The meat was good, nice taste, but that is it. I've never been to a BBQ restaurant where the only sides were beans, okra, fries, or baked potatoes. I won't say this is the worst BBQ in North Texas, but it's got to be close. I had to ask for a steak knife to cut the brisket. After ordering it from the moist end! Their beef is suitable for chopping, mixing with sauce and spooning on a white bread bun, that's it. Now, the beer's cold. There's a band more often than not, and the community support is terrific. I can't say enough about this place. We come her at least once a week and have never been disappointed. The food always comes out great and everything I have ordered has been amazing. I've eaten here for years and always enjoyed it but lately have noticed a sharp decline in the food quality! Recently stopped in here for lunch. Ordered the Railhead Salad with sliced brisket and asked for some with bark on it. What I got was a salad with chunks, not slices, of fatty meat on the side. No bark. The waitress never came over to ask how my lunch was. Nor did she ask if I wanted a refill on my drink or anything else. Just brought my ticket and said "have a nice day sweetie". I went through the drive-thru for dinner and ordered two meals. One of the meals was hamburger steak and a baked potato. When I got to the window to pay, I handed the guy my credit card and he quickly handed me a hand held credit card machine and said 'I'm gonna let you do it.' Well I immediately knew what that meant. He wanted a tip for handing me my food through the drive thru window. I caved and gave a 15% tip and was mad at myself for doing so. I had to pull up and wait for my order. The guy brought me my food in a bag tied at the top. I thought for a second, maybe I should check and make sure the order is correct and decided not to untie the bag. When I got home, there was an order of French fries on the top of our two meals as a substitute for my baked potato I just paid for! Infuriating! IF I GO BACK, and I may not bc of these two things, I will be telling the manager a thing or two. read more

We went here because of the hype. it was Meh... middle class BBQ. they need to step their game up some with better sauce, and food needs little more flavor as it was try and tough to eat some. BBQ is supposed to be soft and flavorful with melt in your mouth bites! Ribs were better than the brisket but still around average. over all I would say middle ground BBQ spot. the one in Benbrook area is way better! anyway, their procing does not reflect the quality of being middle ground. they unless they step it up they need to drop costs about 15%. good luck to them! read more

Love the happy hour & deep fried turkey here. A true Fort Worth staple. The beers in a schooner are under $2 for happy hours, the sandwiches are over stuffed with meat of your choice and the fries are awesome. This isn't a luxury BBQ place but it doesn't try to be. What happened to Railhead? Years ago, I use to eat at the one on Montgomery and it was fairly good BBQ. Just ate at the one in Willow Park and it was pitiful. Everything was over cooked, even the fried okra was cooked to death. My grandson opened his hamburger to shoot some ketchup on it and I have never seen such a pitiful little hockey puck served to anyone in my life. The rest of us had BBQ. Wife had a sliced brisket sandwich and it was so dry she could barely choked it down after drowning it in sauce. Daughter-in-law got a bologna sandwich, dry as the desert wind. My son and I got a three meat plate, the Texas Trinity. Sliced brisket too dry to chew and swallow without some lubrication (sauce and/or soda pop), ribs over cooked, dried and falling off the bone (good ribs should have an oh so slight tug to them), even the jalapeno sausage was dry. Drying out sausage takes some real effort!! I will say, the quantity on our three meat plate was ample, and the soda pop was very tasty, I know because we had to drink plenty to get the meal to slide down. The service here was good but the food wasn't I ordered ribs expected good bbq and was very disappointed the only good thing about the ribs was they were perfectly tender but the flavor was terrible there was zero salt in whatever they used to season the ribs if they did at all they were full of tendons and I couldn't even eat half of the meat the sides weren't very good either I like coleslaw but this was terrible the fries were crispy but tasted like nothing the meal was $16 or half a rack of spare ribs and sides a whole rack of spare ribs is around $12 to buy yourself they cooked it of course which adds value as do the sides but honestly $16 was a little overpriced for what I got overall not the best experience wouldn't recommend unless you don't like flavor read more

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed this BBQ joint. It was busy, but our server was friendly and attentive. My wife had the smoked sausage plate and I had the chopped beef sandwich plate. The entrees were delicious and the sides were the same. It is very affordable, especially for the amount of food you get. We will be back. read more

