Brisket burger is so juicy and one of the best I've had.

We stopped in yesterday trying to catch the Mother's Day brunch but were a bit too late. We sat at the bar and had a drink. Amanda was amazing! She made me the a coconut margarita and it was the best margarita I've ever had. It was deliciously dangerous. We were looking for somewhere to grab food and one of employees told me they could make me a burger and I sure wasn't passing that up after the smells coming from the restaurant. Y'all the burger was so pretty! Big and juicy. I took it to go as my husband wanted a steak. I ate it for dinner and I must say I did a lil dance in my seat. Y'all tell the kitchen you want Jack (he's 16 by the way) to make your burger! Can't believe I never knew about this gem. Can't wait to go back to explore the menu and get the best margaritas in town made by Amanda!

Lean brisket and pork ribs. Both were great!

We went here on a Saturday and got an extra special treat. During crawfish season they serve seafood as well. So, we started off with crawfish which was served with potatoes, sausage, and corn. We also ordered boiled shrimp too, damn they were good! Our friends also ordered some oysters with a red sauce and cheese on top, which I did not try but looked good. After that, we ordered some bbq as well, because, why not? The brisket was quite tasty, not the biggest smoke ring I've ever seen, but the bark on this brisket was amazing. Very peppery and just pops in your mouth. I ordered the lean brisket and it was super tender and delicious. We also ordered some pork ribs. Also, nice and tender and very flavorful. No sauce required which is how bbq should be. They have a full service bar inside. This place is a gem, but the real treat is during crawfish season. It gets crowded, but definitely worth it.

589 has a great patio and always great service! It's like a hometown feel and the stage area on the patio provides the perfect place to hear some great music! Amanda and Scott go out of their way to provide a nice place to entertain and feed your family and friends!

My wife and I stopped in at 589 Hickory BBQ for dinner, and it was a bit of a mixed experience. The place is a typical steel-building BBQ spot--nothing fancy, but it seemed clean, which is always a plus. One thing that stood out was that they have a bar, which is a nice addition since many BBQ places around here don't. As expected, it's a walk-up-to-order setup, but what caught me off guard was the menu structure. They don't offer the usual 1, 2, or 3-meat plates you find at most BBQ spots. Instead, you order meats by weight and then sides à la carte. They do offer a child's plate (1 meat and 1 side) and a senior plate (1 meat and 2 sides if I recall correctly), but nothing for people who want a combo of different meats with sides to eat in. Not wanting to mess with figuring out weights and such, we both opted for the BBQ potato. The brisket on the potato was very good--tender and flavorful. However, I wasn't a fan of the BBQ sauce on the table; it tasted more like ketchup to me. Later, we overheard someone mention they had a spicy sauce option, but by that point, we were nearly done. All in all, while the food quality was good, the menu structure and sauce left me a bit underwhelmed. I probably wouldn't go back to dine in, but I'd consider them if I needed to pick up some brisket or other meats for a small gathering. The brisket itself was solid enough to earn them another shot in a different setting.

Was in area looking for some ribs and came across this place. One negative for me is that u have to buy ur meat separately from ur sides and those sides ain't cheap! I paid 15 just for my ribs I got two pieces and they had a lot of fat on them . I got 3 sides at 5 bucks each for the smaller size! The beans were ok the vinegar coleslaw was just ok and the and the potato salad tasted so good but was straight puree kinda like a mash potato I was super disappointed. They had no mac n cheese nor corn bread on their menu whaaaatttt. I tried the very expensive banana pudding It was pretty good. The place is pretty nice plenty of seating . Won't be coming back though hefty bill not worth It

