This was my second time eating here. We came for a late lunch during the week so it wasn't too crowded. The food is very very good and the portions are huge! It's definitely a place to come and share some dishes. It's a pricey but you get a lot! I had the Filet Mignon and added a skewer of chicken kabob. It was delicious and cooked to perfection. I love their rice! Hummus was delicious. Tabouli had a bit too much lemon juice in it. Service was great! The restaurant itself is large and it's sort of an inside outside type of vibe. When it's hot outside you feel it on the inside which can make the dining experience a bit uncomfortable. There's parking structures that offer 90 minutes of free parking. It's difficult to find any close street parking. They do have a small valet in the back of the entrance. read more

Raffi's Place has both indoor and outdoor seating, but most of it is outdoors. Unfortunately, it was extremely cold during my visit--so cold that I couldn't enjoy my meal. Although there was a heater at our table, it wasn't effective, and I was told the heaters couldn't be moved. I ended up taking all of my food home to eat later. The food, however, was outstanding. The flavors were rich, bold, and absolutely delicious--hands down some of the best food I've ever had. It was just disappointing that I couldn't enjoy it on-site. Also, note if you want to order food to go you must go to the window and order even if you're dinning in. I was seated at table 33, right next to the server station, which made the constant clatter of dishes a bit distracting, even though the staff was very kind. I would have preferred a different table. Service overall was excellent. Expect a 25- 30 minute wait to be seated, mostly standing up for only 1 bench outside, and valet parking is available. Would I return? Probably not to dine in during colder weather, but I'd consider coming back in the summer or ordering takeout. If you go when it's cold, bundle up. read more

I've had this place saved in my yelp collection hoping to try it one day and let me tell youuu. The hype is no lie... the front entrance is a little tricky because the gps leads you to the "back door" which is facing the street...so when you enter it's a little awkward when you stand there looking for the host...only to find out that the actual entrance was on the other side of the restaurant near a small staircase. Besides that, the staff were friendly and the food was amazing!! I ordered the Soltani Kabob Plate which included skewered and charbroiled filet mignon and ground beef. I requested that my filet mignon be medium rare... ohh my gooddnesss did this plate have the juiciest and most tender Mediterranean protein I've ever had! I enjoyed every bite. Ordered the Barg meal, Shish kabob, Chicken barg meal, with hummus and a yogurt dip as appetizers. The total cost was around $140 not including tip. Out of the all the selected meals the shish kabob meal was the best. The appetizers were good. All in all the proteins lacked flavor. The highlight of this outing was seeing Keanu Reeves and his girlfriend there. They didn't stay I guess they don't want to wait. The place is packed. I spent the day in Los Angeles with my family and decided to try Raffi's in Glendale since I had heard so much about it. By the time we arrived, we were starving and really looking forward to the meal. We started with the appetizer tahdig with two stews: ghormeh sabzi and gheimeh. Unfortunately, the ghormeh sabzi did not taste fresh and lacked flavor, and the gheimeh was barely noticeable in taste as well. We then ordered two Soltani plates, which were served family-style. I have honestly never had meat as tasteless as the Soltani at Raffi's. It seemed like it was simply grilled without any seasoning. We let our server know that we weren't happy with the food and asked for two additional koobideh instead, as we didn't want to complain further. We still tried to eat the original koobideh, but it was also very bland. When the second round of koobideh arrived, it was dripping and seemed very undercooked. Overall, it felt like this restaurant does not believe in seasoning at all. Hours later, I'm still burping onions and the heavy meat is just sitting uncomfortably in my chest. I honestly would not recommend this place. I'm not sure what all the hype is about, especially when there are many great Persian restaurants in Irvine, where I'm from -- including Cafe Naderi, House of Kabob, and Irvine Grill. Also, aside from the hostess, the staff was not particularly friendly. If you're looking for heartburn and tasteless food, then Raffi's might be for you -- otherwise, I would suggest trying somewhere else. read more