Just to be clear, there are two Railhead Smokehouse. The one in Willow Park is not owned by the same people that own the other in Fort Worth. Now, that is established.. let's talk BBQ! I found the meat a little 'moist' or fatty for my taste, even when asking for 'dry' or lean meat. The sides are really good... cook well, and nice portions. The smoke turkey... well, seemed a little 'deli meat' than what I have gotten at other BBQ restaurants. The kids meals are good offerings and enough for a small child. A good eater, could use an adult sandwich or 'lite' plate. I do like that in the evenings you are not required to go thorough the 'cafeteria' style line, and offered 'table service' as an option. The waitress was nice and attentive. Drinks.. well,they do have a full bar and plenty of cold beer. Table service is also available in the bar area. If you like, outside seating is available. Can be pretty warm, and road noise can be annoying. OK, for a small community, this is not a bad spot to eat or have a beer. Good hours and an easy to get in and out parking lot. I'll be back and try out some other offerings. read more

Worst resteraunt experience ever. I went in saw a counter and ordered my food. I got a drink and went to sit down. A waitress came over and handed me a menu. I explained I ordered at the counter. She took the menu and left presumably to get my meal. After about 15 min she returned and I said I'll go ahead and order 1/2 pound of both chopped brisket and sausage to go. I paid her and after another 20 minutes I still had no food. At that point I found the manager and he said he would find out where my food was. He returned empty handed and said they were putting the finishing touches in it. 10 minutes later my waitress comes with a large brown bag and begins emptying it to find my meal. I opened the to go box and found a cold sandwich and cold soggy fries. I closed the box went back to the kitchen and found another waitress and handed it to her and said this is cold just as the manger came over and I told him my food is cold. He gave me a skank eye look and I went to sit back down. 10 minutes later I had a fresh sandwich and fries. I arrived at 5pm it was now 6:15. To add insult to injury my sandwich was horrible. The brisket was dry and over cooked. Not once did anyone even apologize I felt like I was unwelcome. The manager set the tone I talked to him twice and walked right by him on my way out. I spent over $30. Never again! read more

If it were "marketed" as a bar I think my expectations would have been more in range. This will NOT be a place I am trying again. Extremely disappointed in Railhouse BBQ - what a waste of money and hunger. The waitress was terrible, the food was lackluster, and the flies were out of control. When we first got there I asked our waitress if they had a drink menu and she said "yes, but..." the beer was on the back of the regular menu. And then she just left our table before I could tell her I wasn't interested in beer. When she came back with waters, I had to ask again for the drink menu. Her leaving without assuring we were finished with what we were saying was a common occurrence. She did this after we ordered too before I could ask to have green beans instead of fries (I didn't see green beans on the menu so I didn't know I could order them). It was like a magic trick - after one of us at the table would finish speaking, she vanished. What about the rest of us? What if we needed something? After we got our food she never came back to our table to see if we were okay. If she did, she would have noticed the biggest problem - attack of the flies!! We sat outside on the patio because it was a nice night. Don't get me wrong, I understand that when you sit outside there may be a few flies, but this was utterly ridiculous. We couldn't eat our food because there were so many flies. I uploaded some photos that show the amount of flies on the potato salad. At one point we counted 11 just on the potato salad alone for ONE of our meals (we had 3 meals) and there was even more on the rest of the food. We tried eating but were so disgusted, and we tried looking for our waitress to talk to her about moving inside but she never came around. We eventually just pushed our meals away and waited. When she finally came over I told her, "we could not eat our food because there are too many flies" and she said "yea, the flies have been a problem like this all week." Really? If they know there is a bad fly problem then tell people before they order food out there. A courtesy, "FYI, we've been having a lot of flies lately out here and if they get too bad feel free to move inside" would have been fantastic. Instead, no warning, and no care in the world that most of our food was left on the plates. read more

I usually really enjoy this place but tonight was out of whack. I ordered the catfish and it was tiny pieces, more breading than fish. My baked potato was lukewarm. My dinner date was especially annoyed. He ordered the half chicken on Saturday that is called "Tuesday's Special" and he said it sure did taste like it was cooked on Tuesday, not today. It was dry and cold, with a flavor in his words "taste like sap from wood". He took two bites then pushed it aside. The server picked up his plate with a full meal on it and never said a word.
