Party planners beware! We booked this hall and paid our deposit five months in advance for our baby's baptism, only to have our reserved time pushed back two hours less than a month before the event so they could accommodate another party (they booked after us) after being told we had paid for and booked the entire day. They offered to have my 100+ guests stand around the enterance for 2+ hours while waiting for the hall. We gave them an opportunity to amend their mistake, and instead of speaking to the owner who had originally booked us and taken our money, we were unable to get into contact with him and had to work with another employee as a mediator. They have this waitress who's super rude, I don't understand how she has this job. I'm convinced she's related to the owner or something. This same waitress started an argument with another employee in front of everyone. It took over 20 minutes for someone just to come to our table to get a drink order to even start with. Fresh & delicious food with excellent service. The first time I went was 10 years ago, and the last time I went was a month ago. I really appreciate the consistency with quality food and service over the years. The fish is brought in fresh daily. The menu has plenty to offer for everyone. Lots of seating options as well. There's regular dining areas and a hookah lounge area. My husband and I arrived with our three children on a random weekday and were seated immediately for dinner outside. The weather was nice, and the music was upbeat and beachy, made me feel like I was at a beach club in Tulum or Ibiza. All I can say is the food is a party in your mouth. Will go again. I had hosted an event in the back room last year and didn't notice much due to the fact it was a light luncheon after a funeral. Today took the family to have dinner in the patio. Everything was dirty. Heat lamps had an inch of dust and dirt all over them. Silverware didn't match and plates were chipped. Let's not talk about the Coke and coffee jugs. Everything old and worn out. Food was average and service was lacking. Place has so much potential. Too bad. All this while charging $55 a person for family style. Appetizers were plenty but very basic. They served us Lipton tea at the end. Lipton!? 7 people cost $500. This was max a $30 a plate meal they served us. Needs new ownership. Visited again recently and I still love their food. Very authentic to Lebanese culture. Looks like they have made some changes with a nice lounge area and really good hookah. Lived in Glendale for 20 years and have never been here. Dropped by last night for dinner and they seemed to have an event there so the place was packed. This did not however affect the staff's performance and we were served appropriately The staff was a young man and an older gentleman. Both were very friendly and attentive over our needs. They even gave us a salad on the house for all the trouble/busyness of the place We ordered a greek salad, 2 diet cokes, a beef shawarma plate, a chicken shawarma plate, and a plate of hummus. When you are seated they bring you picked cabbage and olives along with hot oita breads. Our food arrived at a normal pace and it was good. Honestly not the best I have had but it's not bad either. I was here for a new years dinner with work. The food was amazing and the environment was beautiful. I'm glad we went on the 30th on a Monday because I could see this is the type of place that gets full and for good reason! Like I said, the food was delicious. The only reason for the low stars is our server was so rude to no one except myself. There were multiple incidents so much that my coworkers also noticed it. I didn't do anything that I could think of. He also wouldn't check up on us or bring us water, we had to keep flagging him down. All the other staff was was lovely. Our server was an older gentleman who was bald and had the nastiest attitude. I had asked if he had prosecco and he said they had champagne but champagne is only from france and most places do not carry it. But if they did have it, I wouldn't order it since it's usually a very high priced ticket. He also wouldn't bring me a drink menu and when he changed my drink he didn't tell me. I mentioned it and he said, don't worry this is more expensive in a condescending tone, which was very rude. I hope he gets spoken to. The restaurant was completely empty, yet they offered us an uncomfortable table and claimed that all the good ones were "reserved." Clearly, they were pretending to be busy maybe some strange marketing tactic, but it just came off as fake and disrespectful. We didn't even stay; we decided to leave right away. First of all let me tell you why three stars..... customer service .. From the moment we walked in til we left I was shocked how bad the service was. How unfriendly and uncaring everyone was. Our waitress wouldn't even check on us after she took our order. We had to chase someone passing by to attend us Unbelievable. Slow ... unprofessional ...I can go on and on. As far as food we really enjoyed our dinner. The mezze platters were good. Fresh, flavorful and delicious. The hot dishes we got were well prepared. We took our friends for dinner and made the mistake of choosing Phoenicia. It was everyone's first time there. We left the restaurant embarrassed by the staff & service, feeding our friends at home. When ordering, we were told the item we asked for was not being served today FOUR different times. We settled on lamb chops. Our food comes and it's average at best. However, the lamb chops never come. We asked the waitress who said that it wasn't on the order and wasn't even being served that day. Probable food poisoning. Our group of 14 family members spent a lot of money and a lot of time at Phoenicia on Monday 9/23/24. I regret choosing this place for our special family reunion meal. The restaurant came highly recommended by a family member as well as by 2 Glendale locals. Should have believed the past reviews. A few of us got very sick the day after, including my elderly mom, my husband, my son, my aunt, myself. We all ate different entrees. My combo kabob plate was delicious. Maybe the hummus was very bad or something else we ate? Such a disappointment to have this happen. I called and told the kind manager about food poisoning. There weren't too many seated guests but it felt like it took a long while for our servers to come by. The meals for their portions were a bit overpriced, even if the food was fine. Normally I'm not against paying a higher price for decent food if the experience is worth the money but neither the service nor the food presentation nor the general ambiance of the place itself really warranted the price tag. I probably won't be going there again unless there's some family occasion. P.S. the valet service isn't worth it. It's 12 dollars for someone to park your car in their parking lot, lol.
