    Elarji Croquettes in minted sauce
    Jon N.

A very solid experience. The team was all so welcoming and friendly. Service was great, offering explanations of food, handling an issue with a drink, and acknowledging a birthday. It was really nice. Cool atmosphere, but music was a bit loud and made conversation, and hearing server difficult. Drinks were good but inconsistent. My wife ordered a second Muraba Cocktail, and it was completely different from first. The server had it remade, and it was closer, but it was still different. Nice pours for all drinks. We enjoyed most dishes, but salt was a bit overdone. It's really a shame because so many other great spices and ingredients really should have been the star. Croquettes were maybe the favorite dish for both of us. The sauce was so good, and we loved the flavor and texture of the Croquettes. My only note is, they should provide a spoon to get more of the sauce in each bite. Will make it a point to ask next time, but they should include one. The worst taste was the chicken in the chicken soup, which was ridiculously salted. Unfortunate, because the broth was absolutely delicious. Khinkali Kalakuri Dumplings were awesome. Huge and delicious bites with ground beef and juicy broth. The Lamb Abkhazura was really tasty, too, but we didn't care for the pickled veg. Saperavis Pelamushi was light and tasty. It is way worth the visit and we'd return. Recommended!

Spent my birthday here and can I just say it was truly a lovely experience. When I told my friends we were eating Georgian food, they were unsure because they'd never had it and didn't know what to expect. We left the restaurant in amazement because Georgian food has a hearty richness that is one of a kind. We had a server named Riley that truly immersed us in the culture and even provided the Georgian way of eating dumplings! We got to even do a fun photo shoot wearing Georgian hats. Everyone was kind and was a lovely experience! My favorite thing by far were the dumplings. Can't wait to come back to have them again!

First time here and it was a wonderful experience, I wasn't familiar with the Georgian Cuisine but our server made it very easy for us and gave us good recommendations, food was delicious! And portions were huge. Mostly carbs so don't go if you are on a diet. Valet service in the front so parking is not an issue, ambience is very cozy and comfortable. I loved this place and will definitely back!

Deda Restaurant in Pasadena serves highly praised authentic Georgian comfort food, featuring standout Adjaruli khachapuri (cheese boats) and khinkali (dumplings). Located in a cozy, atmospheric space on South Lake, it offers a warm, family-friendly vibe with attentive service. It is widely recommended for its delicious, unique cuisine and extensive Georgian wine list. Signature Dishes: The khachapuri (especially the cheesy Adjaruli) and khinkali (soup dumplings) are must-orders. Other favorites include lamb shanks, eggplant rolls, and fresh Georgian bread. Brunch: Deda also offers a distinctive brunch that brings Georgian flavors into a relaxed daytime setting--think street food classics made brunch-ready:

Great atmosphere and excellent service from start to finish; the staff was attentive, friendly, and made the whole experience feel welcoming. The ambiance was lively yet comfortable, making it a great spot to relax and enjoy a meal. The food was very good overall, with thoughtful presentation and solid flavors. The standout was definitely the wagyu beef soup; rich, flavorful, and memorable. The only dish that didn't quite match the rest was the pork, which wasn't cooked properly and fell short compared to everything else. Overall, a really enjoyable dining experience, and I'd definitely come back to try more from the menu.

