Adana Restaurant in Glendale looks amazing after the remodel! The entire restaurant is beautiful, spotless, and has a warm, welcoming atmosphere. The staff is very friendly, professional, and nicely dressed in matching uniforms. The food is fresh, homemade, and full of flavor. They serve delicious Armenian and Mediterranean food, including BBQ, kebabs, grilled fish, fresh salads, and warm house-made bread. Everything tastes home-style and is prepared with quality ingredients. The fresh bread alone is a must-try! The service was excellent, and the owner was extremely friendly and welcoming. This is a great place for either lunch or dinner with family and friends. In my opinion, it is one of the best Armenian and Mediterranean restaurants in Glendale for fresh, clean food and authentic BBQ kebabs. Overall, a wonderful experience from beginning to end. I recently dined in a restaurant called ADANA in Burbank with group of 5 adults and two kids ages 4 months and 4 years old, unfortunately the experience was disappointing. The service was poorly organized and our meals were not served at the same time, which it made it difficult for every one to eat together, on top of that we were charged 25% fee for being a "large group" For over six adults we only had 5 adults and 2 kids, this was unexpected and not properly explained, overall service was below expectations and extra charge did not feel justified I hope management improves both service and communication in future read more

Yes, Adana has reopened! Some changes to the menu, but our favorites, Chicken Koobideh Kabob and Pork Baby Back Ribs Kabob are still available, as are the Kashk-E-Bademjan and Yogurt & Cucumber Dip. We sampled a new dish, a barbecued vegetable salad, which we hope will be added to the menu. There's also a new dessert section of the menu. We shared a Rosewater Pistachio ice cream, a half dome of a light delicate ice cream on a thin round waffle and sprinkled with crushed pistachios. Every dish was prepared with Edward's usual deftness and finesse. Congratulations, too, to Edward on the remodeling! A pleasing modern design with warmth (pictures don't do it justice), and to my eye evidence of good craftsmanship and attention to detail. read more

We visited Adana with a group from work, and were thoroughly impressed. I think they've made some real fans with their delicious, abundant plates, friendly staff, and stunning drinks! I'm annoyed I didn't take more photos, but I think I'll be back! We enjoyed a variety of appetizers, with the beetroot hummus a crowd favorite. I'm not a big meat eater and while they have a good selection of salads, the lentil soup was calling my name! I also couldn't resist the sour cherry rice, and also tried the orange peel rice. All amazing. I would come back just for the rice! The soup was like a hug in a bowl, so comforting. I then ordered a takeout kebab plate for my husband, because I knew I couldn't go home raving about the food without anything for him. I did remember to take a photo of that, and he raved about those flavors too. Our server Mariam was lovely, very accommodating and helpful. It's been several years since I've been to Adana, so I was shocked to see the restaurant's new look. It's beautiful and elegant--perfect for special occasions or parties. I went there for dinner with coworkers, and we were all impressed with the attentiveness and friendliness of the staff. I came here to review Adana again, and realized that, even though I never do Yelp reviews I had already reviewed them. It is just that good. The meat is perfect - get the soltani for the perfect mix of koobideh and filet mignon. Zereshk polo is as good as homemade, almost like your maman. Onions with sumogh, most o mousir, homemade pita, the crispest salad shirazi. They only would serve you fresh tadigh, never yesterdays, so don't expect it first thing if you are getting lunch! I have no idea why anyone eats Persian food anywhere else in LA. Hands down, the best of the best. I did love the old decor that felt like you'd happened into some kind of lost European restaurant, but they did a great and tasteful job on the new modern design as well which is very cute. The late great Johnathan Gold made us aware of this phenomenal restaurant years ago in an LA Times review. We have been going there for years and have taken a slew of friends. We are thrilled that it is back after its renovation and are very happy to report that the food and service are as good as ever in their new remodeled restaurant!! we brought a group of eight earlier this week and everybody loved it. Would highly recommend the lamb chops, chicken, skewers, eggplant and yogurt. But we have never had a dish we didn't love! Long live Adana!! read more

