I hadn't been to Mr. Bin in over 5 years, and the early experiences I had weren't great. Today's visit was redeeming! While it's not quite on the level of New York City's omakase spots, it's solid for New Jersey and worth a visit if you're in the area. Standout bites for me were the Otoro and Chu Toro- both beautifully fatty and flavorful - as well as the Hamachi with shishito and the scallop topped with crispy garlic. Other highlights included the Madai (seabream), barracuda, striped jack, and a satisfying bone marrow served with toast. I also tried Kumamoto oysters for the first time in years, and they were a lovely surprise-cleaned properly, topped with a light sauce, and incredibly fresh. The Hokkaido uni was creamy, though slightly more briny and bitter than I personally prefer. Mr. Bin himself mentioned that uni flavor can vary depending on the season. Throughout the meal, Mr. Bin was present and helpful, guiding us toward which fish to try. The fish is delivered fresh twice a week, and the quality really does show. That said, it's still missing that little extra something that sets top-tier omakase apart- the purposeful dot of yuzu sauce, the hidden dab of wasabi under the fish, or a crisp garnish that adds dimension and surprise. Some sushi have this, some don't. The technique is good, the fish is fresh, and the experience was enjoyable- I'd return- but it's a notch below the more elevated experiences you can find in the city. Hence 4 stars. Solid though, and friendly. Nice ambiance inside too, Saturday dinner time it filled up quickly so I recommend a reservation.

I ate here for the first time, and my only regret is not trying it sooner. This is the best sushI bar anywhere around here. They have many interesting daily specials and unusual types of fish from Japan that I've never heard of. Everything we tried was absolutely delicious. The owners were super-friendly and welcoming, the lighting and seating comfortable, and the service was great. I look forward to eating here again.

Came here on a Saturday evening was quiet. The ambiance is nice and small Food: Sushi was good and fresh. Was nicely plated but the price was a bit high for me.

If you're looking for an unforgettable omakase experience in New Jersey, Mr. Bin Sushi in Cranford is it. We did the 17-course omakase and were absolutely amazed, this was a true culinary journey. It started with a flavorful soup and moved through a stunning variety of sushi, sashimi, oysters, and other chef's specialties. Every dish was fresh, balanced, and beautifully executed. What really set this experience apart was meeting Mr. Bin himself. He took the time to explain how they source their fish directly from the seller--no middleman. And you can taste the difference. The quality was unmatched, each piece was melt-in-your-mouth perfection. You do need to make a reservation in advance for omakase, and they handle bookings online through Instagram (super easy to do!). The vibe is warm, welcoming, and focused on the food no distractions, just top-tier sushi and genuine hospitality. This is a hidden gem that deserves all the praise. Already dreaming of our next visit.

Omakase here is amazing! My husband and I have been here a few times and every single item is so unique and high quality, it's impossible to compare to any other Japanese or sushi place. Worth checking it out and worth the trip!

My first time at Mr Bin and WOW! So full, but already looking forward to coming back. Started the meal with fresh oysters that had amazing flavor and accoutrements the sushi specials were delicious and the service was great. Love the ambiance of the restaurant with the mix of classic decor and modern fun additions that went perfectly with the unique feel of the place. Will be back!

Second update on Mr. Bin sushi- Still my # 1 place for sushi in NJ. Recently went with some friends for dinner and we had a great time as always. My friends ordered some noodles and special rolls. We also got the crispy rice as starters and they were delicious! My husband and I always get the chef's special and let the chef surprise us, never fails, always excellent. As always, I recommend this place, it's a must try if you live in the area and even if you don't, def stop by.