Georgian food with a fun atmosphere. Went for a Saturday dinner. There is parking garage next to the restaurant (north) where you can get validation. They also have valet and if you're lucky, some street parking. Was pretty busy in the restaurant and was glad we had an rsvp. Georgia (the country) is known for some good, affordable wines - so grabbed a bottle (Gurashvili's). I'm not a sommelier, but definitely seemed to go well with the cheese and meat dishes we had. Also, something to note: Georgian food is typically saltier than your typical cuisine - so you'll probably have to be mindful on which dishes to order if you prefer less salt. We ordered the following: - Warm eggplant salad - kind of reminded me of a Chinese stir fry of sorts. This was on the saltier side. - Adjaruli khachapuri (cheesy pie looking dish with an egg yolk) - very cheesy, this could be a meal on its own. The cheese is a bit salty. - Lamb mtsvadi (lamb kebab) - the potatoes were a little on the salty side, the lamb was cooked very well - enjoyed this quite a bit. - Khinkali kalakuri (meat dumplings - boiled) - reminded me of large version of xlb at Taiwanese restaurants. This was pretty tasty also. - Khinkali with cheese (fried) - think it being fried went well with the cheese inside. The cheese seemed to taste the similarly to the cheese pie dish. One other thing to note: they do bug you to take pictures (which they sell after dinner). It was a lot - we politely ask the photographer to stop after the 4th one. They came back with photos framed to purchase ($20) and def was pressure to do so. That being said, the pic was pretty good and is now on my nightstand lol Would I come back? Maybe. If I do, probably would get a few different appetizers (and the same dumplings), 1 meat dish, along with wine and dessert.

As a Georgian, I am very picky when it comes to khinkali (especially kalakuri style) and I truly cannot rave enough about the khinkali at Deda. It was, without question, the best khinkali I have ever had. The dough, the filling, the broth inside...everything was absolutely perfect. I've tried several Georgian restaurants while traveling, and if I'm being honest, many have been a bit disappointing. Unfortunately (or fortunately!), I have a tendency to compare everything to my grandmother's cooking, which sets an incredibly high bar. That's why I was so pleasantly surprised by Deda. It was the first Georgian restaurant in a long time that genuinely felt like home. The classic Imeruli khachapuri was excellent; simple, authentic, and exactly what I hoped it would be. The chashushuli veal stew did not disappoint either; it was rich, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. And I can't write this review without mentioning the wine. The selection was fantastic, and Baia's Wine Krakhuna Blend from Kakheti was phenomenal. As someone from the country that gave the world wine, I deeply appreciated seeing such thoughtful Georgian wine offerings. Deda exceeded my expectations when it comes to flavor. If you're looking for authentic Georgian cuisine, this place is something truly special.

When you have family visiting from Georgia, especially someone who deeply misses the flavors of home, you want to show them that authentic Georgian cuisine can truly be found even here in Southern California. I thought Deda would be the perfect place to take my relative -- and I'm so happy to say it exceeded every expectation. She absolutely loved it. Every dish was delicious, beautifully presented, and full of the authentic flavors we grew up with. The service was warm and attentive, and the entire experience felt thoughtful and welcoming. It meant so much to see someone who had been missing real homemade Georgian food enjoy every moment of the meal. Places like this do more than serve food -- they create a little piece of home far away from home.

I had a great time bringing my dad and his girlfriend here who were visiting from San Diego! Our server, Nikita gave us great recommendations the entire meal, and from start to finish including dessert everything was phenomenal. I'd recommend the braised lamb shank with tarragon soup and the napoleon cake for desert! :)

Woo wow wow! My first time trying Georgian food, and Deda was so good. I live around the area, but somehow I never went in-- I'm so glad my friend picked this place for her birthday dinner. They have valet parking, street parking, and there's also a parking lot across the street. The service was very warm and welcoming. We had a semi-private room with over 10 people, and our server was still very attentive the whole night. They even had a photographer take birthday photos for us, which was such a nice touch. My favorite dish was the khachapuri. So, so good. I've honestly been thinking about it ever since. The food is hearty, filling, pretty, and very flavorful. The decor is classic and tasteful, and the restaurant was packed on a Saturday night. I think this is a great place for a birthday gathering, family dinner, or even a date night. I'll definitely bring my husband and son here next time. My boys love carbs and meat, so I know they would enjoy it too. It's such a special spot, and I don't think there's anything quite like it around Pasadena.