Hidden Gem BBQ Spot with Top-Tier Brisket and Five-Star Service We stumbled across 589 BBQ and what a find--this place is a true gem. If you're anywhere near it while they're open, don't hesitate. They're only serving Thursday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., so plan accordingly--because once you taste the brisket, you'll wish they were open seven days a week. I had a half-pound of lean brisket--no sides, just meat--and it was fantastic. The bark had a bold, pepper-forward bite with a satisfying crust, and the smoke ring was textbook--deep, pink, and proud. This was clearly from the flat, which I prefer, and they nailed it: juicy, tender, not greasy, and full of flavor that only comes from a pitmaster who respects their craft. No sauce needed (though they have it), and I didn't miss the sides one bit. My wife ordered the senior plate with brisket, green chile hominy, and creamy white potato salad. The hominy was a standout--almost like a green chile mac and cheese with a Tex-Mex soul. The potato salad was creamy, cool, and well-balanced, not overloaded with mustard or vinegar. Everything was served fresh, hot, and quickly. But the real surprise? The service. Three different staff members checked in with us during the meal--not in a scripted or pushy way, but with genuine warmth and care. That kind of attentiveness is rare these days and really elevated the experience. With drinks (tea for me, water for my wife), the total came to around $35-$36 including tip. For the quality of food, heartfelt service, and clean, welcoming space, that's a bargain. Pro Tip: Get the brisket, lean or fatty. Add a side of that hominy. And get there early on the days they're open--you won't want to miss out.

Omg we selected 589 for our annual Super Bowl Party! We ordered for 50 people and paid in cash. Guess what? We drive over to pick up our order and the owner looked at us dazed and confused! No order! "Well you were to pick that up yesterday!" Nope! "Well you paid cash?" Omg can this get any worse! Riscky's B-B-Q Fort Worth saved the day! We are headed there now! Quite certain 589 served our B-B-Q to the many people in line yesterday and today. That just isn't fair to put us at last minute in a frenzy! We are serving many people and will make certain each one knows this story! Thank God our beef menu will be handled by Riscky's! Just don't do it! 589 was helpless in offering anything to resolve their complete mess up!

I do the responsible thing and CALL AHEAD like a civilized human being. "Do y'all have prime rib?" I ask. "Yes," they say--with confidence. With conviction. With what I can only assume was zero verification. So I drive my hungry, hopeful self all the way there, already tasting that juicy, perfect bite in my mind... only to be told: "Oops, no they told you wrong, we dont have prime rib " Oops? That's not a minor inconvenience. That's betrayal. That's psychological damage. That's me sitting there questioning my life choices while staring at a menu I no longer trust. The two entrees we ordered for our preteens and it was also a generous portion but they finished it! Two adults ordered the filet steaks. Mine cooked medium was a bit dry. The other cooked medium rare was much juicier. So lean towards medium rare. The shape of the filet was wonky. I'm used to a firm tall filet. I think I saw these are cut in house? Maybe that's why it was wonky. It tasted good tons of grill/smoke flavor which I could have done at home. I don't usually order steak here and I probably won't again. But the sides are great- the green beans have brisket and bacon? Not sure but they were yummy. The baked potato only came with sour cream and cheese. Maybe butter too but it must have melted on the line. No bacon or chives... I was happy to share this restaurant with my family but note to self- try somewhere else next time in town. Ambiance was chill and it's nice that they close at 8:30. Keeps the trouble out. Our server wasn't the best but it looked like other tables had good service.

The food was good sometimes, other times not, and the serving container got smaller and the price went up a little. So the consistency was no longer there. However, the staff is friendly, we met the owners and they're nice people, and when the food is good, it's really good, so we've continued to go there. When Heim's opened across the street back in November, we figured BR would really lean into the challenge and become competitive in order to keep their current customers and gain new ones, things like sprucing up the menu at the drive-thru speaker, maybe lowering prices a bit or even better, including a soda or tea with the meals at no extra cost. But no, they didn't seem to do anything to try and compete with Heim's. Btw, we've heard Heim's is not nearly as good as they used to be when they first started and are very expensive, so we've not even tried it yet, and we were being loyal to Bakers Ribs. We've been there a few times in the past month, mostly during lunch hour and there were hardly any cars there ... the lot should have been full at that time of the day. It was surprising and we wondered why there weren't more customers there. Anyway, for the most part, our orders were good, but we still don't like the smaller containers and the fact that drinks aren't included. The point of writing this review is to suggest to the owners that they step up their game a little bit and make it seem like you want to grow the business ... offer some enticements on the meals and the pricing, use the bigger Styrofoam containers again, update your menu screen at the drive-thru to make it look friendly and inviting, and maybe start putting some catchy signs out front on the display to get people's attention. We'll continue to patronize BR and we hope this review is of some help.