A strong five stars without a doubt! After hearing that Los Angeles County is home to a large Armenian population, I knew we had to try their cuisine. By chance, I happened to see this restaurant was just a few minutes from our hotel. With the promising ratings, and seeing that it's a humble independent restaurant, I selected Adana with enthusiasm. The restaurant's space is fairly small with just a few tables, and at 4:00PM, a couple of customers were finishing up their meals when we entered. We asked our waitress about the size of the entrées and she mentioned they are pretty large since they include salad, hummus and pita. That said, we decided to order three entrees for the four of us to share, specifically two of the Combination and one Soltani Combo. Our waitress had a wonderful idea of serving everything family style. All the meat and rice literally came on a platter, with bowls of salad, hummus and seasoned onions on the side. Alongside all of this, she brought out a basket with two types of pita - one soft, and the other toasted. It was a TON of food! + COMBINATION DINNER ($25.99): Including chicken, beef and looleh (ground lamb kabob), this plate provides you with a perfect variety. The chicken was absolutely flawless! I normally don't describe chicken as being succulent, but this one was so juicy, and marinated with a perfect grill. It may be one of my top chicken dishes... ever! I also loved the looleh, which was flavored with onion, parsley and some warm spices. I can be hesitant to order lamb due to the gaminess, but I didn't find it too wild at all. Somehow, I missed trying a bite of the beef, but my dining companions apparently enjoyed it since they gobbled it all up before I could snatch some. + SOLTANI COMBO DINNER ($37.99): In terms of meats, this plate had cuts of filet mignon and a koobideh (ground beef) kabab. The filet mignon was pretty tender and tasted quite natural, which is how it should be enjoyed. The koobideh was also delicious, hefty with a rich beefy flavor. These dishes came with a fluffy side of rice, which tasted a little buttery. I couldn't stop eating the refreshing Persian Salad of chopped cucumber and tomato, in addition to the side of sliced marinated onions. Both of these brought a nice crunch and their acidity paired perfectly in between bites of meat. Their hummus was impeccable as well... so nutty and light, almost having a whipped consistency. The hummus of my dreams, seriously! If that wasn't enough food, I couldn't resist trying their EGGPLANT DISH ($10.99) appetizer. Also known as Kashk-e-Bademjan, fried eggplant came topped with condensed yogurt, fried onions and mint. The eggplant was sliced thin and tasted like it had a slight char. The yogurt sauce was nice and creamy with the onions adding so much flavor and the mint gave it a cool finish. Needless to say, I loved this! Our waitress was the sweetest, being so genuine and providing us with the best hospitality. She shared that the restaurant's owner uses ingredients of the utmost quality, including real saffron from abroad. This may be the best kebab I have had in LA. I've tried so many different incredible places but the steak was so tender, the lamb was so beautifully seasoned, and the flavors were so exceptional. You can tell the staff is no nonsense and absolutely will not say that what they have is better than anywhere else, they don't compare one item on the menu to another, and when I said their kebab was my favorite he said they just do their best and there's no competition in the industry just different people doing their own thing and I love that. It really comes through in the food and the service, you get the sense that they are down to earth and no gimmicks, they believe in every single thing on the menu and it is undoubtedly fantastic. I am excited to come back and try other menu items although I will never not get the lamb because it is now my number 1 lamb in LA. The interior is simple and there's no frills. ***Michelin Bib Gourmand*** Looking for a top notch Middle Eastern restaurant? Adana is certainly one of the best in/around Los Angeles. Recipient of a Michelin Bib Gourmand award, Adana is also no stranger to the Los Angeles Times 101 Best