Deda is a phenomenal addition to Pasadena and it should be the next place you visit, the next time you leave your house. We came here on a Sunday around brunch time with no reservations. We waited about 2 minutes for a table to be prepared, though I would suggest you make reservations. The only word that I can think of to describe this place is "cool". The entire vibe of the restaurant is casually luxurious with rich linen, deep colors, and moody lighting. Our server was kind, though new to the restaurant so she couldn't answer our very specific cultural questions which is okay! Georgian food was new to us so that is why we had questions. We got the Napoleon which was light, airy, and accompanied by a berry compote that complimented the cream well. Next, we tried the khinkali with cheese ... wow - these were INCREDIBLE! The dough was nice and crispy, I sensed a high protein flour? And the cheese filling was soo delicious, it was filled with nice tangy cheese (maybe the same that is inside of the khachapuri? Either way - the khinkali with cheese are going to be a MUST order for us every time we come back. The khachapuri had salmon on it so I wasn't able to eat it but the tiny square I had without fish was delicious! I cannot WAIT to come back! Bathroom notes: The bathroom is also easily accessible and I believe there were 3 stalls and 2 sinks. Very clean.

    Eggplant pkhali rolls

Our waitress was easy-going and kind and I thought her uniform was fun. The ambience in the restaurant was leisurely/comfortable and I was happy to get seated in a booth that had pillows. The food was delicious! Although maybe a bit pricey.

    Khachapuri--so yummy!

What an absolutely lovely dinner we had tonight at Deda. Took our nephew and niece here for a grad celebration and were blown away by all the very tasty, beautifully prepared dishes. I particularly loved the boiled khinkali with cheese -it had a melt in your mouth quality and I couldn't get enough of it. We also enjoyed the lamb shank, sturgeon, and of course the khachapuri with the egg in the middle--YUM! I also recommend the fizzy lemonades -we tried tarragon and pomegranate-super refreshing. We shared a slice of the honey cake for dessert which was so rich yet not too heavy . In fact, we all noticed that the food was all very tasty, satisfying and filling yet we didn't feel weighed down or heavy. I highly recommend Deda and also want to say the service was excellent, friendly and helpful.

You order at the counter. I usually end up getting one of the breakfast meals - and all of them have managed to be both flavorful and fresh - in many ways the opposite of the typical American breakfast. The "bowl of foul", which apparently rhymes if you pronounce foul the Armenian way, is something they advertise a lot on their menu - and for good reason. It's actually one of the least foul breakfasts I've ever had in my life. It's a delicious flavorful bean dip with generous breads on the side to eat with it - as well as a platter of fresh vegetables. Still my favorite food to get here. Also decent was their fatteh, which is cream, yogurt, chickpeas, and a lot of assorted nuts, all dolloped over fried pita bread. Also very good, but I'm just honestly not a huge fan of nuts. It also comes with the vegetable platter which is the perfect combo with the creamy chickpea thing. The food usually takes 10-15 minutes to come out, but that's because they're clearly preparing everything fresh in the back (you can kind of see them do this.) They also have a fountain machine, which is a huge plus to ice addicts like me. Everything is casual, but also very clean and neat. Honestly, it's also a very nice cafe to relax in, do work, talk with friends, etc. etc. This is very much close to the "optimal" place to me when it comes to taking friends out somewhere to reconnect. Anyways, this place is highly recommended for both a wonderful dine-in and dine-out experience. I try to stop by it as often as possible for their breakfast to the point where I can count on my fingers the amount of times I've had breakfast at a place that WASN'T the Old Sassoon Bakery. Honestly, this place stands as a towering achievement of mastering everything that "new hip trendy" food often isn't. It's super affordable, generous portions, super clean, fast service (but you can stay around as long as you want), and the main draw is just the delicious, flavorful, authentic food that very much lives up to all of the hype and more.