There's not much to say about Mr. Bin that I haven't said in previous reviews, but since it's been two years since my last update, I thought it was about time for another one. In short, Mr. Bin continues to be one of my favorite restaurants in New Jersey. I've been coming to Mr. Bin (usually with my father) for years and I can honestly say we've never had anything less than a fantastic meal, and by meal I don't just mean the food, but the whole experience. There's something special about being welcomed enthusiastically by name, especially since we haven't been here recently. Mr. Bin loves his customers, and he treats them like family. His staff are equally wonderful. The restaurant itself is not fancy, but despite it's unassuming strip-mall location, the interior is warm and welcoming. Although they serve a wonderful omakase at Mr. Bin, we tend to order à la carte, because we enjoy hearing his recommendations (that usually include new creations), and we frequently reorder our favorites. Tonight, we had the following, not necessarily in this order: Botan Eb, which is large, raw, sweet shrimp that comes with the shrimp head that's been deep fried (reminiscent of soft-shell crab). We ordered that twice it was so good. Yellowtail sashimi with jalapenos in a dark ponzu sauce. Monkfish liver over warm rice with crispy chili garlic on top. Sweet scallop sashimi with ikura and a light ponzu sauce (This one is new. If you like scallops, I recommend you try it). Crispy Rice, which is sushi rice that has been deep fried and topped with a quenelle of spicy tuna that's finished with tobiko and a drizzle of sweet soy sauce. Definitely try this! Seared sweet scallop in roasted nori with chili garlic. California uni, which was sweet and delicious. Lastly, several orders of the seared salmon belly with tobiko. This is consistently our favorite item and is a "must try" if you like salmon sushi. I also recommend the hot green tea. There's a small charge for it, but it's because they use very high-quality tea and you get your own pot, which they refill. The cost of this incredible sushi meal was just $165, and that was for two people. At any other restaurant serving similar quality sushi the price would easily be double that amount. It's worth mentioning that Mr. Bin's menu is large and filled with exotic and interesting sushi rolls, and there are plenty of choices for anyone in your party that doesn't like sushi. If I could give Mr. Bin 6-Stars I would. My only complaint, and I've mentioned this to him frequently, is his restaurant isn't closer to where we live.

I've been here a few times and have had so many delicious dishes. First of all, the owner is super nice and helpful if you would like any suggestions. I love trying the different specials, all of the fish are extremely fresh and very tasty. The kids love the salads here, which is a sentence I never thought I would write :). The salad dressing is fantastic and you can buy a jar of it to bring home. The lunch specials are good options in terms of value, however, you have to try the OMAKASE, at least just once. There are some very unique dishes, my personal favorite was the monkfish liver and the seared toro roll. Pro tip, make a reservation if you go on a weekend, the place is always packed.

The little train cars that bring your food are super fun, and the conveyor belt has food as well and of course the robots that bring you food as well. This is all you can eat so you pay 1 price for everything. I thought Ramen would be more expensive but it's not, it's included! I think only drinks and desserts are extra. This place had a lot of options and way more than sushi so if you are not a sushi person, there's plenty. To be honest, the mozzarella sticks were some of the best I ever had. I also love Kura sushi which is a very similar revolving sushi bar place so I am comparing it to that. This place relies more on the tablet ordering than the conveyor belt while Kura relies on the conveyor belt. The conveyor belt here had some things labeled, most of it was unlabeled which was a little annoying. Everything at Kura is labeled. Kura is pricing per plate while this place is all you can eat - which I do prefer. I think this place has way more selection while Kura has more or less the same items. I still love this place but overall, I do prefer Kura more. Both places definitely have pros and cons though. The service was great as well. Everyone was friendly and knowledgable. Regardless, I will be back and would recommend.

I came with a party of 4 and was only allowed to order every 5 minutes, as the iPad will time out and not allow you to order again. Understand this might be due to food waste or over ordering. The conveyor belt can use signs, and at some point of times it was only fruits or seaweed salad spinning around. Standouts include salmon, squid and scallops. Concept is cute and restaurant is bright and clean, but I think it becomes tough at an all you can eat when you have to keep waiting to eat or order. Especially if you come hungry!