Restaurants list, ranking #73 by Jonathan Gold in 2017. Accolades aside, this place definitely lives up to the hype. Between the food and service, Adana offers an excellent dining experience. Came here for my first time back in late October for lunch. We were in the area, and I had been curious to try this place for a while. I don't eat Middle Eastern food very often, so I'll admit I'm no expert. We deferred to our waitress for recommendations, and none of them disappointed. Each dish we ordered was incredibly flavorful and delicious. Another amazing spot recommended by my friend. This restaurant is a hidden gem, I never would've found it without someone specifically telling me where it is. Definitely worth checking out. There is a small parking lot right next to it and I think I saw metered street parking. I went post lunch so I'm pretty sure I barely missed the crowd. The food is delicious! I definitely recommend the steak, it was a balance of well cooked and juicy. That is such a hard balance to hit but they do it! They also provide you with pita bread and fried pita bread! It was amazing! The side dishes are delightfully fresh and tasty. If you're an onion lover like me make sure to order the onions with all the spices, it's just so darn good! The ambience is nice! Adana is in a quiet corner of Glendale's northern edge. It has a wide variety of Middle Eastern and Armenian meze (appetizers) and Persian main dishes. The portions are lavish and the flavors are bold. Koobideh Beef: The rice is fluffy and buttery and is yellow from saffron at the top. The koobideh are long beef kababs mixed with spices and chopped onions. The Persian salad is sweet, slightly savory, crunchy, and minty. It could do with an extra splash of vinegar. Raw onions are tangy and slathered with sumac. The hummus here is silky smooth. How can something made of beans be so rich and creamy? Albaloo Polo: Large chunks of boneless chicken thigh kababs are grilled to perfection. They are golden, firm, and savory. Part of the rice (polo) is buttery and yellow from the saffron. Another portion is stained pink from sour cherries (albaloo). The red cherries look like tiny grape tomatoes and have a sweet and sour flavor. My party of 4 and I knew that Glendale is a popular city for Middle Eastern food. As a result, we decided on Adana Restaurant, after finding it on the Michelin Guide (It's a Bib Gourmand in ). We arrived and parked in the side parking lot on a Sunday evening, around 6pm. Upon parking, we realized there were no other cars in the lot and it appeared that most of the kitchen staff was on break outside. When we entered the restaurant, our suspicions were confirmed. There were no other patrons. However, during our dining experience, there were several take out orders. It seems like this area might be popping during the work week, and a little sleepier during the weekends. Nevertheless, the food was delicious. Food ordered: Complimentary: - Pita bread - fried and plain pita pocket - The Sumac sliced Onions were so good and there's more of the same seasoning on the side, if you wanted more. 1. Igra (Armenian Eggplant Dip): 5/5 I asked the server which dip she would recommend and she said all the dips are delicious. So, we decided on an eggplant dish since there were 2 eggplant based ones, so it must be good. It was good. The Igra has roasted eggplant, tomato, and red pepper, giving it a beautiful dark orange red color and so much depth of flavor. 2. Lebni (Kefir Cheese Dip): 5/5 If you like cheese and yogurt, you will like the lebni. This was very refreshing and complimented well with the pita bread and the heartier meats. 3. Chicken Breast Kabab, Shirin Polo: 5/5 I was nervous to try this since sometimes chicken breast is dry, but this was so tender and marinated and cooked perfectly. We got the Shirin Polo which is Chicken Kebab with rice, where the rice is basmati rice with an orange peel, almond sweet and sour sauce. We personally were not a fan of this flavored rice, and preferred the normal saffron rice that comes with the plates. 