The OG Soup Dumpling: Why Khinkali House is Glendale's Best Kept Secret…read more Let's get one thing straight: if you think the "soup dumpling" started with a two-hour wait outside a Din Tai Fung, you're about 600 years late to the party. While the culinary world is currently obsessed with the delicate, bite-sized Xiao Long Bao--which didn't even show up until the 1870s in Shanghai--the Georgians have been perfecting this craft since the 13th-century Mongol invasions. Khinkali is the OG. It's the rugged, fist-sized ancestor that doesn't need a bamboo steamer basket or a delicate, nervous touch. It's a meal that requires soul, a bit of primitive technique, and a complete disregard for your clean shirt. Tucked away on Artsakh Avenue, Khinkali House is where you go to pay your respects to this ancient culinary titan. Atmosphere and the Art of the Rainy Day I happened to drop in on a rare, miserable rainy day in Glendale, and let me tell you, sitting out in their roomy, covered patio area while the water drummed against the roof was pure atmospheric gold. It's the kind of setting that demands heavy, unapologetic comfort food. The service here is sharp, warm, and attentive--the kind of old-school hospitality that makes you feel like a regular before you've even opened the menu. The Opening Act: Borscht with Soul You don't just jump into a pile of massive dumplings. You have to prepare the palate. I started with a bowl of their Borscht, and it was exquisite. It arrived as a deep, vibrant crimson pool of beet-infused soul, swimming with tender beef, cabbage, carrots, and potatoes. It was earthy, slightly sweet, and served at a temperature that could ward off any chill in your bones. It's the kind of bowl that tells you immediately that this kitchen isn't just following a recipe; they're honoring a bloodline. The Main Event: The Four Pillars of Khinkali Then came the heavy hitters. Unlike the thin-skinned, elegant Xiao Long Bao, Khinkali is built for battle. It's a massive, boiled parcel with a thick, satisfyingly chewy dough gathered at the top into a sturdy little knot or "handle" (the kudi). You don't eat the handle--you use it to hoist the beast, bite a small hole in the side, aggressively slurp out the liquid gold trapped inside, and then devour the rest. I worked my way through all four flavors, and each was a masterclass in balance: Ground Beef & Pork: The classic heavyweight. The moment you pierce the dough, a rich, heavily spiced, aggressively savory broth floods your spoon. The meat is fatty in all the right ways, laced with herbs that cut through the richness. It is purely addictive. Lamb: A masterclass in bold, unapologetic flavor. The lamb adds a deeply gamey, sophisticated depth that grounds the entire dish. As it boils, the rendered fat mixes with the internal cooking liquids inside that thick doughy cavern to create a broth that is darker, earthier, and aggressively flavorful. It's a heavy, soulful revelation that hits you right in the chest. Mushroom: Often treated as a vegetarian afterthought in other places, here it's a star. It hits you with a massive wave of umami. The mushrooms are tender and earthy, producing a fragrant, woodsy liqueur inside the dumpling that makes you realize you don't need meat to create a complex masterpiece. Georgian Cheese (The Undisputed Champion): I'm just going to say it--this was my absolute favorite. It is an exercise in pure, primal decadence. Instead of a meat broth, biting into this unleashes a molten, gooey river of tangy, salty Georgian cheese. It pulls, it stretches, and the sharp, slightly funky bite of the cheese against the warm, thick dough is a spiritual experience. I could eat ten of these and die happy. The Return Trip The tragedy of Khinkali House is that the dumplings are so filling, you have to leave the rest of the menu unexplored. But I am already plotting my return. Next time, I'm coming back for the Adjarskiy Khachapuri--that famous Georgian boat-shaped bread loaded with melted cheese and crowned with a fresh egg yolk and a pat of butter. I also have my eye on the Zhengyalov Hatz (a traditional Armenian herb-filled flatbread), and the wildly intriguing Osetrina (Sturgeon) Skewer, which you just don't see every day. The Verdict: Respect the Elders Let's cut the noise. Xiao Long Bao is great for a polite, light lunch, but Khinkali is for when you want to feel something real. Khinkali House has managed to bring a 13th-century mountain staple to a Glendale patio and make it feel like the most relevant thing on the street. It's bold, it's historical, and it's flat-out delicious. If you want to experience the true evolution of the dumpling, get yourself to Khinkali House. Grab a handle, watch the rain, and eat like a Georgian highlander. You can thank me later.

