Blue Bessie with side salad and cranberry negroni
    Aubrie H.

They always have a great draft list here but on this visit we tried a seasonal cocktail. The cranberry negroni was nice and others at the table liked their drinks as well. I ordered the blue Bessie which was absolutely delicious and cooked perfectly. Love that there is an option to have a side salad instead of fries at no extra charge.

The Rail (4 stars) I have been to The Rail on a few occasions, and if I were to rate them just for their burgers, I would give them 6 out of 5. The Bonfire, Local Yokel, and 7th Heaven are amazing burgers, and better than almost any burger I have had in Columbus. The sides of onion rings or sweet potato fries (I usually get the chipotle mayo) are also great complements. That said, the service is about average, and this location can use an upgrade. We had a wobbly table and slow service on a 3:30 PM visit to an empty location. I will be back for the burgers, but I would be a bigger fan of this place if management would address some of these kinks.

After a long day of work, it was good to find a place to enjoy a good meal and relax outside. The burger special was delicious and had to have a side of fries. The only downside was slow service...kind of felt forgotten as others who were seated after us were waited on before us. Thus, the 3 stars.

I came here for the first time with my husband as a walk in for lunch. We couldn't decide if we wanted a burger or chicken sandwich so we decided to get one of each and split. We got the spicy burger and chicken sandwich with one of them having onion rings as a side and the other having fries. The server was nice enough to have the kitchen actually split our meals for us to make it easier for us to share. The food did take a really long time to come out for lunch, but when it came out, it was nice and hot. I wouldn't really call the chicken sandwich very spicy even with the hot honey dipping sauce. It was crunchy though. The spicy burger was OK, I really wasn't a fan of the jalapeño jam because it was too sweet for my liking. The burger needed some more texture to it too , like something crunchy. All in all, it was a good experience and we had a great server. Will try it again if I was in my area.

    Lokel Yokel Burger

Good burgers. The menu is somewhat limited, with no other pasta option other than Mac & Cheese; not ideal. I ordered the Lokel Yokel Burger; a burger with an egg. I waited 25 minutes, which was a little too long considering the place was empty. The burger was good, and my server was friendly. Overall an average experience.

Miyoung is wonderful! Personable, knowledgeable, and quick to fix issues. An absolute delight! The food was flavorful, fresh, and hot. We were a larger group without a reservation.

Very good food. The tots are house made and really unique. The chicken sandwich was HUGE! I got the garlic hot honey. The burgers all looked amazing. Love all the side options.

My husband and I went here after going to the zoo and we loved it. I got the bootlegger burger and my husband got the bonfire burger. Both were fantastic. Some of the best burgers we've had! Very quality burgers and we loved our waitress Taylor! She was always checking in and got our food out to us fast! We waited maybe 10 minutes for our food to come out! The ambiance was great and the food was even better. I will be coming back!

Tater tots and a French Toast Burger
    Brianne C.

I've visited The Rail a few times over the past few years and each meal has been delicious. This most recent trip I was able to order from their brunch menu for the first time, so I ordered The Morning Glory. It's a burger on French toast with bacon, cheese, and an over easy egg. I enjoyed it a lot! They're big on local, Ohio beef, and the burger patty itself was very good! I paid $5 to upgrade from a home fry side to the tater tots. While they were good, I don't think the upgrade price was worth it for 6 tots. We had a larger group and our server was great - on top of it with drink refills, to go boxes, and everything else we might have needed.

Ask the Community - Rail Craft Kitchen & Bar

Do they allow dogs on the patio?

On my trip to The Rail on June 13, I sat on the patio. While enjoying a great meal and superb service, I did observe another table with a small dog in a carry cage/basket.

Is The Rail loud, can you carry on a conversation?

It's loud alright! I wouldn't recommend for a quiet first date.

