you... The instructors I've had are some of the most empowered women I know, no doubt a reflection of what they teach - I highly recommend each of these ladies - Kerry Anne, Brooke, Brenda, Ilene, & Becky.