We were 4 adults and 1 child, and an automatic 18% gratuity was already included in the bill. However, on the receipt the section saying "tips not included" was circled, which made it seem like gratuity had NOT been added yet. Because of that confusion, I ended up leaving an additional cash tip. I understand restaurants may add gratuity automatically for larger groups, but if gratuity is already included, the receipt and staff should make that clear instead of circling "tips not included." It creates unnecessary confusion for customers. Also, automatically adding gratuity regardless of service feels questionable. Thankfully our server was kind, but if service had been poor, customers should still feel they have a choice regarding tipping.

Polka is a quality Polish restaurant offering authentic polish foods in a cozy ambiance…read more Our family, including my Krakow-born, Polish-speaking and cuisine-discerning spouse, came to Polka on a Saturday evening. Disappointingly quiet, we entered the cozy restaurant adorned by newspaper clips, polish coats of arms, and were greeted by our friendly waiter. I had the meat patties ($24) which were delectable. Rich ground beef and pork spiced perfectly and fried with an accompanying gravy. Rich, but not greasy. My wife had the chicken schnitzel ($30) which was good but not groundbreaking, and the kids a number of perogis ($25) I found excellent. Accompanying the two adult meals was soup (a delectable tomato and a surprisingly sour savory pickle) and salad. We concluded with a delicious strawberry jam crepe ($15, see photo). The soup and meat paddies were the strongest entries on the menu that evening. The service was warm and genuine, taking our order, giving recommendations, communicating in polish as per our preference, and the restaurant was cozy and clean. Prices, as listed above, were reasonable considering the accompanying soup and salad. Overall, Polka is a solid restaurant with excellent food and service at a good price. Delicious, hearty, and with a cozy atmosphere it is perfect for a date or small family looking for a genuine taste of Eastern Europe. Food: 4.5/5 Ambiance: 4/5 Service: 4.5/5 Value: 4/5

I wish there had been more caramelized onions to provide a more tasty contrast with the mild perogies. The highlight was the flaming cherries & cheese (it was cream cheese) crepe. Tasty and fun! The modest sounding chocolate pudding is also surprisingly delicious. Service was attentive.

Why go to Raffy's when you can go here?…read more I must say that I have been coming to Mini Kabob for 10+ years. I live in OC and have visited on many occasions just for Mini Kabob. The food at Mini Kabob is extremely solid. My favorite cuts are the steak shish and chicken thighs. I dont really care for chicken but they do a really good job here. Even their lamb is amazing and I dont not like lamb at all. The toum is fantastic and the rice is so buttery and fluffy. The ambience is quaint as the shop is small. I remember it used to be a single unit until the neighbors on their right moved out and they took over the space. There is a few outdoor seats but im going to preface and highlight the word "few". Otherwise you can eat in your car or take it to a nearby park. Armen is running the show and is a stand up human being. Always tried his best to remember every customer, gets to know them and greets everyone with a happy smile despite how slammed they can get. Hardest working individual I know who is trying to make a huge name for Mini Kabob now that he has taken over the family business.

The good news is that most people pick up to go orders, so that one table is fairly available. The chicken was very good. Super moist. The beef Lula was AMAZING. The hummus was ok. The guy next to me gave me one of his lamb chops! Probably the single nicest act of food kindness from a stranger ever. Great lamb! They salt brine it. If I were to go again, I would try the beef. The ambiance was good but I would not eat there. They have set themselves up to be a carry out restaurant - I just didn't get the memo.
