Spider Roll, Rahway Roll, tempura shrimp roll

I was expecting a cute mom and pops joint that had a good down to home sushi bar feel... just know, this is my First time at this location and you can not find parking anywhere... super unfortunate, especially since I just needed a curbside loading/unloading to just pick up an order. The place was tight and dim, not so welcoming... like a dungeon I know, it off to expect from a highly rated establishment. It also could be timing!? This was not the experience or welcoming I'd expect for my first time anywhere. Could be the frustration of not being able to find parking for 15 past pick up time bringing the sushi to a stale state than it could have been experience. I love wasabi and craved wasabi.... there wasn't enough wasabi provided for the sushi and had to pay an extra 50 cents for a small sauce container. I ordered 3 rolls, totaling to $40 and some change, spider roll/shrimp tempura roll/Rahway roll... could have been my poor selection, but it felt like a heavy meal and was hard to get through 6pieces, 2 from each. Upon bringing the sushi back to my place, kinda underwhelmed and def expected more.... I'll give them another try with a different selection.

Cozy little sushi shop in downtown Rahway! They consistently serve good tasting sushi - been a repeat customer for months (since I first tried the restaurant!) Love their mango and avocado sushi roll as well as the green dragon rolls. The appetizers are also good! The prices are also very reasonable for sushi. The service is prompt and I believe it's family owned - love seeing familiar faces!

    Chirashi bowl. Sooooo good!

What a great find! Really flavorful sushi with great texture and taste. Ordered the Chirashi bowl and miso soup as the included side ( choice of soup or salad). Added the salad as well since o love the traditional mango dressing. Everything was fantastic! Loved the miso. Restaurant was very plain inside with super friendly service. Very cool area with a great vibe. Just off the Rahway train station. Would be a great hop off / on spot when traveling to and from the city.

    Chicken Teriyaki

Typically order sushi from here but was in the move for Teriyaki. Order the chicken Teriyaki with white rice and vegetables. Again, I typically order the sushi and will probably stick to only that from now on. The chicken was moderately seasoned and did not have a lot of sauce. I actually added my own sauce from home. Overage just average for this dish. I highly recommend the sushi from here but was expecting more from the Teriyaki.

Based on reviews, Rahway Sushi was a good choice for takeout. Ordered seaweed salad, one spicy tuna with scallions roll and a don cats (breaded pork chop on rice with a fried egg). Nice meal. Sushi and seaweed were very fresh. Don Katsu was okay, but fried egg was a bit bland, and pork seemed a little dry. Parking is not easy to find - just a few spots on the driveway next to restaurant. Drove around a few times and then parked in the city garage. Free parking for three hours, but spaces were few in the evening. I parked on the roof (4th floor) and then had to find the restaurant after being turned around and around in the garage. I mentioned to restaurant staff and she showed me the back door of the restaurant leading into a mall like area that had a door across the street from the parking garage. Nice takeout meal, small restaurant, great menu, but parking is difficult.

Excited to have dinner at this neighborhood GEM!

This restaurant serves the best sushi in the area! My favorite rolls on the menu are the Volcano Roll & the Monster Roll. I really look forward to trying more. The seaweed salad & kimchi were a tasty addition to my order. Because everything was freshly prepared, there was a 20 minute wait. If you want to simply grab and go, I would suggest ordering before arriving. The woman at the register is very friendly. She provides great suggestions if you can't decide on what to order. This is a perfect place for a takeout night! *** 50¢ additional charge for spicy mayo if you normally request it on the side elsewhere.

    Jumbo Shrimp Tempura

I live in the area and I order from here often. I love the spicy tuna rolls and Jumbo Shrimp Tempura, it's amazing every time. However, they aren't rolled tightly and they do tend to fall apart but overall flavor is amazing!

Emperor roll and Salmon lover's roll

Excellent sushi! Fish tasted super fresh, and the rice was the perfect temperature. The sauce on the emperor roll had a nice kick, and the salmon lover roll lived up to its name.

I really wanted to love this place because the menu is very promising. I absolutely love sushi and Korean food. I picked up a big lunch and I've got to say, there was a lot of room for improvement. The restaurant was empty when I arrived, but that shouldn't matter. The bento box was a nice amount of food and variety at an excellent price. But there was no wasabi or ginger for the California roll. I think it was an oversight but it was disappointing when I got home. Also, the avocado in the roll was kind of brown which made it unappetizing. I liked the bulgogi and again it was generous for the price. But the rice that came with it was sushi rice (flavored with vinegar and maybe sugar) so it tasted weird with the beef. I made my own white rice to go with it and it was much better. Details like this really matter. The dumplings and shu mai were the frozen kind and not so good. They should definitely make homemade instead. Its not hard (I've made them) and makes a very big difference. Also maybe consider making your own dipping sauce instead of just out of the bottle. I was excited to try the fried chicken wings because Korean fried chicken is out of this world good. But they were not good at all. First, a couple of them still had feathers on them. Yuck. The coating was too thick and not crispy although I think they were freshly fried. If I were them, I would give less food and/or raise the prices a bit and improve the quality of the food and work on the details. I'm not going to give up on this place yet. I think it's family run which is something that makes me want to support them. The service was friendly and efficient. I'm going to go back and try some other things that others mentioned as being good. And I really hope they will take my suggestions into consideration because I would love to be a very loyal customer and would make it a go to spot for my coworkers and friends.

Great service made delicious food. You have to get those fried wings. Didn't expected to get amazing Korean fried chicken wings in Rahway.

The decor was awesome and I loved how it reminded me of Japan. The servers were also all very nice, and our food came quickly. I ordered: - Honey Lemon tea with honey boba (4/5) the tea was good but the boba itself was way too sweet. - Soy Garlic Chicken Wings (4/5) not bad - Shrimp Tempura Ramen (3/5) I loved the noodles but wish that there wasn't so much bamboo and thought the shrimp tempura was more breadcrumb than shrimp A friend also ordered the sushi tacos and mentioned the avocado was more like guacamole than real avocado -- otherwise she liked them. Also, one toilet in the women's bathroom was clogged and wouldn't flush, and the other toilet had pee all over the floor.

They are in the process of merging restaurants so we received several menus but were told that not all items were there and that there are some repeats and that all the prices were going to be different. Next, within a minute of sitting down, the waitress very seriously yelled at a young child we had with us about using chopsticks. This kid knows how to use chopsticks and uses them at home. She was excited to see them and be able to use them at a restaurant. The waitress then belittled us for allowing that. She was an extremely nasty person and ruined the entire experience. We resisted the urge to walk out and now have regrets about it. She felt awkward about how we received her criticism, so she pet the child's head and called her a pretty girl. The place is decorated with Christmas presents and bells (it's May). I wish that was the most insulting thing. We were the only ones in the restaurant the entire time. (That should have been our first sign). If you didn't want people to eat there, just close the inside and do just take out. As soon as we were sat she asked what we wanted and wouldn't leave until we asked her to. She came back with drinks a minute later and wouldn't leave again so we ordered a couple appetizers just to buy more time in deciding our dinner. She continued to belittle us and made eating incredibly awkward. We received our entree before we were done eating the appetizer, so I guess she wanted us to leave as much as we wanted to leave. The sushi was surprisingly good. Which is why I'm giving it 2 stars instead of 1. I just felt so uncomfortable eating here that I didn't enjoy much of it at all.