4. Koobideh Kabab (Ground Beef Skewers) : 5/5 This was definitely our party's favorite. The beef kebabs were tender and seasoned wonderfully. Every bit was delicious. I also appreciate that the kebabs some without the skewer attached (it feels awkward to try to cut around it when with others :P). Anyways, this was so good. Both kebab entrees came with a Persian Cucumber Salad and Hummus, and yes, I have to call it out since the Cucumber salad was so amazing. There was so much flavor that I did not know could exist from tossing cukes and tomato together. Overall, everything we tried here was phenomenal. So much flavor and great contrast of textures. A couple of small things to call out: 1) We were the only party there for the prime dinnertime which was fine, but as I mentioned, it was a little unsettling to park with no one else parked nearby. 2) My partner and I are pretty sure we got mosquito bites while dining in here. I really enjoyed the food and service at this restaurant. It's in an industrial part of Glendale and street parking may be limited. There is a small off street lot for customers. The interior is set up rather uniquely with a lot of space between tables and a large open space in the middle for take out orders...I believe this is due to Covid precautions. The food was amazing and portions were generous for the price. I ordered the chicken kabab (thigh meat) and others ordered the koobideh kabab. The skewers came with a large amount of buttery, fluffy rice, a side salad and a bowl of sumac onions for the table. We usually go to Raffi's Place in Glendale as well as Nersses Vanak Restaurant but wanted to give Adana a try; we're so glad we did. The Chicken Kabob, it comes with two sides and white rice with saffron. The chicken Kabob is delicious & tender, the white rice has actually saffron, not like others that you can't tell. It's worth trying this place, I'm certain you won't be disappointed. The restaurant is clean, and customer service was great. My only regret is that I live out of town wish it was closer to home, I think I found my new favorite location. read more

In support of local restaurants that we love... Isobel L. organized a Zoom take-out challenge for her Yelp friends which took place during the Age of the Covid-19 Pandemic (3/25/2020). Gary I. met me there and brought in some sake for the owner. The koobideh (ground beef kabob) was terrific, tender and flavorful. The rice was nothing short of incredible and some of the very best middle eastern rice I've ever had! I loved the thick and creamy Ash-Reshteh soup too! The sides of pickled veggies, dolmeh (grape leaves wrapped around spiced rice) and pita bread were delicious as well! Since this all had to be transported to my home for consumption, I appreciated the budge-proof Saran wrapping job. Nothing spilled, nothing wasted. There are good Middle Eastern restaurants and then there are great Middle Eastern restaurants (especially in Glendale), Adana is one of the GREAT ones. There's a reason why the late Jonathan Goldman (LA Times) and Mark Bittman (NY Times) both praised the restaurant. Bittman seems to have made Adana part of his go to restaurants whenever he was in town. I needed food for 20 and we quickly put together a varied menu for a fair price. Plenty of options for the vegetarians (dolmeh, hummus, igra - my favorite!!) and carnivores alike (chicken, beef, koobideh kabab). Everything is delicious. You need to follow in the footsteps of Goldman and Bittman - put Adana in your regular rotation. One note of warning, don't ask for substations. A certain episode of Seinfeld comes to mind. read more

Michelin gave it a Bib Gourmand, but I think a star would be reasonable. Just the side of Hummus and Salad that comes with the lunch have earned my heaping praise, and I've never had such flavorful Dolmeh. Armenia Eggplant Dip is awesome. It's dark and thoroughly baked, with no of the sliminess, and a slightly sweet undertone. Koobideh Kabab is moist and meaty without being heavy, a lovely lunch. The Abaloo Polo is "just chicken", but the marinade of spices gets all the way through. It's the only kebab that Jonathan Gold has ever praised, and it'll make you forget every other kebab you've ever had. And opt for the cherry rice every chance you get. I never thought I'd find roasted meat exciting, but this is some of the finest you'll ever have. read more