We finally got a chance to dine here during our recent trip to Disneyland. Based on the other Yelp reviews ( and the fact that it was holiday), we expected a long wait-but to our surprise, it wasn't busy at all when we arrived. We were seated right away, and our server greeted us promptly with fresh, warm pita bread and veggies on the side. We ordered our go-to favorites: rack of lamb kabob, shish kabob(fillet mignon), and chicken barg kabob. Love this place! Honestly one of the best Mediterranean restaurants around. No matter what time you go it's busy. There is valet parking and a near by parking lot with complementary parking for the first 90 minutes. My friend and I came here for lunch. We started with the ikra (eggplant dip) and hummus. For lunch, we ordered the salmon and mahi mahi kabob. We forgot how large the portions are. So huge! Did we need two appetizers, no... Did we want them, absolutely. For our entrees, we could have shared one plate but we have lots of leftovers to munch on for a couple of days. My mom ordered the ground chicken kabob. She was a huge fan. All entrees come with rice and grilled vegetables. There is an option to swap out the rice for a salad which I did. The Greek salad hit the spot. Not only is the food great, but the vibe is so nice. I've heard about Raffi's Place for years and have had it bookmarked, but never had the chance to try it until now, and let me say, it is 100% worth the hype. This may be the best middle eastern food I've had. I ended up ordering the beef koobideh and everyone else in my party ordered the soltani kebab, which comes with one beef koobideh and one beef barg. Both of these dishes come with a side of rice and a grilled tomato and pepper. Let me start off with saying that the rice here is PHENOMENAL; it's so light and fluffy. The kebabs themselves were also delicious and perfectly cooked and seasoned. The serving sizes here are very generous and I'd recommend sharing the entrees because it's a lot for one person. I feel like the price point here is fair given the quality and quantity of food. I came here on a Sunday night with a party of 5 and the wait was about 45 minutes. They do have a yelp waitlist, however, whenever I looked, it always said that it's closed so you'd most likely have to put yourself on the list by physically going to the store. The ambiance in the store is nice and it's cool because it's an indoor/outdoor layout. Service is friendly and the food came in a timely manner. The first few things you notice or at least that I noticed walking up to Raffi's. One, the place was packed. The line was huge which is a good sign because regardless of the wait time people are willing to stay. So that for me as a true food lover is encouraging. We were seated faster than we expected. We started with hummus as our appetizer and it tasted great. I added some fresh mint leaves in my lavash and the herbiness really complemented it. Our server warned us ahead of time that there would be a wait for the kabobs because of how busy the kitchen was. Those of you who know me understand that I have worked in the restaurant industry on and off for the last thirty odd years so I understand this and appreciate the heads up. As we waited for our food I noticed the all staff understood and moved with a sense of urgency. The movements were quick and the service attentive. This is something that is nice to see. For our entrees my wife went with the Barg Kabob (Thin sliced filet Mignon, skewered and charbroiled to perfection) I went with Soltani Kabob (Filet Mignon and ground beef, skewered and charbroiled to perfection.) I've had this place bookmarked for several years. I've heard nothing but raving reviews about it on YouTube and on Yelp. Let me start by saying that this place is busy. Not many if any empty tables so that's good for them, however it's a little cramped. Our server was nice, but you could tell he was stretched very thin due to the number of tables he was working. He didn't really check on us unless he was asking if we were ready to order. Once the order was placed, he didn't come back to our table and when he did it was to drop off the check. The presentation of the food was fine. The taste was very bland. Not much flavor and by flavor I meant it could use some/a lot of seasoning. They didn't have any sauces.....nothing. I visited Raffi's on Friday and had to wait about an hour to get in, which is normal there and I don't mind. However, the experience inside was very disappointing. We ordered two main dishes and one appetizer, and the bill came out to $108, which is honestly very overpriced for the current quality of the food. The food was very poor -- it wasn't properly cooked even though I asked for it well done. There was also way too much onion, and the taste was very strong and unpleasant, especially in the kofta. I've been going to this restaurant for years, and this was my first visit after a while. I even came all the way from Orange County specifically for it, but the experience was extremely disappointing. I went for the second time last weekend and it is just as good as I remember the first time. Staff is always friendly and kind. They checked on us just the right amount of times. Everything we ordered was delicious. My husband and I ordered the shish kabob and the boneless chicken kabob. Our friends got the soltani kabob and the salmon dish. We also got the hummus and the mast moosir. The hummus is pretty smooth compared to other places but the mast moosir is just *chefs kiss*.