We were nervous at first because no one we talked to knew what Gene's was BUT we are SO SO SO glad we went! From the moment you step onto their property it was such an incredible experience. Who knew such a cute and quaint little restaurant could pack so much flavor and art into their food and such a personalized dining experience. While we had a reservation at 8:45, we decided to eat in at the bar after having the most incredible espresso martini of our lives and talking to John. My sister and I opted to share multiple courses - each of which was better than the last. It was an amazing experience and we were lucky enough to compliment and thank the executive chef in person. We left full and satisfied but not stuffed which is exactly what we were looking for! HIGHLY recommend Gene's if you're looking for an elevated dining experience and great service while in Dublin, Ohio!

The chips were fresh, guac was ok, salsa 100% bland. No heat, no cilantro or other flavors. Luckily that's exactly what my husband likes, lol. I ordered the BBQ Chicken Flatbread. It was a huge thing. There were WAY too many raw, red onions all over it. They were chopped into little bits, so it was very difficult and messy trying to pick them off. The proportions were totally off. Way too much BBQ chicken, hardly any cheese. The Angus Burger with Cheese, tho! It was the most disgusting burger we ever tasted. It seriously tasted like TV dinner Salisbury steak, totally overcooked, dry, yet greasy. My husband hardly ever throws food away, but the thing could not be salvaged at home in any way. The prices are ridiculous for the quality of food. The waitress was nice in a completely generic, robotic way. She simply said, "I'm sorry you didn't like it." We were too tired to put up a fuss and just wanted to get out of there. Do yourselves a favor. Drive or get an Uber to a restaurant on Tuttle Crossing. Any of them. Even McDonald's.

While there were a few minor service issues, our server was kind and attentive and acknowledged the celebration with complimentary desserts, which we truly appreciated. After dinner, my cousin and I went to wash our hands and use the restroom. At the time, all stalls were occupied and one was out of service, so we waited. When a stall opened, my cousin kindly let me go first. I finished and stood outside the stalls waiting for her for about three minutes. During that time, I noticed several people going in and out of the restroom area. I also saw a man sitting in a chair along the hallway wall near the stalls, hunched over. Shortly after, a woman exited the restroom and grabbed him to leave. I thought nothing of it and minded my own business. I also observed the executive chef enter one of the restroom stalls. When my cousin exited, she mentioned that the stall smelled strongly of smoke and that three girls had exited the stall before she entered. She said the stall smelled like marijuana but used it only because it was the only option available. She also pointed out that the man sitting outside appeared to be associated with the group who had been in the stall. We then returned to our patio table where our family was seated. Our server brought out her birthday pie along with another complimentary dessert. She blew out the candle, we shared dessert, and we began preparing to leave. A few minutes later, while we were still seated on the patio, the general manager, Nick Krafft, approached our table accompanied by Executive Chef Michael Wagner. We initially assumed he was checking in on our experience. Instead, he immediately stated, "I'm going to have to ask you not to smoke in our restaurant and bathroom," directing the accusation at my cousin and me. We were completely taken aback by both the accusation and the manner in which it was delivered. We calmly explained that it was not us and described exactly what we had observed in the restroom. We stated that neither of us smoke and never have. We even offered to have our belongings checked and explained that we had not taken any jackets or purses with us to the restroom, as our family remained at the table. Despite this, the general manager refused to listen or consider our explanation and continued to place blame on us. He did not speak to our server, who had interacted with us just moments earlier while bringing out the birthday dessert, nor did he attempt to investigate further or de-escalate the situation. As we were leaving, my fiancé asked the general manager if he actually smelled smoke on either of us. He responded "yes," which was not true, and continued to push a conclusion he had already formed. No apology was offered. We spent over $1,000 celebrating a family birthday at a restaurant we had trusted and enjoyed in the past. Instead, the evening ended with my cousin's birthday being overshadowed by an unfounded accusation. There were many guests dining that evening, yet blame was placed solely on two women who had simply used the restroom. I am a Nurse Practitioner, and my cousin is a special education teacher for autistic children. Neither of us have ever smoked. Being accused in this manner was humiliating, hurtful, and completely unnecessary. I was later contacted by the regional manager, who was understanding. However, I believe this situation highlights the need for better investigation, accountability, and staff training to prevent similar experiences in the future. A personal apology from Nick, acknowledging his actions and taking accountability, would be an appropriate step forward after innocent guests were wrongly blamed and a birthday celebration was ruined.