After having been guided by the Über Chef de Cuisine at Adana and going by his recommendations as what to order, his superb culinary skills were laid bare in an exposition of fine art that praises the ancient Persian kitchen where the Persian Empire was in full swing 2,600 years ago. Our Chef was excellent at knowing what side dishes would pair w/ the main dish whether it would cleanse the palate, emphasize the flavours inherent in both dishes, add refreshing or enriching textures, aromas, taste contrasts, etc. Our hours long dining extravaganza was a tour de force of Persian cuisine conducted and curated by the culinary force of nature. Thank you Chef for an edifying, revelatory look into the sophisticated Iranian food scene. 5+ stars!!! 1) Adana Avocado Salad: Prepared slices avocado, chopped onion and herbs, garlic onion & spicy dressing. The ripe, soft, unctuous avocado contrasted well as well as augmenting to the funky vegetal spicIness. 2) Fattush Salad:  Verdolagas, tomato, cucumber, radish, herbs and feta cheese, garnished with pita chips and our spicy dressing. The slightly viscous, slippery Verdolaga was a rare treat that elevated the summer ripe vegetables & the milder goaty tones of the Feta. 3)  Eggplant Dish (Kashk-e-Bademjan): Fried eggplant in rich condensed yogurt topped with fried onions and mint. This yogurt was thick, creamy, touch sweet, reminiscent of a way more  sophisticated version of the old school Lipton's french onion dip made w/ sour cream. 4) Soltani Kabab Combo: Combination of filet mignon kabob & koobideh also known in Armenian as Luleh Kabab which is rough ground beef favoured w/ black pepper, turmeric, onion, possibly saffron, then skewered & charbroiled to perfection. 4a) Hummus/Garbanzo bean dip: Garbanzo beans, sesame seeds, tahini, garlic, lemon juice, and spices.  Apparently not part of the classic Persian repertoire, but an import from the neighboring Levant, the lands adjacent to the eastern Mediterranean. 4b)Maast-o Khiar/Cucumber yogurt dip: Interestingly, this refreshing, healthful probiotic dip goes in a straight line from Greece as Tzatziki to Iran, then India where it is called Raita. 5) Full Hatam: Pieces of nicely butchered, moist, meaty, lightly golden brown Cornish Hen on a skewer. 5a) Persian Salad:   Finely chopped tomatoes, cucumber, onions and herbs with olive oil & lemon dressing. Good palate refresher to the slightly gamey fowl. 5b) Shirin Polo: Orange peel, almond sweet and sour sauce, served with basmati rice. The sweet, citrus rind taste & aromatics create a fine grey border between savory & dessert.   6)  Ash Reshte: Thickened soup mix of chopped herbs, kidney beans, lentils, garbanzo beans and noodles, topped with fried onions, garlic and creamed whey. SatisfyIngly rich in a warm homey sort of way. 6a) Small side dish of sour, fruity powdered Somagh sprinkled onion salad 7)  Salmon (Fish Kabab): Broiled cuts of fatty Salmon Belly Filet 7a) Albaloo Polo: Agrodolce Sour Cherry Basmati style nutty, pleasantly dry, friable rice. 7b)Vinaigrette Veggie Blend with beets and red beans, potato, pickles, and cabbage in an acidic gastrique that cuts through the fattiness & salmon flavours. 1-7a) Premium Japanese Sakè (sah keh) was an extremely good pairing as well as red Cabernet Sauvignon. Hidden gem alert! This hole-in-the-wall Armenian/ Middle Eastern restaurant is located in a small building on San Fernando Rd, on the border of Glendale and Burbank. There is a small parking lot with about 5 spots on the south side of the building. The entry to this treasure lies behind a decorative bronze metal and glass door. Don't blink your eyes or you'll miss it. The interior is simple and clean with tables and chairs and ceiling art. The vibe was relaxed and social. I had a small gathering here with 6 co-workers on a Tuesday afternoon. I made reservations for 12:30pm and had pre-ordered. I arrived at 12:15 pm. The restaurant was busy but not crowded with about 15-20 diners. I met with the owner, Edward, and was immediately seated. Promptly at 12:30 pm, the appetizers were brought to the table by Selena and Margarite. Three types of kebabs (chicken breast, ground chicken, and beef) followed. The food was impressive. Everything was beautifully plated, in enormous portions and delicious. The vegetarians in my group were thrilled with all of the vegetarian options. The vinaigrette and falafels made the top of our vegetarian list. Everyone loved the flavored pita chips. Comments received about the kebabs was they were all juicy and tender and "best kebabs ever." Service was outstanding. Everyone was friendly, super attentive and helpful. Edward was warm and accommodating. There were 2 small nice single user restrooms, one female and one unisex. The food was just okay, but it was pretty affordable-- ~$20 for a Chicken Kabob, Hummus, and Pita. Chicken was juicy and had some flavor, Fried Pita was good, but regular pita was just okay, it was the thin store bought kind that's really more like lavash.
