I've now had two visits with this dermatologist and both experiences were extremely disappointing. During my first appointment, I arrived 10 minutes earlier than the 15-minute early check-in request but wasn't seen until over an hour and twenty minutes later. When the doctor finally came in, the consultation lasted barely 10 minutes. She didn't seem prepared -- I even overheard her asking the receptionist why I was there right before walking into my room, even though I'd already explained that when booking the appointment. There was no apology for the long wait, just a quick rundown of what products I should stop using and a push toward purchasing new ones she recommended. There was no thoughtful explanation behind those suggestions or a real examination of my skin. I gave it another chance and came back for a follow-up. Once again, I arrived early and waited over an hour and 30 minutes before having to leave. Unfortunately, the experience was just as disappointing and uninformative as the first time. Overall, the lack of respect for patients' time and the feeling of being sold to rather than cared for makes it hard to trust or recommend this practice. read more

I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS DR.ELYSE RAFAL!! ZERO STARS! Those of us who have allergies need to BEWARE OF RAFAL! I went to her for a dry, scaly, flat type, rash that continued to spread in several places on my body. I have eczema/autoimmune issues all my life-which was the first thing I told her. After two visits, I learned she was a QUACK! I do not recommend her because she totally misdiagnosed my condition. She even biopsied my rash and the result came back said it was a "mole". It isn't even round, nor does not resemble any mole! On the first visit, she recommended that I buy her ARSENALl of expensive PRODUCTS that caused hair fallout and my rash to spread even more. read more

Do not let the plain office fool you. I have been to very upscale, meticulously decorated offices and a pretty facade does not guarantee good results. Could her office use a makeover? Yes. I have been there twice, once it looked like it needed to be clean, the next time it was clean. Perhaps the office read other reviews. On that note, Dr. Rafael is extremely knowledgeable, has been involved in many studies and is current on research in her field. I checked the studies for myself. She has a line of products that she recommends, no one is forced to buy anything. I have tried many lines, Obagi, ZO, Skinceuticals to name a few. Her line is somewhat less expensive and especially great for sensitive skin. I have some of her products and like them, the gentle cleanser, retinol and sunblock for face ( 50+which can be difficult to find.). Bottom line, I trust her knowledge. read more

