I want so badly to give this review more stars. Unfortunately, there were a few things that could be improved on. I called in an order and was told that my order would be ready in 10 minutes: I was on the highway so it wasn't a problem. When I arrived at the restaurant 15 minutes later, there was a line of people waiting to place orders and another line of people waiting to pick up orders. A delivery person that was waiting pointed out to me that if I hadn't placed an order yet I could use the kiosk that was in the restaurant, that was pretty cool. Another customer mentioned to me that on the weekend being cramped and busy is normal. I asked the woman taking orders if my call-in order was ready and she said something quick that I didn't hear and rush to the back. I finally got her full attention after waiting a few minutes and she answered that it was being made (after being there 25 minutes). Fortunately, there are chairs and tables where you can sit to wait or eat. Once my number was called I paid for my order and was on my way (40 minutes after calling in my order). I was very excited that after my 45 minute drive home, my food was still nice and hot! My red red was the consistency I like and though the spice level was mild (I should have asked for it tp be a little spicer, however, this was good for my first time trying theirs) and the fish was seasoned great as well. The plantain had a nice burn on it however, it was very mushy. Thankfully the food is served in aluminum carryout tins that are going to be great for reheating my food! I'll definitely be taking the drive again! Bon appetit!

I've been coming to Rahama for YEARS. And I still haven't been disappointed. The food is always amazing. They may not always have what you want. But whatever you get you won't be disappointed.

There's something nostalgic for me about being at Rahama that takes me back to Ghana. Perhaps it's the service that feels like a welcome home from that one aunt or uncle that you just know us going to have something to say or maybe it's the smell of ginger and spices that greet you the moment you approach the door. What is undeniable is this: you wont find Ghanaian food at this quality and taste anywhere else in the DMV. Theres so much range in the food offerings that it would be a disservice to come here and just order jollof. Try something served with soup, try the juices, go for the waakye and i promise you wont be disappointed.

I just want to say I grew up eating at Rahama in virginia as a child. The last Sunday of each month after church My father would take us there. After 10 years and moving back from North Carolina I finally tracked a location down near my house. I really excited because i remember the atmosphere being so friendly and welcoming. Despite all the locations being cluttered i knew the food is always great. The lady at the register was not friendly- very short with me. When I called earlier a guy was speaking to me and while talking to the customers in-front of him. Why not place me on hold? That's okay but the FOOD ... YALL Bussing bussing I got Waakye. I am obolo (I think spelt that correctly) THE portion was PLENTYFUL. Food was immaculate. It was sooooo good. Omg 10/10 recommend PLEASE DONT THINK ABOUT IT! Just Go!!

I didn't order for donut on this receipt that was half cut off and given to me.

I should have given more score until I saw the receipt of something I did not order for donuts.

I've had food from the other two Rahama locations in VA and this location in MD is just as good. Ordered the usual favorite, jollof rice with fried chicken. The rice portion is huge, enough for two people and tasty. The fried chicken was good, but could've used a little more seasoning, but that was easily fixed with the shito sauce. My husband enjoyed their beef (with jollof). Their jollof rice is sooo good, will definitely order from them again in the future.

A favorite is the Peanut Butter Chu and Chicken Afra. And for my dinner crew, there werent any major complaints. Flavor was there and quality. The one thing was around the desserts. Because we ordered via third-party app, I think the cake was subbed for whatever was available and not specifically we ordered. But not a major miss. Overall, delicious food and good portions. From the moment we walked in, the service was great and you can tell that they care about their customers. The African decor is also very beautiful! Something fun to look at every corner. As for the food, we got the Okra Soup with paneer and fufu, Chicken Chu and Jollof. It was my first time trying fufu and I really enjoyed it. I had a recent dental procedure that prevented me from being able to chew so it was honestly the perfect meal for me, as traditionally you're supposed to swallow the fufu. My husbands chicken chu was very flavorful and totally new to us. As for the jollof I felt it was lacking a bit of flavor and the grains of rice were a bit too el dente for my personal liking. I have had jollof at other places that I liked a bit more. Overall great spot! I love trying new West African restaurants and would recommend this to others!

I didn't realize where the restaurant was located beforehand, so I was a little surprised when I arrived. It's in a very urban area, which may or may not matter depending on your comfort level. There was a decent amount of seating inside if you choose to dine in. The restaurant was okay in terms of cleanliness, but personally, I'd opt for takeout. I originally planned to eat inside but changed my mind once I got there. Unfortunately, the customer service wasn't the best. I wasn't greeted when I walked in, and when I received my order, the takeout container wasn't fully closed and was placed halfway into the bag. I'm not sure if it was just an oversight, but it didn't leave the best first impression. Now, the food, that's where they won me over. Everything was well-seasoned, and the suya had just the right amount of spice. They were out of the vegetable I originally wanted, but I'm actually glad I tried the corn because it was absolutely delicious. And that suya butter sauce? It was the star of the meal! Overall, while the location and customer service weren't my favorite, the food was flavorful enough that I'd come back if I were in the area and craving suya.