I have been to more than one Dermatologist in my day. I have to say that Dr. Elyse Rafal is truly wonderful. She is extremely knowledgeable in all different areas of concern from simple rashes to potentially more harmful pre cancerous lesions. She has been extremely skillful in removing several dark moles from my face without any scarring what so ever. Too many of us over expose ourselves to the sun without taking any precautions. It is so important to have yourself checked out annually for any changes or developments of the skin. Dr. Rafal is my go to person. In addition, there are any number of aesthetic procedures that are performed in her office. She is highly skilled and as an older woman, I couldn't be more please with the results. Her staff is wonderful, particularly the Nurse Aethetician, Lauren. Also for anyone that has eczema, I would not recommend to buy the products that they're selling at the office because you can find it in Target or other retails. Search it up and it's there. I have so much to say about my experience with Dr. Rafal, I truly do not even know where to begin. I had an amazing experience and I am so beyond thankful for her and her team. About a year ago, I began losing my hair due to extreme stress, poor diet & a multitude of other factors. I'm 21 years old and I never thought in a million years that my hair would begin to fall out. I panicked and had no idea what to do, who to call, or how I could fix this. I went to numerous doctors and dermatologists, one of whom misdiagnosed me and gave me steroid shots for my hair loss, one of the worst things you could give to someone who doesn't actually need it. I felt so hopeless and I thought I would lose all of my hair. Each day I would wake up to see more and more hair falling out. I was distraught. I was referred to a new dermatologist, Dr. Papadopulous in Bellmore, NY, who was incredible. She gave me great advice and suggested I get a consultation with Dr. Rafal for PRP treatments. I immediately gave them a call and scheduled an appointment as soon as I could. I went in and met with Lauren & Dr. Rafal. They were both so comforting, sweet & kind, and so is the rest of the team. I had reached my lowest point when I went in for my PRP consultation, and they reassured me they would be able to fix this. They promised that with 5-6 treatments my hair would be back to normal. I was worried & scared that I wouldn't see results, but after each treatment my hair got better and better, and today I am back to normal. If it wasn't for Dr. Rafal and her team I would not be where I am today. Their support and kindness during this difficult time helped me tremendously and Dr. Rafal went above and beyond to make me feel comforted throughout my treatments. I would recommend anyone to visit Dr. Rafal. She is more than just a dermatologist, she is genuinely there to help you no matter what you are suffering with. Being a person of color, laser treatment has been challenging for me. However, Dr. Rafal assured me that she uses a laser that has proved effective on colored skin. I have pigmentary lesions on my neck from ingrown hairs as well as uneven skin tone and enlarged pores. The treatment was quick, comfortable and I had absolutely NO downtime! AVOID AT ALL COSTS! I had terrible experiences with every aspect of this practice, from dermatology to skin procedures to laser treatments to customer service. First because this is most important, I do not feel that Dr. Rafal is a trustworthy doctor for multiple reasons: 1. Instead of offering medical counsel she was evidently more concerned with promoting her products, even by means of insult (i.e. rudely pointing out your skin's flaws in an attempt to persuade you to purchase). 2. Despite my family having a history of skin cancer she was never proactive in recommending precautionary measures such as routine exams, nor did she bother to check me even if I was already there for something else. 3. She failed to provide any pertinent information regarding procedures. What I thought was going to be a shave removal of a mole turned out to be an excision with stitches that left me with a big, nasty scar. I was unaware of this because she did not properly explain it beforehand nor did she have me sign the consent form until AFTER it was done. I could have (and should have) walked out right then and sued! Moving on to laser treatments, they subjected my body to more than double the number of treatments they originally recommended upon purchasing the package, at an interval frequency that was not deemed safe by many other doctors, still with disappointing results opposite of what was marketed. Safety measures were not followed here either, with the necessary preparatory actions never communicated. They severely lack in customer service, especially the older receptionist who is very unknowledgeable and unprofessional. They prefer to inconvenience their customers rather than their employees, as I was always asked to adjust my appointment times around what would be better for the laser technician. There were multiple occasions where I showed up for my appointment and either the office was closed or she was running late. On one occasion, upon my arrival they told me the machine was broken so they couldn't perform the service (which no one notified me of in advance) and that they would call me to set up another appointment once it was fixed, which they did not. Lastly, when I called to express my concerns about finishing my treatments, they never even had the decency to call me back to discuss any of it with me. That just proves how little they care about their patients! That was the final straw for me. I am beyond upset with how much time and money I wasted. I went for an annual head to toe check because my dermatologist was booked so far out. I found Dr Rafal was more interested in selling her products then she was about checking me head to toe. I've never had a head to toe check done so fast like that. She skimmed over my body. Barely made eye contact with me when she came into room. I feel she had this look I couldn't trust. She wanted me to rid every product I owned, and use hers. When I got to the counter to check out, there was a load of products on it which I thought maybe was just out for display? Only to find out they were recommended for me! lol Ummm yeah no. You want to promote your products great, but you really don't have to push your products on your patients like that. Sure throw it out there, but I didn't like the feeling I got it was a pushy and uncomfortable feeling. I felt like I was getting a sales pitch. I'm not one u can sell that easily. I was recommended to go to Dr. Rafal's Office for a dermatology procedure. My experience was one of utter satisfaction. The front desk was pleasant and helpful. The billing department, I believe her name was Natalie, explained to me the cost of each procedure as this was extremely important to me, and the different payment options. She was sweet and extremely helpful. Most important was the Doctor herself, who was not only knowledgeable but very professional and cleared up my issue with a couple of visits. I see someone said "What an Artist she is." right after I posted my review. She is a CON Artist! Go to this dermatologist if you want to get your butt ripped off. I'm just warning others so they are careful of what the price is. It is disgusting how much she charges--$4,200 was my bill. I was vulnerable as I was recovering from a stroke which i had advised the artist I had had recently. I'm glad some people may want to spend that much money for a short-term remedy I will never go to her again and I love to look good. All the bells and whistles and hot air. My bill came to $4,200 and I was shot up with an excessive amount of Juvederm and a multitude of Botox injections which left me extremely bruised for more than 2 weeks. The wait time is RIDICULOUS more than 2 hours, but I guess Dr. Rafal feels she is worth it as she is such a cosmetic artist. Well let me tell you I've been having Botox and Juvederm for years and her act does not fool me. Dr. Rafal has her cosmetics for sale and on top of her excuberant prices she wants to push that off on you too. Think of what you can do with $4,200. Most of the Botox injections for my crows feet wore off in a month and a half and so did some of the Botox in my forehead. I will travel to my dermatologist in Manhattan even though I live in Long Island now. I could take a cab to/from Manhattan and pay for Botox, Juvederm and still have lots of money left over. Tell me if I'm wrong but when you go for some Botox and fillers are you budgeting yourself for $4,200.???This high-priced doctor is for the birds not Claudia Byrd, lol.
